PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

Got it, makes sense. Because we mainly work from home and are often out on weekends, I’m not sure that would necessarily apply to us, but I’ll have to try doing the math.

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

Based on the link that you posted, I believe the 1500 just goes towards any electrical upgrades needed in the house (i.e. breaker upgrades, outlet installation) but not the charger itself. I'm not sure I understand your RLM math. You're saying that you only need to charge 83 KwH/month to make...

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

I thought the throttle response of the i4 felt good, I find the Model 3 at one extreme (too twitchy/sensitive for me) and the Polestar 2 was at the opposite extreme, it actually felt kind of 'weak' (even though it's not) because of how far down on the accelerator you need to press in order to...

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

lol, not quite. I do have an i4 on preorder but I've never worked for or owned a BMW or any other luxury car. Model 3 doesn't look like a regular car, feel like a regular car, drive like a regular car. Interior is nothing but a tablet, and the suspension/chassis is terrible for the price range...

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

The Model 3 is exactly the kind of car for people who don’t enjoy cars lol. The model 3 has plenty of strengths but every single comparison review has the driving experience better in the i4, except straight line 0-60.
  6. S

    BMW using a brushed motor

I spent a long time looking into the Model 3, but ultimately decided on an i4 edrive40. The overall driving experience / adaptive suspension was in another league (and I'm not a BMW fanboy, never owned a car more than half as expensive as either the Model 3 or i4). I have to echo that coasting...

Auto express M3 long range review. [thread]

In US you still get 7500 off that, so it makes it an easier decision

Auto express M3 long range review. [thread]

If you compare the M3 and the i4, each car wins in a lot of categories. But a ‘rattling ride’ the i4 is not; in terms of suspension, handling, and road noise the i4 wins hands down.

Should I keep my SR+ order, or Re lease another BMW 330?

I was also going to echo whether you actually need to spend $40k on a car if you never drive. What is your definition of ‘smooth’? If you want a quiet, comfy drivetrain you should look into an accord hybrid, it feels like driving on a cloud and it’s 15-20k less. I found the Model 3 test drive to...

    Ride Quality: M3LR vs M3P

Ride Comfort isn’t a strength of the 3. You’ll need to spend an extra 2-3k on aftermarket suspension + whatever the shop will charge to install it. Sure it feels ‘smooth’ at first because there is no engine, but if you are driving over bad roads you’ll feel it.

When is 2022 Model 3 releasing?

Isn’t feeling disconnected/mushy more related to the steering than the suspension? I thought Lexus was one of the cushiest cars you can buy, at least the 350. And the common consensus I’ve seen online is that a C class is way more comfortable than a model 3.
  12. S

When is 2022 Model 3 releasing?

Yeah, I guess my main point was that I’d like some mode, whether it’s via adaptable suspension or one time configuration when ordering, to make this car feel more like a family car/daily driver for commutes. When weaving in and out of traffic at 80mph on the freeway I’m sure it feels amazing...

When is 2022 Model 3 releasing?

I have an Accord Hybrid, which is obviously not a sports car but I’d say that not only is it a super smooth drive, it’s also quieter unless I am rapidly accelerating.

Tesla Test Drive experience at Short Hills Mall, NJ

Thanks, I can confirm I went as well and the Short Hill experience is way, way better. You actually get to drive the car! And AP was enabled. I think FSD might’ve been but I didn’t try it.
  15. S

When is 2022 Model 3 releasing?

I felt like a bobble head. And the road wasn’t even bad. I understand the tire pressure can be modified but it’s not exactly a comfortable ride.
  16. S

When is 2022 Model 3 releasing?

I went for a test drive on a LR 3 and honestly I think the suspension is going to keep me from buying it. Really hope it improves in 2022. I know there are aftermarket options but I don’t want to spend another 3k on a potential 50k car.

If the rebate runs out before I get the car, will I receive the funds next summer when the program restarts?

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

At what point is it too late to place an order on hold? I’m considering holding for a few months but need a few days to decide. My window starts aug 23.
  19. S

    What's next for model 3?

Are you still expecting a refresh to be announced later this year? My office situation changed and I'll probably be delaying my car for a few months, really hoping to get a 2022 model. My #1 hope is the option for a softer suspension.

Tesla Test Drive experience at Short Hills Mall, NJ

Did you get to drive the car on 78 or anywhere else that you could get a sense of highway driving?
  21. S

Tesla Test Drive experience at Short Hills Mall, NJ

I don’t recommend the Springfield location if you are on the fence about getting a Tesla. They let you drive around an office park behind the building. The entire time I don’t think I drove above 25mph. Also AP was disabled. I was trying to make an educated decision about buying a model 3. To be...

How do you put on hold? Do you need to have a VIN?

Model 3 Review from a new Owner

Can you auto steer / lane center in the Volvo without having the cruise control active? Like you I don’t know that I can trust AP, but I like how my Honda’s lane keep assist basically steers while I work the pedals.

Model 3 Review from a new Owner

Do you think the car is still worth it, without the AP?
  26. S

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

When do you get the option to put on hold? When you get the VIN? And then that VIN would be unassigned? I’m trying to understand what would happen as we get closer to (presumably) 2022 refresh in sept/oct, I’d want to ensure I got one of those.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Same deal for me, disappeared completely.

