Tesla blesses other cars blocking two stalls due to short cord

I've read through the first page and last page of this. Around me, in the Toronto area, the Superchargers that show up as available are ones that are usually lightly utilized. None of the busy ones, including a new 32 stall one on the Toronto border, are included. I'm pretty sure that Tesla...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I had similar repairs. Don't know the part numbers now. It was done in early 2022. No issues since, but last winter was relatively warm, not as warm as South Carolina. I'm still nervous about it going. i have about 8k km on the warranty and am hoping we get some -20 weather for a few days in...

Need for Tesla Advertising / PR

Yesterday I read an article about the Blazer EV and rising inventory. I went to Google to see if there was any local inventory (Canada) and I saw this... They have clearly started to advertise on Google. I don't know if I've ever seen this before when searching EVs

Supercharger - Mississauga, ON - N Service Road

The Burloak DC chargers at the Shell station there looked ready to go for many, many months (maybe close to a year) before being powered on. Oakville Hydro (and all these utilities) move glacially slow when it comes to powering these.

I tried that last night and it wouldn't give me location data. I might try again today. Right now the only fork working for me is seanlw

Supercharger - Burlington ON - Appleby

Might be reading too much into this, but yesterday there was a JML pickup truck in the lot to the north side of the Fortinos. Didn't see anyone around it though, otherwise I would have asked them about this. JML is the local SC contractor so they may be getting ready to get the project started.

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I did the same thing. The teslamatefork wasn't working for me (I kept getting an error when it tried to download), but the seanlw fix at least has my car showing up again (haven't gone for a drive in the 5 minutes since it was installed, but the car location is showing up again). The whole...

Model Y standard range battery LFP?

Canadian RWD are (were - we are now getting Fremont 3's but that might just be until the refresh comes this way??) from China. They are from my understanding LFP and can charge to 100%.

    Tesla Re-painted. Need some advice

I'd get it repainted. I'm currently working to get some warranty work done that will require repainting of at least 3 doors and the rear hatch. My Y, VIN 119xxx, was so poorly assembled. I didn't worry about it at first but after a few years, the rear doors not flush with the front has exposed...

Does everyone use Time of Use Electricity rates?

Here in Ontario, they are rolling out an Ultra Low Overnight plan. I just signed up for it about 6 weeks ago and should get the first bill this week. I've calculated my commodity costs will be about 2/3rds of what they previously were on our old ToU plan. The new plan is ULO 2.4c/kWh (11 pm - 7...

Rear Hatch Misalignment - Will Tesla Cover it?

I went to the local Service Centre to ask about this problem and they told me the same thing. They also told me to take it to a body shop to get a quote for possible warranty repair. I went to the local Tesla Collision Centre and with in a second of describing it, the guy working there told me...

Rear Hatch Misalignment - Will Tesla Cover it?

I was cleaning the inside of my 2021 vintage Model Y VIN 11x xxx yesterday. It was the first time I really gave the inside of the rear hatch a clean, so that ledge is usually dirty. When I was doing so, I noticed that there was a black mark that wouldn't come off. Upon further inspection, I...

Supercharger - Oakville, ON - Speers Road

There's a bank of 3 - 4 50 kW DCFC's at a Shell station at Great Lakes and Rebecca. The units were installed a long time ago (maybe even a year already), but haven't been powered on. Oakville Hydro (and all utilities) need to get on board quicker.

Supercharger - Mississauga, ON - N Service Road

No v4's yet? Will be interesting to see how other vehicles integrate into the Supercharger network with the short cables. Lots of new ones being built, but locked into last gen technology.

About $100 off one's monthly car payment

I think TCO and when I look at my use case, EVs are way ahead when it comes to that. My Y, original SR cost me CAD $56k plus tax, financed at 2.4% - the lowest interest on any of my debts, so absolutely no rush to pay it off before other debts including mortgage. With taxes that's $63k. A...

Real World Range on 4680 Battery?

They won't play the LFP card in NA until LFP plants are up and running in the US with IRA approved sourcing. A $40k USD LFP Y SR with half tax incentive is still close in price to the LR at $50k. It would be great here in Canada now though. It could be possibly priced to take advantage of our...

Real World Range on 4680 Battery?

Limits to 32A. I have a 30A EVSE at home so that doesn't matter to me. I also have the original Y SR. It really was the best bargain Tesla. Don't regret going with it at all. Having said that, I would go LR instead of the current AWD. The SR was CAD$13k cheaper than than the LR and with it...

    Premium connectivity vs tethering

Not true. With basic and hotspot, Tesla streaming still works. In my area a lot of the AM stations are substations on HD FM radio. You can also use Tune In to find them streaming.

    Premium connectivity vs tethering

I hotspot whenever I want to stream audio. The map works on Standard Connectivity. Not worth the CAD$14 or so to me monthly and we don't have an annual plan here.

Different Sentry Drain Based on Starting SoC

After doing some investigation, it appears that this is the explanation for what I am seeing. I have been charging to 65% (starts charging at 2:30 am) the last few days and even with the car plugged in, by 7:00 am the car is in the low 60's (61 - 62% or so). It shows that vehicle standby has...

Different Sentry Drain Based on Starting SoC

I've noticed this interesting behaviour from my Model Y SR since I've had it. I charge up to 70% from 2 am to usually 4 am. I get to work just after 9 am and park with Sentry on. On days I arrive at work with ~65% SoC, I see ~6% drain. TeslaMate shows ~500W average draw. On days when I skip...

