    Harry’s review of the highland…

He's gone from 'oh my God I can't possibly stop for 5 minutes to charge an EV' to 'it's only 5 minutes' now. It's interesting how's he changed position.

MY LR Breakdown in France. 18 months old.

Might be worth joining the Telsa UK owners club to see if you can get better help. There's bound to have been people that have had this hassle before. Is the car under finance? Might be worth contacting finance company to put pressure on Tesla to stick to the early repair date if the part has...

How many people are having connectivity issues?

Don't know whether it is connected but the app seems to be dog slow at connecting to the car at the moment. Coverage has been the same. Mostly ok but the odd drop out with the blank squares of doom.

    MCU2 repair costs?

Oh. Didn't know it was MCU1 only. Car is June 2018 reg so I had assumed MCU2. Online photos don't show the extra info thing with the processor information. I'd have guessed MCU1 anyway just by the look of it rather than it being MCU2. It's high mileage so cheaper and the right colour so it was...

    MCU2 repair costs?

I've seen a Model X for sale with the horrible yellow banding on the main MCU screen. It's out of base warranty. Does anyone know what it costs to fix the problem permanently?

    Tesla app

There is a SIM upgrade for some model S. I had one last year. Worth checking in the service section to see if it is in there.

    Keyless Car Thefts

There's the gameboy device around that breaches any security with the rolling code vulnerability. That is another step on from the relay theft technique.. More worrying this video suggests it's easy to order replacement keys from abroad with just the VIN so you can just take any car at all.

How many people are having connectivity issues?

Motorway run yesterday and there was only one blank map issue which was of course when trying to change route mid journey. Seems a lot better. Coverage is still a bit weak but there's not as many rolling white map squares as there was. Still too much routing without traffic data.

    [UK] 2024.2

On this new branch now. Mileometer is displaying correctly now. Previous software it wouldn't update each mile but wait and go up 5-10 miles at once. Very weird. Connectivity still about the same. No great improvement. Haven't been on a long trip though so could be utter crap once it's out of...

EVSE died after 7years and 23MWh. Low cost dumb EVSE replacement recommendations ?

Another vote for the Tesla wall connector. I had a Rolec dumb charger that died. You can't buy a new dumb charger now but you can buy a used one and install that. Also the PEN protection is insisted upon even if a replacement for a dumb charger. Tesla one shows up in the app and you can set max...

    [UK] 2023.44

The auto wipers are still not wonderful on the rain sensor cars. They are slow to start so I usually have to poke the manual wipe button several times then they suddenly realise what they're supposed to be doing.

    [UK] 2023.44

Anyone else got a weird odometer display update glitch with this branch? Updated to 44.30.14 last night. Today's drive it stuck on 80994 for an age then hopped over 81,000 and it's not counting up one mile at a time. It waits then does a jump. It's really strange. It was doing every other mile...

    Model X alarm issue

I'd try the basics first and replace the keyfob battery and check to see if there are any updates for the fob as well.

How many people are having connectivity issues?

If it's happening a lot then Tesla need to be badgered to replace these FOC and warranty them for a good amount of time after the first replacement.
  15. S

How many people are having connectivity issues?

No connectivity at all is different to the taking an age for it to come back. I'd definitely pursue the consumer rights angle. If it's failed just outside warranty and it's only lasted a few years it's not very good. If you get into service mode does it tell you anything helpful? Most useful...

How many people are having connectivity issues?

3G is also capacity. If they all disappear there's a lot more load on the 4g side so if they haven't increased it enough then you have signal but it's no use. I can see that being possible. Mine is slightly better. The white blocks aren't quite as common as before so there's probably more than...

How many people are having connectivity issues?

It's after the end of January. Has there been a proper announcement on what it was and whether it's fixed?

Model S limiting to 24/32A on new charger.

I don't use the in car schedule. It's far easier than faffing about with complicated ways of making it do what I want. I don't do enough miles to need an off peak tariff so it doesn't matter when the car actually charges, just that it does.
  19. S

Model S limiting to 24/32A on new charger.

Mine has a similar issue. If the car is set to instant charge and not scheduled it will charge at full speed. If you use the car/app timer it won't. If you charge it at full speed and then set a schedule for later it will keep the full speed. It has to be plugged in and start charging to get...

    Car on old firmware

What MCU have those that haven't got updates got? Is it MCU1 owners only or a mix of MCU2 and MCU1 owners? I have MCU2 but no cameras other than the reversing camera.
  21. S

    Car on old firmware

I have the current software on a 2014 Model S. No AP hardware on the car at all. It's just on the normal release versions.
  22. S

How many people are having connectivity issues?

Update has improved things slightly in that when the coverage goes it is a bit better at snatching some data when it comes back briefly. It seems more on and off before as previously it would show the strike through for several minutes rather than have it pop on and pop off more quickly. Drove...

How many people are having connectivity issues?

I raised a service request with Tesla. They're trying to charge me a £99 diagnosis fee! Anyone else had that?

How many people are having connectivity issues?

Went out yesterday and most of the journey had the signal strike through. It reconnects ok most of the time and I've never bothered rebooting it to get it back as it will just come back eventually. I wonder what point in the future would allow a starlink receiver in the wing mirror? That would...
  25. S

How many people are having connectivity issues?

