    Homelink retrofit install failure

That's great news!! So is Service Mode Plus/+ only activated via the hardware Toolbox at a Service Center? Is it a permanent switch to enable it? I take it that the best we can do at home is regular Service Mode?

Acceleration Boost vs Third Party Hacks

I wish Chill would tone down the first 1/4-1/2 throttle but still allow full power at wide open. Looking more at the deltas the 0.4 seconds difference in 0-60 mph and 1/4 Mile ET between the LRAB and M3P is probably 50% due to the 60' times. For some reason the M3P (60' in 1.7-1.8 seconds) can...

Difference in acceleration between Model 3 LR w/boost and Model 3P?

0.4 seconds isn't what I'd say is significantly faster for 0-60 and 1/4 mile ET. The trap speeds are also very similar. I was referencing the power output of the 3D3 front and 3D1 (M3P) and 3D5 (M3LR) motors. LRAB makes the front 3D3 motor produce the same power as on the M3P. But the M3P 3D1...

DiY HomeLink Install using in car Service Mode - No need for Tesla Service or ToolBox

I have 2024.2.7 on a 2022 Model 3 LR, and the DIY Homelink still works. Activated my garage door just fine and I see the icon in the top part of the screen. I installed it in October 2023.

    Homelink retrofit install failure

Back in the fall time frame I wanted to buy the Homelink direct from Tesla and install it myself, however the only option on the app was to have it shipped to a Service Center and for me to go there with an appointment for the install.

Difference in acceleration between Model 3 LR w/boost and Model 3P?

From what I have read, the 3D3 front motors are the same but stock Long Range needs the Accel Boost to increase its power output capability to match the Performance. The rear 3D5 and 3D1 is where the main difference is, but when I added up the power output it was like 490 hp for the Model 3 Long...

    Supercharger - Detroit, MI

Someone at work who was thinking of getting an EV was arguing that there's no way to charge in the desert between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, so I pulled out my Tesla app and showed the SC's in real-time between LA and Vegas as well as around Barstow. I noticed that many of these SC's had up to...

Acceleration Boost vs Third Party Hacks

The best decision I made was to go with the stock 18" on my Model 3 LR. 235/45R18 offer a very smooth ride. My 2017 Fusion Sport (which weighs the same as the Model 3 LR) had 235/40R19 which is the OE 19" Tesla size, and those rode like rocks and I lost 2 tires and 1 wheel due to potholes. I...

Acceleration Boost vs Third Party Hacks

I’d get the Performance if it came with factory 18” wheels. I will not play the wheel swap game. That’s something I’d consider if I were 20 years younger.

Aside from Pedal Control (Normal to Sport) - how else to tell if the car has Accel Boost?

I don't need much boost at all on EcoBoost. The secret to tuning it (and I wrote a guide BTW) is not to increase the boost but rather to increase the torque limiters to levels that the drivetrain can handle, massage the max spark advance with the right fueling, etc... The factory speed density...

Aside from Pedal Control (Normal to Sport) - how else to tell if the car has Accel Boost?

I was talking about 60' times in your original question. No one is questioning the performance of the Model 3 LR/AB/Perf in general. The 60' times I mention are taken from the timeslips at dragstrips. I'll say it again, that split second delay in the Model 3 LR and LRAB is rather annoying when...

Aside from Pedal Control (Normal to Sport) - how else to tell if the car has Accel Boost?

I was referring to only 60' times. The Model 3 LR is about 2 seconds, and Model 3 LRAB is something like 1.9 seconds and Model 3 Performance is 1.7-1.8 seconds My tune-only SHO would do 1.8 seconds all day long on worn out street tires, same with my tune-only Fusion Sport. The SHO's with drag...

    Turn Signal intermittently doesn't work

It's frustrating right? The last few times I had it happen to me, I started tapping the sh*t out of the turn signal lever like 5-7 times and it never turned the signal on. Luckily with the latest software update, I no longer need to hold it / or go to the 2nd position. Just 1 half-tap usually...

6 days - that's how long the fob battery lasts

My Ford intelligent access key fobs transmit at 902 MHz and only work in proximity to the car. But I am able to open any of the 4 doors or trunk of my 2017 Fusion Sport by walking up with the fob in my pocket and pushing the trunk button or grabbing the door handle to open. Battery is DL2450 and...

6 days - that's how long the fob battery lasts

That's a fair point - but my Model 3 doesn't detect the fob when it is in its faraday pouch. The Bluetooth signal of the fob may be transmitting continuously but wouldn't power consumption be lower if it doesn't connect? Otherwise I am assuming this is an inherent issue with the use of...

    M3 Frunk Clip Reinforcement Fix

Thanks for doing this. I bought some made via Xometry as well as the other one from Thingiverse - the cone style ones that slip over the clips. Aside from Pedal Control (Normal to Sport) - how else to tell if the car has Accel Boost?

Exactly! I'd expect this from only about a 50 hp/ft-lb increase to the front motor up to ~40 mph. I like it quite a bit but its not on the scale that I've seen described by others on the Internet.

Aside from Pedal Control (Normal to Sport) - how else to tell if the car has Accel Boost?

I can see the higher power consumption with the accel Boost but honestly it's just a subtle difference to me. Maybe it's because I'm used to fast acceleration. I have gas cars that do the 60' faster than the Model 3 Performance.

Aside from Pedal Control (Normal to Sport) - how else to tell if the car has Accel Boost?

I decided to buy the Accel Boost upgrade again, and this time around it does show up under the Software Tab. My guess is that the first time around, had I waited until the refund period was over it may show up. Probably a hard code that shows Accel Boost as a package once you can't refund it...

DiY HomeLink Install using in car Service Mode - No need for Tesla Service or ToolBox

Just wanted to chime in - Location detection works great. I noticed that I need to have a key with me in order to use Homelink. DiY HomeLink Install using in car Service Mode - No need for Tesla Service or ToolBox

I bought a kit off eBay. Looks like a genuine Tesla Homelink unit, even had a July 2023 manufacture date. I would have paid the extra for the $350 Tesla kit direct, except they no longer ship to you in a sealed box - it goes to the Tesla SC. Took under 1 hour to do the full install. Most...

Reading through this thread, it seems for my 2022 Model 3 that I don't need to remove the bumper cover if I use one of the 2 holes by the frunk release latch? Would the Tesla E-Torx screw from the Homelink kit work in that hole? Has anyone encountered water/vibration damage to the module in this...

    HomeLink Installation

I looked at the factory service manual for the Homelink install on the 2022 Model 3, and looks like the front fascia does have to come off or at least pried like the tech is doing in the above photos? Model Y seems to be accessible via the frunk opening (with the tub removed).

How do I lift/jack my LFP Model 3?

Wasn’t my question though. Since the weight distro is biased to the rear I’ve heard more than once that even Tesla techs will just use the rear to rotate the tires on each side. Just wanted to know what he saw with his Tesla.

Referral points are definitely the way to go. I don't have anyone to refer to and everyone I know is really against EVs. The gearheads are all about manuals/loud ICE's which is fine but they're not even open to the idea of EVs. My biggest complaint with the Model 3 is the abysmal 60' times...

I always check the CR2032 voltage after I pull it. Their voltage level should still be good, so I am not sure what's going on. Turn Signal intermittently doesn't work

In the tests I've done, if I drift over the line (which is normally how I change lanes) without using the turn signal, the lane departure kicks in. It's quite sensitive. So the computer is obviously picking up my turn signal input. It just doesn't want to turn on the indicator lights for...

Nah that doesn't seem to work either. I can press the turn signal stalk 12 times and it just won't register a turn signal output.
