    [UK] 2024.8.x

2024.8.7 Downloaded last night from 2024.2.8. Not had a chance to see the lights yet might go out for a drive tonight to see. Seems odd that they just release such a big feature without any fanfare.

    2023 Holiday Update

Yeah it seems if you turn if off after setting one then you get no sound on locking, mine used to toot the horn a bit. I assume that's another setting i need to turn back on...

    2023 Holiday Update

Just done my drive to work and speed cameras are certainly showing up for me, although the banner saying there was one ahead popped up for the first one then just stayed there permanently even after i had passed it and all subsequent ones. Can't say that's particularly useful...

    Tesla Alternative?

The £882 was taken from the Tesla website for a M3LR with a £1000 deposit and 15k miles. I wasnt comparing the cars as like for like, a like for like PCP quote on two cars that are far apart in list price but the more expensive one can be cheaper a month. just a demonstration that like above...

    Tesla Alternative?

Quite easily, mixture of interest rates and balloon payment payment, heres a quick comparison like for like on a new EQC and M3LR. The EQC is £15k more but £70 cheaper a month. Most people think i'm rich because i have a Tesla, or previously Mercedes and BMW's truth is it's all irrelevant i...

    So… Highland is out…

To get an i4 with similar perfomance and spec it's probably closer to £20k difference... I've still got 2 years left on my M3 and the exact debate i'm having is what to replace it with and it's coming down to another M3LR or go back to ICE and a 430i(after having one as a hire for about a week...

M3 Refresh - Are Indicator buttons really poor design?

It only auto did it on first moving off from park so i guess not unless you go into park after every point??

M3 Refresh - Are Indicator buttons really poor design?

The auto select on my very limited experience actually worked well, and picked the correct direction everytime, and the drive select on screen is really no more hardship than the stalk

M3 Refresh - Are Indicator buttons really poor design?

They should be on either side of the wheel as buttons that would at least make it kinda ok. Both on the one side next to each other is silly and could be dangerous as you need to actually look which button to press when they are so close. I've driven an S in America and even there without...

LV insurance hike - quick sense check

I was actually surprised mine hasn't gone up more, last year for my M3LR was £387 with Churchill. Since then I've has 2 bumps (1 hitting a deer and another with a Van that still isnt settled:mad:) So my NCD has gone from 9+ to 1. This years renewal quote is £748. Cheapest comparison I've found...

    Ending a Tesla Lease early

I actually contemplated ending my lease early after the Truss mini budget last year as my Mortgage is due for renewal november this year, would've cost me about £8k to end early so never did. Thankfully rates settled down a bit and I managed to get a product transfer a few weeks back when I hit...

    Insurance troubles May 2023

I'm dreading August, after not having an accident since passing my test in 2004 in the last 8 months I've had 2 with the Tesla, the first an altercation with a Van pulling out in front of me who is still arguing i was pulling away too fast from traffic lights but i have a witness backing me up...

M3 been in bodyshop for 5+ months - both batteries dead

Mine has been into Mitchell Inglis in Glasgow twice in 6 months for two accidents, forst one took 7 weeks last november for a new wing, bumper, wing mirror and two alloys. Was in last month again for a new bumper and bonnet and got it back within 9 days to my surprise. I'd maybe be seeing if i...

Rumour: Model 3/Y to lose stalks in 2023 model year

I've driven the Model S plaid whilst in the US a few months ago and i actually quite like the gear selection being on screen for all the time you use it anyway, also probably helped by the fact i'm right handed so in a LHD car was fine, not sure how i'd fare in a RHD car doing it with my left...

    Front wing damage - recommendations?

Take this with a massive pinch of salt but on speaking to the delivery guy dropping my car off on Friday after me mentioning i was surprised it only took 9 days to get back. He said that 60 containers full of parts arrived in Amsterdam destined for the UK not long ago so parts issues should be...

    Front wing damage - recommendations?

I'm up in Scotland where there are only two approved body shops, and both times insurance has sent it to Mitchell Inglis in Glasgow. They have actually been alright with plenty updates throughout both repairs and the repair quality was spot on both times.

    Front wing damage - recommendations?

I had similar damage last year after a van pulled out and sideswiped me, needed new front wing, wing mirror and front bumper. Took about 7 weeks from incident to getting car back from approved body shop. On a side note my car was in again more recently after a deer ran out in front of me and...

