Model X, FWD, and young children safety anxiety

Hi all -- Previous Model S owner, switched to a Model X a few years ago when we wanted something better for transporting the family. To start with, let me say I love most things about the X. It's fun to drive, the FWD make it incredibly easy to get my two kids into their seats, etc etc...

How long does a Powerwall support a home during a power outage?

    Thanks all! Extremely helpful.

How long does a Powerwall support a home during a power outage?

Understood. So the solar continues to charge the PWs even while the PWs are in use? You don't have to deplete one for it to begin to charge up, correct? Maybe I should state my assumptions: 1. If it's an "average" day where I generate 23 kWh, and I have 27 kWh in the batteries, I will have 50...

How long does a Powerwall support a home during a power outage?

Right, but all I can do for now is sort of gauge on an "average" day. This is part of my question. Do the panels wait until the batteries are fully depleted to begin recharging them, or does it continue charging them while they're in use during an outage/ I probably won't back up the...

How long does a Powerwall support a home during a power outage?

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I'm looking into getting solar + powerwall primarily for backup since zoning does not allow me anywhere to place a standby generator. I'm looking at an 8.16 kw system (8547 kWh estimated over the year) plus 2 powerwalls. Will the solar continuously replenish...

Minor rattling/creaking on acceleration/braking? (NOT shudder)

The rattle at around 10-12 seconds I believe was hitting a bump and my phone banging or similar. The interval creaking is the one I'm wondering about. That happens on braking and acceleration. I can't pinpoint the sound.

Minor rattling/creaking on acceleration/braking? (NOT shudder)

See video Streamable - free video publishing A bit hard to hear but it's the "rocking chair" creak in the background. Happens mainly on acceleration from lower speeds or stopped, or braking from any speeds. Hard to tell where it's coming from other than "the front of the car." This is not...

Climate not working properly (won’t maintain set temp)

I’ve been able to trigger it twice by trying to start climate control after the car has fully charged for awhile (over night) and the charger has been very recently removed or is still in, and it’s cold outside. Not sure if it’s a coincidence.

DIY UV Treatment for Yellowed MCU Screen

Can mobile service do this? I just made an appointment through the app for this issue and it allowed me to schedule mobile service.

Climate not working properly (won’t maintain set temp)

By way of update: I've had it at service center twice for this issue (~17 days total in repairs). Reoccurred again the other day. I've hired a Lemon Law attorney. Taking it into the service center again this morning.

Climate not working properly (won’t maintain set temp)

At my wit’s end with this. Last month, vehicle experienced “rattling” from behind glovebox when activating heating/cooling system. Climate otherwise worked well. Took to service center and got the rattling fixed. However, since that time, my climate system barely works. If I set it to anything...

    Clicking noise during hard acceleration

Interestingly, I let the car warm up a bit (until no more yellow lines on the regen section of vehicle display). After that, noise is present at standard, but not at low.
  16. C

    Clicking noise during hard acceleration

Yes. Just tested in low a few minutes ago. Not as pronounced but present.

    Clicking noise during hard acceleration

Is there still no fix for this? Starting to have this issue in my P100D. Inexcusable in a $100k+ car.

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

This thread is pretty lengthy and it seems there are a few different issues being discussed. I've noticed within the past month or so a "rattling" that seems towards the front of my Model S (2018 P100D) under hard acceleration (75%-100% accelerator press). It seems to have coincided somewhat...

Aftermarket Audio (Matt Schaeffer - Sound FX)

Hi all -- I wanted to share the finished product of the custom aftermarket audio Matt installed in my 2018 Model S P100D. Components are 2x Focal Kevlar KX2, Mosconi Pro 5/30 amp for the front, Mosconi Pico2 for the rear, Focal E25KX sub. Sounds great, but where Matt really earned his money...

    Model S: Cream vs. Black

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a P100D. Deep Blue Metallic. Only decision left is interior color. My main concern is longevity of appearance. I much prefer the look of the cream, but I am concerned about its practicality as a daily driver, especially with the cream carpeting. Dye...

