2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Same thing here. I put in a new odometer reading for my trade in and the value went up $2,000. Agreed to accept offer and was asked if I wanted to remove FSD. Clicked yes and was asked to confirm and agreeing that there would be no other changes. I accepted and the $10,000 FSD charge magically...

Doesn't seem fair somehow. Your order date of 12-24-20 (will almost be a year) should be first.

In the last couple days I have noticed the following 4 EDD's for the identical car: MS LR White/Cream/19" "Almost" RN1143 EDD 11/3-11/23 "JeffR" RN1146 EDD 10/5-10/25 "BruinIvy" RN1149 EDD 10/4-10/24 "mxxg" RN1149 EDD 12/1-12/31 (just went to Blank) For the first three, a lower RN number give...

I know that the front seats of the Plaid differ from those on the LR. Are the rear seats also different? I read somewhere (this blog or the LR one) that there was no problem replacing the rear white seat (on a LR if I remember correctly).

It seems to me that, for the most part, the new EDD’s track the RN’s much better than before. Colors and parts don’t seem to be as big a factor. LR’s with RN’s up to RN1151 correlate fairly well with delivery dates from Aug-Feb. However, I have noticed some LR RN1152’s (post price hike?) with...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

Does anyone out there know why the MSXP and MSXLR both have a top speed of only 149 mph? Earlier reports claimed the Plaid at 163 mph. Is this a tire thing?

The main advantage I see in a wall connector is power sharing. My (old) condo building can wire 4 Tesla wall connectors to a single 50 amp breaker. It’s possible to wire up to 25 WallBox wall connectors to a single breaker and power share. Great if you have a bunch of EV’s that aren’t driven much.

I wasn't trying to predict delivery dates. I was just reporting all of the date changes I noticed THIS MORNING and that had associated RN's. Only the monkey knows why things happened in the past or will happen in the future.

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

The problem of having different gearing on the front and rear is that at 250 mph top speed, one of the motors will be over 20,000 rpm.
  18. mxxg

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

0-60 time is a function of tires ONLY at this HP. Slightly better tires will give slightly better times. Also, another reason I think the roadster will have 4 motors is that it will almost impossible to find tires that will handle twice as much power to the rear wheels like the PLAID has. To get...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

Could be. I picked the 6.667:1 gear ratio because it gives 250 mph at 20,000 rpm with the 28” diameter tires which are on the refresh MS. The 250 mph and 20,000 rpm both came from Tesla. I used 4 motors because they exactly match the performance times quoted without any changes in the motors...

Dragy times for Plaid and LR

If one assumes (which one probably shouldn't) that the roadster will use 4 of the same motors as the PLAID (same power curve) but with transmission ratios of 6.667:1 instead of 7.5:1 (front and rear), a peak of 1200 hp (new battery?), a maximum of 20,000 rpm and the same tires capable of 1.3 g...

My SA in Fort Lauderdale told me that the 19” tires will be All Season. Honest!
  23. mxxg

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Another difference is the front and rear motor transmission gear ratios. PLAID has 7.5:1 front and rear. LR has 7.558:1 front and 9.034:1 rear. Also, the carbon wrapped motor rotors allow 18,000 rpm for the PLAID while the LR motors max out at about 14,058 rpm front and 16,803 rpm rear.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Could be partly because of a rubber shortage. All 19” tires ordered a loooong time ago would have been for the narrower silver wheels (and probably summer for late spring delivery). They would have to reorder after changing to the darker wider wheels. Hopefully, they are also changing to all...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Plaid won’t be doing 0-60 in 1.8 seconds anytime soon, even with 1200 hp. That’s over 1.5 g’s and I don’t think there are any street tires that can do that. 0-60 times are entirely limited by the tires, not the HP.
  28. mxxg

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

The LR should be capable of doing much better than this. 670 hp should give you over 1 g of acceleration with your tires.

I believe this is correct. In 2004 I was looking to buy a special model of a Lexus LS 430 and the only one I could find in the western half of the country was in San Diego. Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I haven't added spoilers to my calculations yet but I think it might make it possible to get from 1.99 to 1.98 sec 0-60 (PLAID to PLAID+ times). That's only a 10 ms difference or 0.5% which is 25 pounds of down force.
  32. mxxg

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

A spoiler will lower times (a little). More down force with given tires will give faster accelerations.
  33. mxxg

That could well be. I was using the 152 mph that Jay Leno posted.
  34. mxxg

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I wouldn't be surprised if your numbers don't turn out to be correct because I believe that TESLA is limiting the performance of the LR. I think that they could be: LR 1/4 mile in 10.1 s and 132 mph. I also think that it should be able to do 0-60 in 2.4 sec (no rollout)without somehow being limited.
  35. mxxg

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Actually, the numbers appear correct. Up to about 40 feet the acceleration is a function of the tires only and happens at about 1.21 seconds and 38.9 mph. Past that point the PLAID slowly pulls away. The extra HP really start to make a difference at higher speeds.

That appears to be the case in Florida. Buying a $90,000 car using a $20,000 trade-in means paying tax on $70,000.