Have had my model 3 for a month and a half [owner review]

I actually love more intrusive lane centering and it’s disappointing to me that Tesla doesn’t have the option without TACC enabled. I’m not sure how well TACC will do in NJ rush hour traffic because I know how to anticipate cars that run in and out of lanes, while I’m not sure how the Tesla will...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I only ordered a week or two ago, but if I don't have the car by next month, I'd imagine I'll just put the order on hold and wait to see if there is an October refresh / model year change, or at least strong rumors as to what is being upgraded for 2022. Anyone else planning on the same? At what...

Have had my model 3 for a month and a half [owner review]

Thanks for the review. I'm also in NJ. How do you find the suspension? I mainly take the turnpike, 280, GSP, etc. Hoping for not quite a harsh ride. Also how does the lane keep assist work when you are manually driving, especially on super narrow lanes like the parkway?
  31. S

Considering a Model 3 in NJ

How does AutoPilot behave on the turnpike, parkway, and 280 in NJ?
  32. S

When is 2022 Model 3 releasing?

I have an order placed, but I don’t have a VIN yet. If there are rumblings in Aug/Sept of a 2022 refresh in October, I’ll be able to put my order on hold? When is it ‘too late’ to put an order on hold?
  33. S

When is 2022 Model 3 releasing?

yeah, this is more of a high level concern I have with buying a Tesla. I think they’re chasing something unattainable, at least IMO no existing car on the road will ever be used to drive someone while they are asleep. I hope that I could still expect software updates to improve the basic...

When is 2022 Model 3 releasing?

Basically the situation I'm in now is: 1. I don't NEED a new car immediately, but I would ideally like to trade in my current ICE car while used car prices are high. 2. I can't trade in my ICE car until the Tesla is ready. 3. I have a deposit for a Model 3 in, EDD is in September. 4. I will...

Two questions about trade in offer

Thanks. So if the car comes greater than 30 days from now, what happens? Will I not know until the car actually arrives, what the trade in value will be?
  36. S

Two questions about trade in offer

    1. I currently have a trade in offer that is valid for 7 days for my current ICE car. Obviously I will not get my car within 7 days even if I order it today. It’s not really clear whether the trade in value gets reevaluated when the new model 3 comes in. is the estimate they give me actually...

Adjustable suspension hint in owner's manual update

sorry to revive an old thread, but adjustable suspension at this point would be more than a software upgrade, if and when it comes out, correct? So it would not be until the 2022 version at the earliest?

    Phantom Braking Discussion

Will upgrades to the FSD system be relevant for AP only? Like if phantom breaking is improved in the new fsd software, how soon would that apply to autopilot?
  39. S

Charge-Up NJ rebate program Phase 2

I’m wondering this as well. If I order today and the delivery date is 9 weeks out, I’m hoping that between now and then there will be a definitive answer. I would think that within the next 9 weeks we’ll know if and what is going to pass, or not pass. Worst case scenario I guess we’d just have...

    Phantom Braking Discussion

I would not even dream of using autopilot off of the interstate so that’s not relevant. Look all over this message board for people complaining about phantom breaking. Don’t underestimate how much lane centering reduces fatigue. I like controlling the pedals, that’s the easy part for me and...

    Phantom Braking Discussion

Almost every other car brand has lane centering without you needing to keep on a mode that can result in phantom breaking. This is my single biggest hesitation to getting a Tesla. I don’t understand why they won’t enable it, clearly the technology is there.

Elon Tweeted " all 3 / y can be upgraded to have FSD computer"?

If I bought a 2021 model today, would it have all the hardware required to run this new UI, regardless of whether or not I purchase FSD?

Charge-Up NJ rebate program Phase 2

So just to clarify, I order online, and the pickup will be set to Springfield, and the rebate will be applied when I pick it up?
  44. S

Charge-Up NJ rebate program Phase 2

I'm a little confused as to how this works. When you order the car, don't you order through tesla.com, not via a specific showroom? I'm happy to have mine go through Springfield, but how does that work when ordering online?
  45. S

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

This is probably a dumb question, but when applying a trade in vehicle, how does the trade in actually work? I'm hoping to keep the actual vehicle until the tesla is ready

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

Can you confirm if I had AP with autosteer enabled, if I set the TACC to the lowest it went, I could basically drive the car with the pedals as I prefer, and the autosteer would still be enabled while I had my foot on the pedal? I have no desire to use TACC, especially with the threat of phantom...

Is Phantom Braking Still a Problem?

This is so frustrating because I want a car with Autosteer/lane centering, but I don't trust the AP/cruise control. There's no concept of a lane centering mode right? like the lane keep system without AP enabled won't actually activate until you've already drifted, correct?
  48. S

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

Disclaimer, I haven't used AP more than a few times, but there's a huge difference between using a system that is predictable and using a system that is not. So in that sense, I can understand why someone would say dumb cruise is better. I'm confident that I can drive a 'dumb' car on the highway...

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

Interesting, thanks. But what happens when you disengage AP with the gear changer while your foot is not maintaining acceleration with the pedal? How does the car stay at speed and then how would you go from not using the pedals at all, to slowing down the car with the accelerator that isn't...

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

Thanks for the welcome! The car I currently have is an accord. I never enable CC, although I do enable the Lane Assist, which is certainly not as good as what Autosteer can do. Basically with CC off and Autosteer on, I am in full control and fully responsible for the car, but there is a subtle...
