    Drive Unit Problem / Fixes

I sometimes get a 'clunk' when I first put the car in gear and touch the accelerator. Had one drive train replaced, and now a loud noise around 40 MPH if accelerating quickly (along with screen message saying to take in for service). I will find out if I get a 2nd replacement on Wednesday...

19" OEM Model S wheels + Perelli Winter Tires + Tesla Caps + TPMS Sensors + Lug Nuts - SOLD

I put on 1000 miles prior to winter, and bought new rims (Liango) with the winter wheels and drove 4000 miles this winter. When I switched back to non-winter tires, I decided I liked the Liango rims more and switched the tires. So the original rims only had the first 1000 miles I drove on the car.

bank "stole" my $7500 tax credit

It is confusing the way you are using the term "lease" and "lien". Either you took out a loan for the car, or you leased the car. They are not the same thing. If you took out a loan, you get the $7500, if you leased, the leasing company does. By the way, I am not aware of anyone leasing a...

    Wisconsin Supercharger Discussion & Tracking

I am in the same boat once / week, but the reverse direction. I have been checking this board every day to see when this one opened :)

    TrueDelta.com

It also takes some effort to use it. If most early Tesla models had issues with the panoramic roof, then the repair rate will be huge, even though it was one problem that was fixed. I am most curious about year 3+, since I knew there would be minor issues the first couple of years.

    TrueDelta.com

If anyone is interested in seeing reliability data on the Model S, register your car at truedelta.com. They only have 23 Model S cars registered so far (mine is one of them), but it would be great if we could get a few hundred and track how reliable the car is over a few years. Disclosure...

Fob replacement not detected but unlocks car

I have the same issue. I don't know if it is low battery, unless Tesla gave me a key fob with a low battery already (my car is only 3 months old).

    Winter Driving Experiences

Anyone have problems with brakes not engaging (or not slowing down car) after not using them for 30 minutes+ while driving? I am assuming the break pads were cold / iced (was -10F outside), but I was surprised when the car suddenly wouldn't stop (and it wasn't on ice).

how i reduce my cold weather long distance range anxiety

What is the lowest temperature you made the trip in? I go to Milwaukee quite often, and it is about 160 miles round trip. I drive about 70 MPH with heat, and had 50 miles of extra range in 35F weather, but was curious how low the temp can get before I need to change my driving habits. Also...

    Winter tire recommendations

Has anyone bought the TPMS sensors from tirerack.com? Or did you have tirerack put the tires on and then have the SC put in the OEM sensors? Any recommendations? Thank you!

    Winter tire recommendations

Is it worth getting new rims with the winter tires? Or is it OK to just swap out the tires using only one set of rims? I have 19'' wheels now. Also, in Chicago, it is mainly dry / wet pavement and not Icy. I was thinking the winter tires on the Tesla website would be fine.

    Trade in - very disappointing

I took my car to the dealer I bought my car from (Acura), and they worked with Tesla to have the sale count as a trade in (saved me taxes). The offer was slightly less than Carmax, but the tax advantage made it effectively better. The autonation quote was $2k too low. I took a value that was...

    Power Folding Mirrors

I was able to add the folding mirrors without changing my estimated delivery date of November 15th :)

November / Late November delivery (2013) VINs?

No VIN yet, but they did give me an estimated delivery date of Nov 15. I also got to test drive both the S and P 85. The P is great, but am staying with the S. Have a little concern about winter driving with all of that power.

November / Late November delivery (2013) VINs?

I confirmed on September 19th and still waiting. It also says November delivery. Hopefully that isn't delayed since I lined up a detailing shop to opti-coat the car.

    Finally placed my order tonight

That is a good point, but when you consider operating costs (just fuel, ignoring maintenance), the S85 is MUCH cheaper. The S85 (in total cost) is probably closer to a $65k ICE car, not a $90k ICE car. My math was $11,500 k tax credit (I am in IL) + $3k / year fuel cost (in Chicago and what I...

    Finally placed my order tonight

I confirmed about a week ago and have been tempted to call every day. I just keep telling myself that it is unnecessary, but has taken every bit of willpower not to call. It has been a week, so may be too late now anyway????

    60 vs 85 vs P85 vs P85+

I think $10k to go from the S to the P is significant for at least half the people buying the car. I went with the S (although just test drove the P), and assume I will be happy when I take delivery in Nov. Quite a few choices were based on cost.