    Oh Deer, repair estimate

I’ve done a quote and taking worse case senario of two at fault claims eliminating my NCD will be roughly £1.5K for the year up from this years £400ish
  23. C

    Oh Deer, repair estimate

Ouch, that's my fear with mine at least £1k for new painted bumper, unsure if the bonnet is repairable but not going to be cheap to fix. Passenger wing is slightly misshapen but should be saveable. Doesn't include any potential issue behind bumper so think it has to be an insurance job. Still...

    Oh Deer, repair estimate

Well after having my car back 4 months a deer decided to run in front of the car. Bumper took most of the brunt but bonnet also caved in a bit. Bumper cracked especially near top and bonnet bent inward a bit. Pictures below. Insurance excess £800 but I’m guessing this will cost more than that...

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

You can just schedule it yourself most of the time, the octopus T&C's require you to do a smart charge at least once a month

Something was definitely up with the servers last night as when I woke up in middle of the night I noticed my Home Screen Tesla widget was just a warning triangle instead of showing battery %. Also as mentioned elsewhere my map tiles not loading has been like that for a month or so now.

I got that email as well along with a notification the day earlier saying unable to control charging when the car was in the middle of an update, also coincidentally after the car had been parked at the airport for 3 days. Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Is it really that hard to set up in the car a scheduled ready to depart time that matches what is set in the octopus app so it doesn’t immediately start charging when plugged in? In the bit over two months I’ve had IO all I’ve ever done is arrive at home at night plug in the car then forget...

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Twitter is very public so they don’t want to be seen to be giving bad customer service. As a slight example I was on a train in first class and LNER refused to give me a cup of tea until after they had served a meal an hour later once I would have been off the train. I posted on LNER’s twitter...

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

I’ve always got a schedule within about 10 minutes of plugging in, usually straight away. Only time I’ve had an issue is when car went straight to sleep basically so IO didn’t realise anything was plugged in. I woke the car up via the Tesla app and got a plan as normal. If you’ve set the...

Got my second bill from IO today and just to add to other comments this one had portions that lie outside the normal 6 hour window and even though the car had finished charging about an hour earlier all the segments in the charge plan were priced at the off peak rate.

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

After using Turo and renting a Model S plaid while in California the other week, I would not pick a yoke given the choice as trying to do turns is just annoying also the moving indicators that half way though a turn end up upside down so you press the wrong one is just stupid. The gear...

Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

If it is the same as the eon next one then you are only credited for the exact kWh added but due to the inefficiencies in charging with AC it actually takes a little more than that to achieve. That little extra which I found was about 1-2kWh a charge is full rate. As Octopus is just off peak...

Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

It appears to be the same set up as the eon next tariff I was on before it ended and moved to Octopus. They monitor via an app how much you have charged the car then give you a credit on your bill relating to that amount. Eon next used the ev.energy app whereas this looks like the Kaluza app.

Given the issues they had i would be tempted to disconnect and reconnect your car to the app, i got notification straight away after test connection i was on intelligent.

My app is exactly the same, however the IO schedule that was created before the issue appears to have been kept to.
  41. C

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

I have the car departure scheduled for 6am and to only charge during off peak hours which is set for 5:30. Car does not charge when plugged in and IO creates a schedule within 30 minutes and happily controls all the charging without having to go near Tesla app.

Check on this website what it says about your meter that it’s in smart mode with octopus. https://smartmetercheck.citizensadvice.org.uk/ When I switched last week the move was much smoother than I anticipated as I have a SMETS1 meter but it transferred over and started giving smart readings...

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Certainly sounds like a car issue rather than an octopus issue. No signal getting through so the charge can’t be controlled. If the car is in a place with otherwise good cellular signal maybe get it booked into service to get it looked at.

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

I know when i was on the eon tariff before using the ev.energy app the app lost it's authentication key periodically so couldn't control the car anymore. IO seems to be using the same sort of software and you just had to disconnect the car from the app then re-connect it so it gets it's...

    Disappearing Miles (SHOCKED )!

I kinda wish Tesla would just remove the miles option from the display. It’s a fictional number based on ideals that is unachievable in real life. Also baffles me how many times you have to explain this to people and yet they still haven’t a clue and think their mileage is “disappearing “...
