Detailed Comparison May build 2022 Model Y LR7 vs 2019 Subaru Ascent 7 seat premium pkg

Nice comparison, but couldn’t disagree more 😄 The jerky fake shifting cvt, multitude of buttons we never even used and top heavy design make the ascent feel super archaic. Ours was at the dealer all the time. We were subaru fanatics and were overjoyed when it was announced, now we know better...

    CCS Adapter - ?

I think I’m the only one that believes not selling them here right now is a good move. The CCS networks could get really stressed in the near future with slow charging cars and cars/trucks with huge packs being charged to full by novice EVers. Adding in cheap Tesla owners like me might make...

Hyundai vs. Tesla | Why Hyundai Poses the Biggest EV Threat

If I was shopping for a new car, I would not consider a car with 8k miles worth of boogers in it? So I still don’t see any NEW inventory 🙃

Hyundai vs. Tesla | Why Hyundai Poses the Biggest EV Threat

I see your point about, let’s coin it, “the used car bubble.” 😄 I don’t see the new car inventory 🤷‍♂️ In my mind, new cars are not the same as used cars.

Hyundai vs. Tesla | Why Hyundai Poses the Biggest EV Threat

I’m not sure what you are implying 🤔 It seems to me like thousands of people are still waiting months for their new Teslas. Just because these same people don’t want to pay 56k for a three year old rear wheel drive model 3 with 30k miles doesn’t mean there isn’t substantial demand for new cars.

Hyundai vs. Tesla | Why Hyundai Poses the Biggest EV Threat

I think you are pretty spot on, all the rich people around here are lining up for model X at that price point. We happened to snag an inventory 3 during an end of quarter/year push probably thanks to someone here putting a hold for non existent incentives. 😂 Obviously that is the exception...

Hyundai vs. Tesla | Why Hyundai Poses the Biggest EV Threat

So if everything lines up while charging an Ioniq 5… perfect battery temp, CCS available, not broken and charging starts within a minute then I will save 2 minutes on a road trip charging stop? 🤷‍♂️Does the efficiency of a Tesla then negate being able to add more kWh in a given time?

    3 Car seats Model Y Performance 2022

Had 3 wide car seats in the back of a Subaru WRX 😄 it’s been a while but the model I found was a Diono radian. When the kids got older they even all fit front facing three wide. There seems to be much more room in the Y. Just a tip for anyone searching 👍

    CCS Adapter - ?

You are not alone, I thought the same thing. Last time I went to an EA it was like watching musical chairs, or musical chargers 🙃 On EA’s site they state the extra cable is for ease of connection but I’d hazard a guess it is to add redundancy and increase uptime Maybe we should be regulating...

    CCS Adapter - ?

I picked an adapter up and tested it out last night as well. The only CCS in our town is an evgo that has had the cables cut since February. I drove to the nearest 350kw EA where 3 of the 4 stations were broken. The station that worked had a faulty nfc reader and a difficult to read screen, but...

Found a 10mm ball bearing - Seat Belt Related

🤔 maybe a passenger’s shoe tread picked it up and deposited it? Good luck on your quest, if it were from a bearing, at 10mm, it would be sizable.

5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

That is strange behavior, sometimes I would have to end and restart our navigation during the trip. Somehow after a few charging stops the calculations would be off. Certainly doesn’t sound the same as what you describe so can’t be much help there. Maybe a hard reset and try again approach 🤷‍♂️...

5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

I’m a big “just in case” guy and started to toy with the idea of ordering one of the Korea CCS adapters. The juice just isn’t worth the squeeze for me at that price point. I never felt the need for that safety blanket on our trip, but I have also never ran into a big charging line 🤷‍♂️ One of...

Detroit to Boston in Model Y LR

Good luck on your trip. You will be an expert by the time it’s over, the car navigation is your friend 😂 when charging pay attention to your arrival state of charge estimate, the lower you arrive the faster you will charge. With the family you probably want some buffer, but from my experience...

5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

I like your plan 👍 sometimes us EV owners produce excess “smug” instead of smog. (Shamelessly ripped off from south park) Change is hard for many people but once they get talking most humans have the capability of being cool.

Another Model Y or go with a Model 3?

We have a MYP and decided to add a M3SR based on efficiency. I kind of wish it was the other way around as I would love the performance of a M3P and the utility of a MY7. On the flip side, I find myself taking the M3SR quite often for errands and appreciate having a smaller, more nimble and...

5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

Maybe, I guess it depends on how much gas costs and what mpg a Prius does at 80 mph. I doubt it would be as comfortable and have the ability to store enough luggage without a roof carrier that would tank mpg. I think a better comparison size wise would be with a model 3. I know my wife’s model...

Yes! I like the wife’s idea 🤣 can you tell I’m trained well? We did that drop ride by the Pigeon Forge SC and would highly recommend it. Not sure if you are familiar with the old demon drop at Cedar Point… but it is better

5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

I wish I would have reset my trip odometer 😭 I think we did about 340 based on mileage and kWh charged. You are totally right about the SC network getting better. Most of the time we stayed between 10% and 60% and that 50% range charges in 15-20 minutes and gave us about 2 hours of 80mph...

We took 75 south from Cincinnati and charged at Lexington and London and charged a little extra in London because the Knoxville SC seemed a little out of the way and we easily made it to Pigeon Forge. 5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

Oh good question! I used to have terrible PB, but it almost disappeared a few updates ago. I would say we experienced around 5 events total on our trip. All coincided with mirages and undulating roads. We got so we could almost predict when it would happen.

Yeah, we probably spent less considering we were looking at multiple destinations and would have had to have a rental car as well. We certainly didn’t do it to save money 😅 I wanted my kids to “see the diversity of our nation.” They were fascinated with the drive and it was fun seeing my kids...

5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

Interestingly I didn’t really focus on the miles covered. It was basically charger to charger for long distance driving. When at the charger, we would leave when it estimated the arrival charge of 15-18%. This let the battery get low enough for really fast charging and the least amount of time...

Should I talk my wife out of an X and into a Y?

lol, you seem nice 😄 I consider myself a Y enthusiast and always kind of lusted after an X. It never really went away, but it has lessened since we took a huge road trip. I come from luxury sedan land (don’t want to say what so I don’t get shamed) and really thought the lack of air ride would...
