Thanks for your input folks. I ended up going through insurance for both the damages. Paintless dent repair people mentioned that they can’t fix the deeper scratch. Hoping car looks perfect once it’s back.
I think they are going to PDR the quarter panel and re-paint the paint chip since they did mention that it might start to rust since it’s made of steel.
I also already asked them if they could just do the door and I can take care of the quarter panel but they said they can’t do that since it...
I wasn’t at fault. A flying object on the freeway hit me and that scenario falls under comprehensive. I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that insurance will pay $4400 and not jack up my premium to recoup their money even if I wasn’t at fault.
I wanted to make this one a poll. I’m also on a time crunch since my car is currently with Tesla collision center - so need advice urgently. I’ll remove the other duplicate post. Thanks
The Tesla collision center rep mentioned that the paint chip on the quarter panel will start to rust since it is made of steel and not aluminum and will cost way more in the future. I’m conflicted if they’re just trying to sell or this is actually a concern.
Hi, took my car to Tesla collision center and they quoted $4400 in body paint repairs for the following damage. Good news is insurance will cover it since the claim falls under comprehensive and I have a low deductible but I’m scared my insurance still might go up after. What do you think?
Is...
I took it to a generic body shop as well and their quote was still around $3k which I’d have to pay out of pocket later since insurance won’t cover after a certain amount of time has passed after the accident. At that point I might as well take advantage of my low deductible. Also, most local...

Called a few places and lowest quote I got was $275. They were skeptical of fixing it due to the paint crack.
Also update from Tesla collision center is that they recommend to fix the cracked paint since quarter panel is made of metal and will rust, causing more expenses in the future, so it...
This thread is for the general discussion of the marketplace listing Right passenger door shell for Pearl White Model 3. Please add to the discussion here.
Thanks for your input folks.
I’m going to see if insurance will cover this under comprehensive. If I’m not successful with that, has anyone had success doing this themselves using bondo? Is there a tutorial I can follow?
Yeah it’s unfortunate :/
Would you folks recommend going through insurance and seeing if they’d be willing to replace the entire door for me? I feel like that’d be the cheapest and best option since it’d still cost me less than $1k and I get a brand new door.
An object scratched the side of my Model 3 front passenger door. Went to a few auto body shops and they quoted me between $1k - $2k to repaint the front and back passenger door (to blend it)
One of them said they could use a primer after which I could get it wrapped (which I don't mind)
Would...
I notice unexceptional battery drain only when battery is less than 10% and car is on standby/idle (I went from 8%-5% in 1 hour). This is when I would need the car to lose the least amount of battery while idle. When battery is above 10% battery drain is very minimal while on standby and within...
None of the factors changed except the tires in this time period (I scraped off a tiny piece of the under-carriage fiber glass aero shield but I doubt that would affect aerodynamics that much?). I had recorded my numbers from Jan-Mar (colder months) before I got the tires. Efficiency of roughly...
Read some forums on here about the aero shield damage and people getting it replaced from Tesla at no charge. Tried to attempt the same and Tesla said they’d charge me $198 for it and will not be covered under warranty since it is physical damage 🥴
Similar drives/routes that I do when I had new MXM4’s result in almost an extra 4-5% range loss. For example, I often do this 22 mile trip (mostly highway) and it has always costed me 6-7% of charge to do it always. With the PSAS4’s on, I lost almost 10-11% of charge. This can’t be just from...
You’re right in your assumptions - 18 inch with aeros and mostly highway driving around 75mph. I love the performance of the tires. I think that’s a big hit in range. Before I got these tires I read reviews saying that there’s only a 5-8% efficiency decrease. But anything over that I don’t think...
I just got the AS4 and my efficiency went from 256wh/mi lifetime to 350wh/mi from MXM4 to AS4. I’ve only had it for about 200 miles but that’s a big hit. I’m really hoping this gets better over time.
Thanks for sharing these numbers and your input. I’m more concerned about efficiency than road noise. As long as a few folks can confirm that efficiency hit is less than 5-6% on the PS4S I’m fine with it.
5% is not that bad, I think I can live with that. I’ve heard road noise is loud on the CC+‘s? Would like to hear from folks about the efficiency for PS4S’s since snow isn’t a concern for me.
Hey! I’m looking to replace my OEM Primacy MXM4 tires (lasted ~30k miles) with the Michelin’s Pilot Sport 4S on my Model 3 LR (18” inch wheels+aero caps) and I’m mostly concerned about efficiency of these tires. Folks who have made the switch from OEM to these tires, would you mind sharing range...
My other concern is around Safety Score. Does v11 make is mandatory for my to enroll in Safety Score? I'm in CA and I have Tesla Insurance. I also stopped updating ever since Tesla enabled the Cabin Camera. The updates keep getting more and more invasive. Are there similar invasive things in v11...
I had a cracked windshield and a “Front Passenger Safety Restraint Fault” that comes and goes periodically. Took my car in for service and service advised to replace the seat under warranty but would need to update the software for calibration. They also stated that failure to do so can void...
Scrapped off a little piece on the underside of my model 3. Do you think this is a concern or just cosmetic damage that can be repaired with some glue? Suggestions?
Thank you everyone for your support. This is the update from SC (screenshot attached).
Hopefully they replace the rear drive unit and everything is back to normal. Still yet to find out what actually went wrong with the car. They keep saying “engineers are working on it”. Once I find out what...
They’re still working on my car and upon asking what went wrong they don’t have an answer yet and tell me that the engineers are still working on it and that they are waiting on approval to replace the rear inverter (I’m guessing that’s the rear drive unit?) it’s almost been a week and they...
Hi guys, I took delivery of my 2021 model 3 long range 4 days ago. Long story short, 450 miles in I pull up to a super charger for the second time ever and start charging. 5-10 mins in it stops charging and reports the following three errors BMS_a035, BMS_a151 and VCFRONT_a192. The car wouldn’t...
Thank you everyone for your responses. You guys really helped me make a decision and I decided to switch to the long range but something unfortunate happened. The CVAP grant enabled me to afford the LR and I was about to take delivery as soon as it got approved (hopefully by the end of March)...
So, I just talked to CVAP over the phone and they said that last time they had to freeze approvals due to shortage of funds was back in Nov 2018 and resumed again Feb 2019 and that’s 14 months. They said that this time they’re hoping to have funding quicker than that but again they don’t have a...
I’m in the same boat. My M3 LR is ready I was just waiting for the CVAP and I don’t think I can afford it without the CVAP. I’m also relying on CVRP hopefully they haven’t run out of funds.
do you guys know if CVAP will start giving approvals by the next batch of deliveries in June/July? Are...
I really don’t see the point of getting existing used inventory. The price between used and new is almost negligible. I’m in a difficult situation here.
That would put me in a difficult situation because I know Telsa only does deliveries in the west coast during end of each quarter and that would be March and July for me and I'm hoping to get approval by mid April and my grant would have already expired by July :(
What should I do?
