Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

So my observations on calendar degradation: Background: I live in Tasmania, Australia, a cooler state which you would expect would help the battery longevity as the battery remains cooler but not freezing. Had my '22 RWD for 8 months, almost no fast charging, Gen3 wall connector charged, and...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

https://www.tesmanian.com/blogs/tesmanian-blog/catl-to-supply-lmfp-batteries-to-tesla-in-q4-for-model-y-production It's not been well publicised this one, LMFP is a thing now, adds between 20 to 25% energy density over LFP, and sounds like it could be in production Tesla's soon. The manganese...

Model 3 Build Quality - What's your experience?

Out of interest is that the screws that hold the number plate bracket to the car boot or the screws holding the number plate to the bracket? And do you mean like the head of the screw broke off, or the plastic thread stripped out or something?

    Charge HQ

Unfortunately my inverter is a model that's not supported by ChargeHQ, however I do run a solar hybrid setup with a home LFP battery, so I can usually get away with setting charging to like 10 to 15A during the day and just walking away and let the house battery fill in the cloudy gaps so that I...

    2022 Model 3 RWD Acceleration

I think they may have lowered the power feed in from a dead stop a little, and it's likely running a 630 amp inverter rather than an 800 amp one (unconfirmed). Hard to tell the difference between it and previous SR+ I drove for a few days that had the performance motor, it's very quick on the...

    2022 RWD Motor spec?

😄 Yeah, looks good under there, not driven in the rain yet :) Love the tesla moulded logo on the main drive cable. Looks well put together to me. Was it finally revealed what Bjorn Nyland had in that recently tested car?

    Sentry mode

Sentry has always been a handy side benefit of the self driving tech, rather than a ground up security solution. Due to that compromise they need to run a mini supercomputer constantly that consumes 200-250 watts constantly while on. Ideally it would have separate cameras or a split feed from...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I've been doing more research on this topic. I now have more reason to believe they are actually using a lesser 630 Amp rated inverter board combined with the 3D7 motor in the RWD. I was under the impression only the motor changed but possibly not. While the motor change itself is a physical...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I don't think Tesla made the car slower to make it Australian P plate legal... How many P plate sales do you think they will have? Our entire EV market is small fry let alone just the P platers. May have similar reasons in Europe though. They could easily offer the boost and put a disclaimer...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I do agree it probably is limited in the power 'ramp up' and the variables are adjusted there though the 'lag' isn't so pronounced in the rolling test on that video above, he only got a car length in front before the other car was holding. We know the 2022 RWD has a physically lower rated...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I don't know where this person got this info but if it's accurate then the new 2022 RWD (6.1s/100kmh) only loses out in the first 0-20km/h sprint so after it's rolling it's basically the same acceleration as the older more powerful 2021 SR+ (5.6s/100kmh)...

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

You have to wonder if it was the repairer that just didn't get the order right... I mean we are all human, mistakes happen, getting the order right to begin with or expecting certain parts to come with certain bits when in reality it's another part. The problem in this case that's a new order...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Yeah totally normal the 'Pay the balance before delivery bit' it's a bit misleading by Tesla, general consensus is not to pay until after being given an actual delivery day (even some SA's say this) FYI an Invoice showed up in my account from me 12 days after I first found the hidden VIN, but...

Seems to be in the ballpark but it obviously has assumptions for road conditions. they continue to add features, you couldn't remove the aero wheel cover before but now you can. Interesting to see anywhere around 100km and hour and +/- 5km either way changes the range by approx 25km for the RWD.

    2021🦄 vs 2022 SR+ Acceleration

Yeah seems software limited at low speed seems to be the key difference. I'm surprised you managed to get hold of a new 2022 RWD for a test drive - I don't know of anyone else on the forums (or UK or NZ for that matter) that have managed to get their new 2022 RWD yet and report back! Did you...

    2021🦄 vs 2022 SR+ Acceleration

It's in USA...No hairpin motors there that I am aware of at least not in the SR+/RWD (3D6 is hairpin wound) The 2021 would have been the 3D1 motor with a 55kWh LFP pack rated at 5.6s/100km - they called it a Unicorn but from the description it's not what we would call a Unicorn which has the...

UK 2022 Orders to Delivery inc the shipping thread for posts with no shipping news

That's comparing cars with different motors. In the USA that would be 3D1 (performance) vs 3D5 (standard) motor. In the UK at this time RWD all seem to be coming with the 3D7 which is the Hairpin wound version of the standard motor and will likely perform similar to the 'slower' car in that video.

R motor is the 3D5 208kW. 5.8s to 60mph. I've seen a few UK people post their 2022 Model 3 RWD/SR+ VINs with an S, which is the 3D7 motor which is 'hairpin wound' which technically should be slightly better but probably not much in it and both motors are limited to 208kW peak. Looking further...

Nope different models were used at different times and regions, both 3D1 & 3D6 were used in the SR+ & both limited to 239kW. Just like now Europe RWD M3's from Shanghai are being delivered with 3D5 while Australia are getting 3D7, at least for now, both limited to 208kW (as seen in the VINs...

UK 2022 Orders to Delivery inc the shipping thread for posts with no shipping news

From my research.. 208kW is the actual peak power, software limited in the RWD. 194kW is the nominal power of the motor at 320v, actual RWD system voltage is higher than this thus they can make more power. 2021 LFP models were 239kW peak using the 3D6 or 3D1 motor (Performance model motor)...

Struggling between Model 3 RWD and AWD

Which as far as I can tell looks brilliant for the LFP cars so far, at least for those who monitor with TeslaFi and as reported by owners so far but understand that's only about a year max of data. I find it very interesting and will be monitoring my own car also.

How hard is it to drive a long trip in Australia (900+ Km)

Struggling between Model 3 RWD and AWD

I think 5% loss after 100,000km is high end. That's only 250 cycles. Would mean the car would almost be worn out after just 1000 cycles. I'd say half (2.5% degradation after 100k) is about on the money expected right now for the LFP battery and it may do even better. I have home LFP...

    Model Year 2022 Refresh M3/MY

LFP RWD Model is not getting a WLTP range drop in Australia. Only the LR and P are losing WLTP rated range (12 & 20km respectively) blamed on the Ryzen where Tesla is asking them to accept that range reduction in their Tesla accounts. Yet all 2022 models are basically 90% confirmed to be...

https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/model3/en_cn/GUID-E414862C-CFA1-4A0B-9548-BE21C32CAA58.html It was likely the 2022 RWD was either going to have the 3D5 or the 3D7 motor in Australia. It creates some doubt even given all the reports from Tesla SA's (including my own) that the RWD will have it, but then the Ryzen shouldn't have this much impact to WLTP range on the LR & P either as it is having so there's that as well, got to be more to the story.