How much of the issues are related to the 3G switch off that is continuing? Tesla changed the SIM in my car, I assume hoping to improve coverage but it isn't that much better. Still a lot of the grey boxes in the maps. They do seem to re-populate a bit quicker than before though. Coverage...

    Home charging dropping to 16A

Oddly it charged sometime today even though it was set for 9.15 last night. Have re-activated Tronity that should record what it gets up to. It's how I found out the charge speed was odd before.
  27. S

    Home charging dropping to 16A

Interesting. I checked the charge speed with Tronity ages ago and it was showing it wasn't the 7kw I was expecting. It was about half that. Will have to use a timer when I can check in the app as to what the actual charge speed is. Plus check on the wall charger info as it shows it there too.
  28. S

    Home charging dropping to 16A

I'm probably going to end up poking Tesla service about it. I think it's some daft glitch. I'll probably switch it off timed altogether and leave it on full speed and see what happens. Then if it stays top speed then it's definitely not the installation or local supply as when it's on immediate...
  29. S

    Home charging dropping to 16A

Voltage is generally 238-242v whenever I've checked. Got a readout on a UPS that shows incoming supply voltage. As soon as you flip to scheduled the app shows max 16 amps immediately. I've changed the time from over night to later in the evening. Same result. I don't think it's taking into...
  30. S

    Home charging dropping to 16A

It's read on the car. It's in the same location so there is no logical reason that timed would be different from immediate.
  31. S

    Home charging dropping to 16A

True. But I really want to find out why it is doing it. It's been bugging me for ages!
  32. S

    Home charging dropping to 16A

It's not a time related thing specifically as I changed the scheduled time before to different times and literally any schedule time will make it drop back. I use the scheduler in the tesla app for the car. I have tried it from within the car and it did the same as far as I remember. You have...
  33. S

    Home charging dropping to 16A

Thread revival! I've had similar issues with a 2014 Model S since I got it in 2021. Will charge at full 32 amp on immediate charge but if you use timed charge then it will just drop back to a poor 16 amp max. Not the charger as it's now using a Tesla wallbox and it's doing the same thing as it...

Anywhere in UK fit accessories for Model S?

I'd try Cleevely Mobile. If they don't they are likely to know if someone else will. They do the power frunk for the 3 so I assume they would do the one for the S too.

Model S MOT Recommendations? (North London)

Ideally you want a HEVRA garage that does MOTs for vans as well as they have the bigger lifts. I went looking for one for when fatty needed an MOT last year. Takes a while to scroll through the HEVRA places and find one that has the magic combination.

3 car seats in the back

One of these might help?? Child Car Seats - 4 Child Car Seat, 3 Child Car Seat & Accessories Just noticed someone else posted the same. Oops. Model S is wider than a 3.

    Direct Line - Modifications

DL don't seem to be bothered about wheel changes. Mine weren't extra either. Check the small print. They may have specified in the policy modifications aren't paid out on so you are free to modify the car but they'll only put it back to standard.
  38. S

    Model S - Battery Issue

Talk to Cleevely Mobile. I'd bet they can do a proper diagnostic. If Tesla can't do a safe diagnostic with it in the car the most that should be paid is the cost to drop the battery out of the car and have it checked over properly. Sounds like the Tesla just aren't up to that kind of work and...

Before replacing it completely it's worth contacting Cleevely to see if it can be repaired instead.

    SIM card change Model S?

So nobody else has had this?? MCU2 SIM swap book time turned out to be 2 hours. The all day catastrophe was an exaggeration but turns out work is needed for MCU2. Anyone heard anything about Telsa changing mobile networks in the UK maybe? Is there anyone else with a Model S that has had this...

    Loosing maps / satellite imagery

Mine does the same. The grey tiles even happen on wifi when you move the map to a new area. It takes ages to actually load the content. It used to be instant. I suspect what someone needs to do is to understand how selling a ton more cars is going to increase bandwidth required by google and...

    Service

Cleevely Mobile are your best bet. I've been using them for a while. It's also worth hunting out local HEVRA garages that do MOTs as at some point that will be required.

    SIM card change Model S?

From another post. Does anyone know if the RHD cars also have a sim slot next to the MCU cage and how long it takes to access these? The mobile person seemed surprised not to see the extender but it looks like the pre 2015 cars have no extender but neither does the MCU2. I still feel this is...

    SIM card change Model S?

This week I had a message pop up in the app about a free service to change the SIM card. I have an MCU2 car so I'm not sure why it is needed as it's already using 4G/LTE and wouldn't it have been big news if tesla were switching data provider? Doesn't fix the blank map tiles either apparently...

Considering all the safety features in modern Teslas how are any of them having accidents? 🙃🤔

    TESLA Y INSURANCE RECOMMENDS

Lots of insurers just won't insure Teslas. Direct Line have most of the market so can pick and choose who they insure. DL were £1000 which was much higher than the year before. I did try Nova/Novo or whatever they are called in Liverpool. They were nearly £2k. Worst was from Adrian Flux. They...

    M3P Brake Service £358??

Cleevely Mobile go all over the country. They serviced the brakes on my S. Having used local garages and had one drop the S on the jack twice and screw up a simple wheel alignment I'd use Cleevely every time for anything they can do as they'll do it properly!
