    Breakthrough in Nuclear Fusion

All the energy that we use ends up being heat released to our surroundings. Cheap power = more heat = Mars 2.0. Fusion is not the solution. Downsizing is the solution.

    Breakthrough in Nuclear Fusion

I just noticed that my post makes no sense:) I meant to write that cheap limitless energy is NOT a good thing.

    Breakthrough in Nuclear Fusion

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only person in world who think that cheap limitless energy is a good thing. We are going to cook our planet alive...

Any reason not to hook up a battery tender to the 12 volt battery ?

It disconnects the 12V battery from the car, it was meant to be used for long term storage of the car, but ended up being used almost everyday since it prolongs the longevity of the battery, and lowers vampire drain to.. 0:)

Any reason not to hook up a battery tender to the 12 volt battery ?

What I did: replaced the weak 12V bat with a 85Ah deep cycle battery, put one of those in the trunk: Works like a charm

Will any Teslas be included in the Takata airbag recall?

I can confirm that tesla does indeed use takana airbags in the Model S. At least the ones that I saw. Unscrew your driver airbag and see for yourself. But if those airbags are affected by the recall, is a different story. They might be too new, from what I see almost all recalled cars are...

Door handle pinched my hand while retracting

Ok, for the third time, the finger was pinched WHILE THE HANDLE WAS STILL COMING OUT. It got caught in between that "tunnel" and the REAR END of the handle, is that so hard to imagine...

Door handle pinched my hand while retracting

Yes, that is what has happened. One solution that comes into mind would be a non stick surface under the handle, teflon for instance
  15. F

Door handle pinched my hand while retracting

He put his hand inside the halfway out handle in a way that the tip of his middle finger got squeezed in between the emerging handle and the edge of the door under the handle. I saw it with my own eyes, it actually ripped the tip off! There was blood, and a lot of it

Door handle pinched my hand while retracting

My cousin had a piece of his finger ripped of when he tried to grab the handle BEFORE it fully emerged from the door... there is too much power pushing the handle out

Salvage Model S motor, water and coolant inside

That liquid was dirty "road water" mixed with coolant. And as for engine/motor debate, I will continue calling it an engine because the electric motor is just a part of it. And the motor did not fail.
  18. F

    Engine vs. Motor

I understand that you are confused with the fact that under the hood of your car there is only a storage compartment. It is called a frunk for front trunk and the ENGINE of your car is located between the rear wheels:)

Salvage Model S motor, water and coolant inside

I just took the outside cover off, there should be no liquid inside - - - Updated - - - Its from a salvage title car, but the car was fine, it was fixed and drove 22k miles since, but there was never any damage to the rear or undercarriage

Salvage Model S motor, water and coolant inside

I just replaced a failed engine in a Model S, this is what I found inside the inverter housing: at first I was sure this was only water that got in there thru the power cables screws cover (the o-rings were misplaced from the factory) but then I found out that its mixed with coolant. I will...

Model S internal charger - No Longer Available

Well of course you can't bridge three phases when you actually have three phases. The charger accepts input from 3 AC lines and in the US version the junction box bridges those inputs into one inlet from the charge port. The charger doesn't care if the 3 phases have a shift or not.
  22. F

Model S internal charger - No Longer Available

Well from what I see the charger is actually 3 phase but for the US market the junction box combines all 3 phases to 1

    Battery self swap :)

That is what I was planning to do next. There is a number of applications for this battery. Large ups, EV project, of-grid living. But any of these applications requires dealing with active cooling/heating the pack and going around the onboard electronics(if there are any). So my first choice...

    Battery self swap :)

I was hoping that someone here is from Tesla or knows someone who could help. The battery is from a totaled car. I contacted Tesla but they were unwilling to disclose any information. Weirdly enough they were unwilling to remove the battery for me, or even tell me how to remove the battery...

    Battery self swap :)

Because the battery is in New York and I live in EU :) Because at that time we did not take the battery out of the car yet. Anyway I understand that no one knows what is going to happen when I swap the battery? I would swap it for a 85 as well. I am sure some of you know the answer:) If no...

    Battery self swap :)

I am trying to recycle a perfect battery, that otherwise would be landfilled. I simply believe that letting a battery that costed at least 30k to manufacture being scrapped is a disrespect to the planet we live on. I would be happiest if Tesla took the battery and put it in a new car or offered...

    Battery self swap :)

Well I do know that you can safely remove and reinstall the same battery in one car, but what happens if I put it in another car? By the way the one on ebay was actually mine:)
  34. F

    Battery self swap :)

Does anyone know what happens if one were to try and swap a battery on his own? Will the car simply accept the new battery or does the car need to be connected to a Tesla service computer? I am in a position of being able to do that, but I don't want to mess up the car.
