Dog Mode in Auto Transport Trailer?

The only issue is that if you’re in an area without cell service and the app Alerts you it’s disabled, you won’t know.

    Sound when near same location

I suspected it was my radar detector but it sounded like it was from the dash or passenger side. Confirmed it was radar detector. Might have “saved” a gps location/alert.

    Sound when near same location

Whenever I’m 300 yards or so from the intersection of Highway 4 and Alhambra Ave there is a three tone descending sound in the car. So far, I can nearly replicate it going west or north towards the intersection. Haven’t pin pointed the location yet. Any ideas what the sound is? (Dah-dee-doo type...

2022 MYP Steering rack Failure. Tesla DENYING warranty coverage due to aftermarket wheels 20x10 with 275 40 20 set up

It’s documented now that it was denied for x reason. Putting oe wheels on will look like a fraud claim. I’d suggest pay and sue in civil court with a professional witness on stand.

Once it hits below 80k and qualifies for tax credit, I’d jump on the X. Otherwise, I’ll see myself in a Volvo or Rivian.

Discussion: HW.4 Suite - Availability, retrofit, suitability etc.

If using FSD each and every day is a priority, I’d wait. If not, hW3 does just fine for 99% of Autopilot things.

    EV-Offer power frunk

+1. Happy with mine 1 year later and use it at least 1-2x per week. I store my sweaty gear in there so I don’t have to smell it in the car. It’s fantastic.
  9. M

Does FSD display more traffic information?

Subscription is $2,300/year, that’s like 6 years of FSD if you paid for it outright plus loss of investment and purchasing power today. If the car gets totaled or you sell it before 6 year mark, you lose. Just like a lease, never pay the down payment up front. Amortize that sh*t and don’t carry...

    Spotify

If she has a driver profile set up, she can log into her own account. Depends what software version you’re on so if it’s fresh off the lot, you might not immediately have that functionality. My wife and I share the car daily and it switches fairly flawlessly/quickly.

    Y tires

As a follow up, driving 85 mph with various breezes and cooler temperatures, I was averaging 420w/mile. At one point, into a 25 mph headwind, I was pushing into 800w/mile (equivalent to driving 110mph-ish).
  12. M

    Y tires

I put 2k on the DWS06+ and they are noisy on certain road surface types. I can imagine this worsening with age. I’ll try Michelin PSAS4 next time but saved about $400 going with the DWS so to me that was worth it. On super long drives, I’ll use AirPods to listen to music rather than car stereo...

    Model Y tire rotation schedule

Rotating costs $50 each. If you rotate 3x time mobile service, seems like it would cost you roughly 10-15% of a new set. Do you save 10% tread life by rotating?

Vredestein Hypertrac vs. Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS?

Just installed DWS06+ and have about 100 miles on them. (19” stock size/wheel). They grip really well and allow you to get the power down much better. I found the RX would want to slip and traction control is very good to not let it and will reduce power. Now power out of the gate is stronger...

    Y tires

Plus—if I like the DWS, mileage warranty should mean future sets are about $700-800 vs. $1,300 OTD.
  18. M

    Y tires

Just installed DWS06+ today. They are excellent in terms of grip. Not as quiet as the RX stock 19” tires however, they are substantially louder. I think the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 are loud and boomy and felt more vague than the DWS06’s. I think the AWD in Tesla allowed for the crappy RX tires...

Anyone who downloaded this can confirm window roll up dirk works?
  21. M

    2023.2 update

Right but the NHSA (?) indicated there are parameters in their regulations indicating there has to be physical driver input within x distance for the roll up feature. Basically if you’re within a child’s stones throw, you can possibly do it but not further.
  22. M

    Spotify vs Apple Music

Target app has a 3 month trial available for various services including AppleTV, Apple Music, Apple Fitness. 2023.2 update

Correct. So closing windows from the app or more importantly, the ability to auto close windows upon walk away/lock is getting removed from the rest who currently still have access to it at some point. Sucks as I thought the auto-roll up feature when sensing rain was a cool idea that EM...

    2023.2 update

There is discussion about removing the window roll up feature due to national safety guidelines for those cars that still have it functional. This is a feature I use and appreciate often and losing it will be painful. I want to validate anyone who gets this update with a 2021 model doesn’t lose...

Did I get scammed? [on tint and PPF install]

This makes me feel OK for spending $1k to get formula 1 Stratos tint all around. The tint I got is seamless on the edges and you can’t tell there is film installed other than the window being 50% less translucent. Terrible work. You got got. That sucks. Sounds like suing them isn’t worth while...

Some rubbing and polishing compound should fix 85% of that to a point of hardly being noticeable.

    Model Y flooded. (Maybe)

I would not have that inspected. There’s virtually nothing electronic at that level that would be a risk to submersion. You’re throwing good money away to do that. Unless you have error codes or weird noises, all is probably fine. It’s barely touching the bottom of the car based on the photos...

Towing a single motorcycle trailer - towing and efficiency report

My trailer loaded was 75# tongue weight which I would say was the max of my limit. A Uhaul trailer is very heavy and overbuilt and with a motorcycle in it, probably too heavy. Speed will kill range. At 80 I was spending like 600wh. At 55, closer to 250ish. That was during warmer-ish weather...

    Automatic Turn Signals

If GPS knows you’ll be making an upcoming then, it’ll keep singable on. For instance, in 300’ I have an upcoming left turn. I change from lane 2 to lane 1 and the signal stays on because the upcoming turn, based on current navigation route, is within 150’ or so. It’s brilliant. Well coded.

MYP slid while parked on a snow-covered driveway

What if you press and hold the park button for 3-4 seconds. Isn’t there a secondary brake applied?

I tried this for fun. Works like a charm. Cool stuff. Only ever seen this on a Mini copper back in 2010. All my other cars weren’t special enough to include this feature.

    Low pressure

As an update: after driving for 1-2 weeks with dummy light on, it turned off. I think it “calibrated” that I wasn’t going to change tire pressure from 36 psi and now it operates normally.
  41. M

    Low pressure

I had same experience of roughness after putting on several thousand miles on P7 tires. This is with stock tires. Will bump them up this weekend to get the dummy light to turn off. Still no issues at 36 otherwise. Debating what tires to go with next as these are wearing down and with new...
  42. M

    Low pressure

What is the weight rating of the iconiq? That’s more important than recommended PSI. Alas, I’ll be setting them at 36 or 37–which ever turns off the dummy light and go from there. It’s still a stiff body, harsh compression ride but the little bumps are much less harsh.
  43. M

    Low pressure

Well I think the happy number is 36 cold. That way the dummy light isn’t illuminated yet still provides a soft ride. Like mentioned, it’s rated for max GVWR which I maybe have done once. If anything, the rear tires should be a few PSI higher to accommodate weight of rear passengers or trailer...
  44. M

    Low pressure

It’s winter time and I noticed that the ride of my MY is excellent on 19” wheels. Then I noticed that my tire pressure in the cold is around 34. Probably not ideal but it does soften the ride significantly yet still have firm sidewalls for potholes and day to day driving. It’ll accelerate tire...

    Best power frunk kit?

They said it was related to the newly installed strut mounts. They were updating the version to minimize this but I never inquired for the new version as install is a PITA and I don’t notice it any longer.

    Best power frunk kit?

EV offer does cause the hood to not sit perfectly aligned though I will note. I stopped seeing this defect after about 1 month as it was so minor.
