    Average Wh/mi since owning?

Model Y Long range exactly two years old. 16,000 miles. Energy use reported by the car: 272wh/mi Energy put in reported by the car (charge session stats): 328wh/mi Energy put in reported by the wall box (charge session stats) (i.e. how much I’ve actually paid for): 348wh/mi Taking the last...

any recommendations for reliable air inflator

I have this one from Rocky Creek. It's for a motorcycle (I have one of those as well) so it's tiny but it's powerful enough for a car. I also use an adapter from Amazon to plug it in. The pump, adapter, pliers and tyre plug kit all fit into a very small bag that can go pretty much anywhere in...

What happens when you drive from UK to Europe? Headlight? Self drive overtaking?

I use emovis (Emovis Tag UK), which sounds like the one you describe. It's actually no hassle at all. Set up the account, order the tag, drive, pay the bills and that's it. There are other, and probably cheaper ones, but I find this one convenient.

The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 (UK)

In the introduction to the legislation it defines what it means by Public charge points in this it says: “(2) A public charge point does not include— (…) (b) a charge point restricted for the exclusive use by— (i) a vehicle produced by a specific manufacturer;” Does this mean the a the Tesla...

What happens when you drive from UK to Europe? Headlight? Self drive overtaking?

I don’t use headlight deflectors and I don’t adjust my headlights when I travel to mainland Europe (and yes, I’m a horrible person). Thirty years ago when I was living in Germany I planned a trip to the UK taking my German car for the first time. I went into the local ADAC office to ask about...

Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

Hypervolt reports 25.48KWh Car reports 23KWh Ovo reports 21KWh I'm sure someone knows why this is so, but it seems to be par for the course — you can find other threads where IO shows almost identical discrepancies. While it would be nice to get the whole lot at a cheap rate, 21KWh at 10p per...

Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

At a simple functional level I don't think the Charge Anytime app needs to be on more than one phone to work. Assuming that you are using your car as the controller and not the wall charger, then the app has access through your Tesla login and doesn't need to be anywhere near your car or the...

Model 3 alarm setting for travelling by ferry

This appears to be a hardware issue. 3/Ys from early 2022 on do not have a Tilt Intrusion alarm fitted and have no way to turn off the alarm. Earlier 3s appear to have it — it depends on when the car was produced.

There is, unfortunately, no way currently to disable the alarm. The settings mentioned above are no longer available.

Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

I think their requirement is either a wall charger that works with their app or a car that does and Teslas do so the compatible charger becomes irrelevant,

Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

I've just joined. It appears that if you are an existing Ovo customer on their "Simpler Energy" (aka standard variable) tariff then you are simply told to get the app and you are done.

    Insurance renewal in 2023

The main frustration here is the fact that the outcome of any quote is so apparently chaotic (Chaos Theory: the study of apparently random or unpredictable behaviour in systems governed by deterministic laws). It should all make sense, but it doesn’t. How can the same person with the same...

    Insurance renewal in 2023

My renewal quote from Diamond has just gone from £493 last year to £750 this year so I have spent the morning on the comparison sites. I found several quotes similar to last year’s but then discovered something (that most of you probably already know). Comprehensive is no longer comprehensive...

    My speed limits have gone

I have most of the speed limits back after the 44.2 update. However, a passing observation from having driven up and then back down the M3 yesterday. It appeared to me that the speed limit disappeared at points where there had recently been roadworks — almost as if the car was expecting...

    Tparts data module

I got my Model Y at the end of February, so the same factory lot as yours. I recently fitted the T Parts module (from Ali Express). The data cable was present but simply taped back so fitting the T parts module was easy. I now have full data on the centre console — including sonic the hedgehog.

    Bad luck [kerbing alloys]

Thanks for the replies. I checked with the guy who runs my local Tyreland. He reckons that the cut is not through to the carcass so it is unlikely to spontaneously fail. However it is a weak point so does need replacing sooner rather than later.

    Bad luck [kerbing alloys]

Just resurrecting this rather than creating a new post. I have kerbed the wheels on my model Y more times in the last 5 months than I did on my Toyota in 12 years. Yesterday it was reversing into a charging bay. The reason for posting this is that this is the first time that I have actually...

