Low pressure

Tesla specifies an Extra Load (XL) rated tire for the Model Y. General passenger vehicle tires inflation is ~35 PSI; XL rated tires require 41 or 42 PSI to meet their stated Extra Load rating. If you are not fully loading the Tesla Model Y or towing a trailer you could lower the cold tire pressure by 10% without any issue (so 38 PSI) but any lower and the tires would be underinflated. That is why the TPMS is indicating low pressure. Underinflated tires run hotter (this can lead to tire failure.) Under inflated tires typically wear unevenly with more wear more at the edges than in the center.