Model S on the Track - A Review

Tangential but...if the power limit happens due to overheating, is there any real risk of this happening in heat waves, or is it something unique to goingall out on a track? i have no idea, just genuinely curious.

The opposite of which? I said "more or less suitable"

    P85+ vs P85 Loaner Experience

Not that it's important to me always and in the abstract, but in a given moment.... :) I'd go P85, but does the + make it more or less suitable for a daily driver in terms of ride comfort at normal highway speeds?
  31. C

    P85+ vs P85 Loaner Experience

So torn. Part of me realizes I don't need the P85 (or the P85+, especially). It's going to be my daily driver (actually, my SO will be driving it more than I will -- she drives to work, I take public transportation). And really, when am I really going to have a chance to show off that wicked...

    Tesla Resale Guarantee Document...

Where do you see the max term of 60 months? Only thing I can find is http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/03/tesla/ which says 72 months. Also, so you confirmed with Tesla that if you owe money on your loan, they will pay off the loan rather than require you to front the cash and then reimburse you...

Tesla to produce all-wheel drive Model S sedan next year

Hope they can make this happen without breaking the bank. Heck, I hope either of the AWD cars (S or X) can be had without breaking the bank. Want AWD for wintery weather, but even without AWD, I'm already closing in on $100k for what I want.

    Tesla Resale Guarantee Document...

The clear title is a biggie. It seems to be a small subset of people who are going to have financed the vehicle but will also have enough liquid in 3 years to front what could be $50k cash. I'd love to see an option where Tesla agrees to buyback your vehicle and send that money directly to...

Six Months Today: Life with a Model S at 6 Months

If I have an 85 kwh battery and drive 40 miles and the battery has only 10% left when I'm done, then yeah, my milage was 40, but I sure as heck wasn't getting the range I should. as a prospective owner, I care about what real world miles per charge people are getting (when you extrapolate it...

Six Months Today: Life with a Model S at 6 Months

Sorry if this is dumb but... How can I convert that to miles per charge, which seems like it would be more useful from a practical standpoint? is it as simple as battery size*1000 / w/mi?

Resolved: second row crash test doubts

I actually just came to post this! I was going through other cars to see if I could find anything similar. Came across one of those warning triangles. They denote safety concerns not involved with the star ratings. The text reads: So, that actually pretty much alleviates my concern. Back to...

Resolved: second row crash test doubts

Recalls take a long time to investigate and issue. It's a drastic measure. They wouldn't issue a recall as part of one test. If something appears on their radar, they'd investigate it. It's been two weeks since the test. It's also much harder for the NHTSA to issue a mandatory recall. They can...

Resolved: second row crash test doubts

I own a grand total of 3 shares of Tesla, and I didn't get in until $120. Spare me. The safety issue is important to me because it's especially important to my SO, who, because I'm a good husband, needs to be convinced of all things Tesla before we lay down $100k on a car. And thus, it's...

Resolved: second row crash test doubts

If that's what happened, that's what happened. But I'd like to hear it from someone who actually knows rather than speculation from fellow (biased) enthusiasts. Right now, all we know for certain is that the back seat detached and flew forward. And again, of all the car tests I've ever seen...

Resolved: second row crash test doubts

While I trust in Elon, I also have been around long enough -- and in a profession that makes me privy to -- to see CEOs under pressure (self imposed or otherwise) to make things happen that they sweep things much more significant than this under the rug. That's in no way to say that Elon has...

Resolved: second row crash test doubts

It's sufficient for what it's testing: injury to front passengers. It does not pretend to test for injuries to rear passengers. I created an account after seeing posts of "oh, the back seat came detached, that's weird, but let's ignore it." That's the last I will explain myself to you. If you...

Resolved: second row crash test doubts

This would seem to make more sense if the entire backseat were occupied. But if only one side is occupied, particularly by someone light, isn't there a risk of the other 2/3 of the side lifting with enough force to at least seriously jar and perhaps injure the lone passenger? - - - Updated - -...
