Normal for front camera defroster to be on during dry summer hot day?

It’s 92F today and I don’t have the defroster on obviously and i don’t have the AC running either. I parked my 22 Model 3 LR in my garage after driving it and went to clean the windshield with Windex and I noticed the defroster grids in front of the front camera are VERY warm to the touch. The rest of the glass was ambient temp. The sun already set so it wasn’t from solar loading. The only part of the glass that was hot was the defroster grid by the front cameras.

Is it normal for the defroster grid by the camera to be hot all the time? Seems like a good waste of energy.

Before someone claims this is unscientific, I don't have my FLIR with me but I can feel when something is hotter than normal and its not a coincidence it is in the exact spot as the grid and only this portion of the windshield.