Superchargers — change in charging practice?

Thanks for this. I'm sure you're right and I am aware that there are overheads within the Tesla supercharger system, but in the past the figures for the car and the cost of supercharging have been pretty close. This is the first time I've noticed a difference of 2-3 KwH in the figures. This is...

Superchargers — change in charging practice?

There is a known difference between the number of KwHs a charge point pushes and the number that the car accepts. When charging at most (non-Tesla) chargers you typically pay for the former. When charging at a supercharger the two figures have always been the same and you only paid for what the...

Is this just road debris, or a bit of the car?

Motorcyclists sometimes put a magnet on the end of the bike's oil filter cover (it's supposed to attract any metal debris so they don't go back into the engine). It could have come off at some point and then you conveniently drove past.

What happens when you drive from UK to Europe? Headlight? Self drive overtaking?

I put mine just to the right of the camera console (driver's side). It's not in the way and it gives me peace of mind that I can see it and therefore haven't accidentally left it at home (OCD). It has so far worked flawlessly (including the 30KpH drive throughs).

European road trip. Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?

I bought the Schuko adapter for the UMC from Tesla and then got this extension from Amazon.fr. It has worked fine for me so far. I did try an ordinary garden extension first, but it overheated and the car complained about the voltage dropping.

Driving to France and Switzerland - advice needed

I'm afraid that they've caught up technologically. FPNs now arrive at your UK address a few weeks after your French crime spree and that can only happen if they use ANPR. Major cities enforce their clean air zones with cameras.
  36. A

Driving to France and Switzerland - advice needed

I don't think that any clean air zone just recognises the car — you always have to apply for your exemption. And the "fines don't follow me home" argument works if you never want to go to France again in that car, but they do keep a record and they will stop you if you are a persistent offender.

Driving to France and Switzerland - advice needed

I don't know how vital the Crit'Air vignette is, but I was advised to get one by a French friend who warned me that it is quite easy to unknowingly enter one of these zones and get a quick fixed penalty. The vignettes are very easy to get and look reasonably cool. The RAC provide information...

    Model Y charge stats discrepancy

My initial post was a query not a complaint. Even with the additional electricity and my heavy foot it still comes out at less than 9p per mile (total charge costs including superchargers). I haven't had that price since a Toyota Starlet in 2003. I just like to keep track of all costs and wanted...

Installing a second home charge point on a looped supply

    Model Y charge stats discrepancy

Thank you for the interesting replies. What I take from this is: The difference between what the Hypervolt and Shell Recharge charge points tell me and what the car says is about 10% and is probably due to the difference between what is pushed and what is accepted (and probably includes heat...

    Model Y charge stats discrepancy

Thanks, but it's not the amount being used each day, it's the charge figures that are off. I have noticed that the number of KwH charged according to the Hypervolt and Shell Recharge apps is about 10% higher than the corresponding figure from the car. If I carry this across the board for those...

    Model Y charge stats discrepancy

I have had my Model Y LR for just under four months now and have driven just over 2,200 miles. During this time I have charged the car from three sources: My office (Shell Recharge), Home (Hypervolt) and Tesla superchargers. According to these three sources I have charged the car with 819KwH...

    Model Y security alarm (again)

The return journey was slightly bumpier (but not rough) and I could hear the Tesla alarm (along with several others) for most of the crossing. Model Y low speed pedestrian safety sound

I have had a Model Y since February and it has run silently in all situations since then. However, yesterday as I parked the car when I got home it started making that “low speed pedestrian safety sound” (aka woooooo) when reversing. Only when reversing not when moving forward. There has been no...

    Model Y security alarm (again)

The recent software in the new Model Y doesn't have that setting (probably the same for all Tesla's running v11). I investigated the possibitlty of using Camp Made, as that turns off the alarm, and setting the climate control to 'Off' using the app. However the manual says: "You can adjust and...

    Model Y security alarm (again)

Having read the manual and looked at other threads in this and other forums, it appears that with changes in recent software updates it is no longer possible to turn off the security alarm on a model Y. The instructions in the owner's manual no longer work and the 'security alarm' check box is...
