Tesla Enhanced AutoPilot, when is AutoPark available in UK?

In my case I ordered the car in April 2022 on the basis that it would have USS and Autopark and Summon. Come late October, no Tesla had appeared, we'd sold my wife's car, she'd transferred to mine, and I was driving round in a Ford B-Max borrowed from my mother-in-law who had recently decided to...

    UK Pricing piss take

Rumour has it that foreign car manuacturers (which, let's face it, is all of them these days) have named this country "Treasure Island".

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Read the tweet, thought about it, and realised that as the owner of a non-USS AMD 2023 model year Model 3, there's bugger all there for me. Where's the AutoPark and Summon that I paid for long ago and still don't have!

How many people are having connectivity issues?

After the problems had pretty well gone away, and after updating to 2024.8.7 on Thursday evening, they came back on Friday. Fortunately, and unusually, I had a passenger in the car who was able to take a couple of pictures - Tesla had bounced my service request because I couldn't provide any...

    Discretionary Commission Agreements Claims

From a legal perspective (England and Wales), a couple of cases have been fast tracked through to the Court of Appeal, which will hopefully result in some definitive guidance on when claims can or cannot be made.

Me too, but only on specific junctions. I also get the right indicator flashed once or twice. I just checked one out on Google Maps. It's where an A road changes into a motorway, and also (presumably for that reason) there's a significant change in the colour of the road surface.

    Thinking of selling

Didn't really have a childhood sweetheart - we were three boys and those were the days when a lot of secondary schools (including mine) were single sex. Then I did science at university which was about 90% male. A combination of that and an early change of career with retraining meant that I...

    Thinking of selling

I'm 66. Due to a lucky break when I was 61, and the death of my surviving parent shortly before that, I was able to pay off the mortgage, and segue from full-time job to part-time job plus consultancy and now just the consultancy. I have three reasonable defined benefit pension schemes, two of...

Round here they have all been replaed by LEDs that have a distinctly cool colour temperature that sort of matches the cool one of Tesla headlights. A few updates ago they introduced the setting to limit the blue light from the screen at night. When I tried it, I realised that it was pointless...

My wife had a Peugeot about 10 years ago with something like this. French law made it illegal to use radar detectors or maps showing speed camera locations. The way round it was to show areas where extra care is needed - can't remember exactly what terminology they used.

t I have that too. I'm using a Google Home router and I sometimes wonder whether it is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. That said, the router reckons the car downloaded 32GB in the last 24 hours, with 6GB on Sunday and 2GB on Friday. There was 3.66GB up today and...

Mine were reasonably ok to start with this morning. Then as the rain eased off they sped up. This evening, after the rain, they did a fair bit of dry wiping.

    [UK] 2024.2

Maybe, but from what I can see on the web map updates are in the 6 to 8 GB range. Anyway, the router says the car pulled down another 11.5GB between 10 and 11 today.

Same. I've been fortunate not to have real problems with the wipers in the past. But I got 2024.2.3, went out in the rain, and they would just not work. I had to use the manual settings. Waiting to see what happens with the next update.

    2023 Holiday Update

This morning, on a lightly trafficed but very wet two-lane motorway, I was driving on EAP. It kept asking for an unecessary lane change into the ourside lane. Eventually, as there was a slow truck up ahead, I ok'd it and it started the change. Then all hell broke loose with warning sounds, the...

    2023 Holiday Update

I go through the Queensway/Birkenhead-Liverpool Mersey Tunnel fairly often and that message has appeared the last few times. The paradox is that there's only one way out going west and two going east, so it's pretty difficult to get lost!

    2023 Holiday Update

I am old. Compared to the cars I drove in the 70s, 80s and even 90s, my Model 3 is, in parking terms, a nightmare. You can't see anything useful through the rear screen. Back then, and when my back and neck were more flexible and there were no head restraints to peer around, looking through a...

Further investigation shows that the banks are franchising their brands to BSIL Limited who trade as Budget. That still doesn't explain why the premiums differed between brands or jumped from what the Meerkats had said.

    UK Aug 23 Insurance Recommendations

Update I re-did my Meerkats search and it came back with Halifax at around £585. I clicked through and declined the legal expenses insurance, the RAC cover and the guaranteed hire car. It then took me to a screen which asked for my registration (which the Meerkats already had of course). Then...

    Car features as a service

Back in the 60s and early 70s, price lists for Austin and Morris cars always listed the heater as an optional extra. I don't think you could actually buy a car without one, at least in the UK, unless there was a special order route. I suspect there must have been some kind of dodge, either to...

    UK Aug 23 Insurance Recommendations

I said I wanted an electric car. They gave me an Audi E-tron 55 S line on a 21 plate with 12k on it - which was somewhat sticky. Hated it, by the way. Car was due to be collected between 1 and 4 on Thursday. Audi arrived about 2.30 on Thursday. Lunchtime Friday I get a call to say car will be...

    UK Aug 23 Insurance Recommendations

Paid £340.77 last year (RAC broker, Liverpool Victoria insurer). Did have rear end minor shunt which was paid in full by the other guy's insurer - total cost about £3,600 which was £2,400 repairs and £1,200 rip-off car hire with Enterprise (had the car for just over 24 hours!). Renewal quote...

After a round trip of about 15 miles this morning on A roads, there was not a lot of visible difference. There are no blue dots to indicated new features, at least as far as I can see. The screen visualisations seem to have become more detailed again - in one two-lane roundabout queue it was...

A couple of slightly delayed impressions from 32.7 on a non-USS EAP Model 3 - I was working from home when I got the update and so didn't do much driving that week. To Wales from Brussels in LHD Tesla

Going South to North in West Wales is difficult, to put it mildly. If it's November you're not going to have a lot of daylight for sightseeing. I would suggest that you would be better off going north from Stonehenge round Swindon to Gloucester and picking up the M5 there. Then it's M5 > M6. If...

How can I tell if this used Tesla has USS or Vision?

Is the car on Autotrader? The only way to tell is to examine the bumpers. A USS car will have little round sensors in them; a Vision car won't. Normally photos on Autotrader will be good enough to see them if they're there.

LV insurance hike - quick sense check

I've got that. It's not LV, it's Liverpool Victoria. Liverpool Vicoria hived off its motor business as LV=, which was then bought by (iirc) Zurich. Liverpool Victoria has started insuring cars again. I got a good price when I bought last year. Unfortunately, last Saturday an idiot in a Golf...

M3 Refresh - Are Indicator buttons really poor design?

Time and the market will tell. Eventually, either other manufacturers will follow Tesla's lead or stalks will reappear on Tesla's cars. Look at what happened with steering yokes. Stalks have been so ubiquitous since forever that I am surprised Tesla have dropped them, but then I haven't driven...

    [UK] ‘Highland’ order discussion

The three years sounds fishy to me. When the Model 3 came out it was Tesla's first entry into that sector of the market and they only had the one factory. It made sense to delay RHD because they could sell every LHD they made. Now they have four factories and all RHD Model 3s come from...