J1772 Wall Charger: Side Holster With Adapter

    Wow, 36.5 is out

The trend I've noticed is that I typically get updates either Tuesday afternoon or Friday evening. Not 100%, but I don't hold my breath waiting except on those days now. Hoping for 36.5 tomorrow. I was wondering if .5 was the highest so thanks to the OP for sharing.

Insurance to cover appreciation of Model Y

That's all I'm looking for. My current insurer caps payouts at a maximum of what I paid even if the market price for a similar vehicle of the same make and model is more. Of course if it's less, they pay less. I had to explain the fact that my 1.5 year old vehicle was worth more than I paid for...

Insurance to cover appreciation of Model Y

I was looking for insurance that would cover the difference between the cost I paid for my Model Y SR (CAD$56k plus tax) and the current market price (peaked at $86k now down to $69k). The max they would pay out in the event of a loss would be what I paid and not what it would cost to replace...

Insurance to cover appreciation of Model Y

But was that less than purchase price? That's where the issue is with my insurance. They'll pay out up to what I paid for the vehicle which is less than the current value. Edit: Based on current listing prices the delta between price paid and what I would get is rapidly closing so the problem...

Insurance to cover appreciation of Model Y

It's not a case of wanting insurance to cover more than it's value. I'm looking for like for like coverage. Model Y Tow Hitch Sensor Message

Honestly it's not a big deal to just deal with the sensor error. I just let the sensors freak out (it's colour on the screen as if you are backing into something) and use AP. I would bring the bikes and skip renting them.

Model Y Tow Hitch Sensor Message

Good find! Unfortunately that wasn't my experience just last week with bikes behind me. I had the sensors detecting an object and not bikes (warning me I was hitting something going backwards or sensors obstructed going forwards).

Model Y Tow Hitch Sensor Message

If I turn on Trailer Mode with the bike rack on, it stops the message and car from reacting angrily when I back up, but it also takes away Autopilot. I find no real harm in leaving Trailer Mode off and just paying extra attention when backing up.

Unexpectedly buying a 4680 MY: Hit me w/ your best tips & budget accessories please!

Other than all weather mats, the most important accessory for me was the trailer hitch. It's been incredibly useful but that all depends on what you're planning on using your Y for. (I have the OG Y SR - congrats on getting the Y Mid-Range!)

Insurance to cover appreciation of Model Y

I bought my Y SR in February 2021. Since then, the replacement cost has skyrocketed from the original $56k (CAD) plus tax to over $80k plus tax (for a used SR RWD in Canada). I'm in Ontario with Intact Insurance. Reading through my documents, they will pay the lesser of the purchase price or...

What will happen to current owners once Tesla drops the price of new Y's?

My concern is the opposite. My insurance renewal is coming up and my policy pays the lowest of the price I paid and the replacement cost. I paid CAD$65k for my Y SR with hitch and taxes. The same vehicle in Canada today is $81-86k plus tax. Since this never happens, my broker has gone...

    Battery Cost

If you only charge to 80%, the LFP 3 gives you more daily range than the Y Performance (303 rated, 242 at 80%). LFP 3 can be at 100% every day. Where it will be noticed is for trips when SC. You will also notice the extra cash from going Y Performance to 3 RWD, so there will be pros and cons...

2024 Chevy Blazer EV: Up to 320 mile range, MSRP between $45-$66k, plus a “Police Pursuit” model

So what you are saying is that with Tesla everyone pays market adjustment. With other EVs you might have to depending on particular circumstances. With Tesla's pricing there is a lot of ground in the market available to other EV makers. In Canada, a 1LT or ID.4 is essentially half the price of...

2024 Chevy Blazer EV: Up to 320 mile range, MSRP between $45-$66k, plus a “Police Pursuit” model

I've read a lot here about comparisons. The Blazer, Mach-E, ID.4 and all the other EVs with base prices under $50k are not competitors with the Model Y. If you can afford a Model Y LR or MYP, you're not in the market for a Blazer 1LT or 2LT. They would be direct competitors if Tesla still...

    Battery Cost

Interesting information. Hopefully I'm a long way off still, but I wonder if I do need a replacement whether they'd allow me to buy an LR pack for my SR RWD? I would imagine unless custom ordered there are no replacement SR packs for the Y and won't be any years down the road when I might want...

What's your next EV after Tesla?

For the US price you get a lot. I would second the comments about the Bolt feeling peppier than the Y. My problem with the Bolt is GM and the way the lack of communication with customers around the recall and timing. The brake booster was also making a clicking noise that was covered by a...

What's your next EV after Tesla?

I'm hoping to drive my Y for many years to come. My lady, currently driving a 4 year old Bolt with brand new, longer range battery, will be up next in a few years. She does not want a Tesla due to Elon's ramblings so I guess we will see when the time comes. There are a lot more options than...

Tow package worth buying for one time use and then never again?

I don't know if I'd buy it for one time use. I have the Tesla hitch on my Y SR RWD and have used it many times. When towing a 5x9 U-Haul closed trailer, I was getting about 300Wh/km which is about double what I normally get. I've done plenty of hauling with a utility trailer too and just...

Lost my entire front plate and assembly in the storm

I lost mine too when we drove through a windrow the plow left on the road. It was already loose - on the "to-do" list to get it replaced before the storm but it fell off early.
