Is that a Gateway 1 on the install? Does not look like a Gateway 2. Looking at the high-level diagram it could be a Gateway V3?

    2015 P90D vs. 2019/2020 LR/+ MS

@Esko Glad you were able to do some soul-searching during that post. When I got to the end I would have suggested the same for you. If you value range and reliability over performance, then LR Raven is your ticket. For me, I have decided to hold on to the ol P90D. I ended up getting a U...

Standalone PW2 startup and trickle charge, possible?

So I recently picked up a used Powerwall 2 and Gateway 2 for a great price. My overall goal is to install it onto my existing 12kw solar array setup grid-tied system. But first, the PW2 I picked up has not been plugged in for some time, unknown how long. I am fully prepared for it to be bricked...

    Upgrading my battery 2015 P90D with a 2020 LR+ 100kwh battery a good idea?

To follow up on my own thread after some research I am going to keep my 90kwh battery a while longer and monitor the CAC imbalance numbers. 2.5Ah imbalance is very good health as stated from Recell out if TX (these guys are awesome). Moreover, voltage imbalance (measured with mv) is not as good...

    Upgrading my battery 2015 P90D with a 2020 LR+ 100kwh battery a good idea?

@bluescreen If you are in San Diego talk to QC Charge QC Charge - Home as they local to you. They are experts on the LDU as well that your P85DL has also. 057 has been covered a few times, even in this Battery sub-category a few threads down Vendor - Tesla Model S Battery Extended Service Plans...

    Upgrading my battery 2015 P90D with a 2020 LR+ 100kwh battery a good idea?

@sorka that's a good point; I do have smart air. But are you referring to the new 21+ Plaid 100kwh packs being lighter weight than the raven packs? Just looking at the configuration of them, they don't seem compatible at all. However for the Model S 2020/05 (compatible) BTX9 option code does...

    Upgrading my battery 2015 P90D with a 2020 LR+ 100kwh battery a good idea?

Yeah I have seen Gruber's video, and some other discourse on 100kwh upgrades. I have not seen raw-weight battery comparisons, but can't imagine it's more than a person or two in your car. Tesla did the 90 > 100 battery upgrades in 2016/2017 - so there was a path. But I have kicked around the...

    Upgrading my battery 2015 P90D with a 2020 LR+ 100kwh battery a good idea?

So I am thinking an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, but is that right thought process for battery swaps? Have a 2015 P90D with 106K miles, and get a solid 225 miles range on my gen1 90kwh battery. SMT says 8-10mv imbalance at 86% SOC, and a 2.5Ah CAC imbalance. But a 68.5kwh...

    2015 P90D vs. 2019/2020 LR/+ MS

This is a great answer and right what I was looking for, and I believe this is how I will feel about that transition as well. There are some things I will miss with the P90D, but overall it seems like the 2019+ is indeed an improvement even if a little slower. AP1 I think may be the biggest...

    2015 P90D vs. 2019/2020 LR/+ MS

I have not read a lot of comparisons of the early/mid-generation Model S compared to the newer models. I would love to hear from anyone who has done this leap (P90D/P85D to LR) and if they like or regret their decision. I'll preface this by saying I really do love my 2015 P90D, but as I am...

    DIY Tesla Drive Unit Repair

So looking at these posts from QC Charge and the U-revision/manifold delete from Tesla, they seem to be narrowing in on the solution to the “when not if” LDU problem. I am still on my original LDU on my 12/2015 build P90D, but when I pulled my speed sensor there was moisture present (not rusty...

2015 85D 237k miles, warranty about to expire. Advice on service appointment

I am also in a similar situation on my P90D - my warranty is out Dec 31st this year. Earlier this year (Jan) I was at 250 miles @100%, now I am at 220 miles @100%. I have the gen 1 90kwh battery and Tessie has me @69.7kWh max capacity dropping way off the fleet average (but I know this is a...

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

@ken830 sounds like you have some experience on this. What I understood is the windows for the 2013-2015 pre-refresh Model S did allow remote roll up before and holding the top (roof) of the remote for 5 seconds would roll all the windows up, and the app supported that for a brief window as...

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Makes sense on the actuator. So you have not collected any data on this through Tessie? Is the Tesla API for close window universal across all models in Tessie? Since the Model S has not really changed too much on the actual door/window size I am curious about which Model S allows this, and if...

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Hey James, Do you know which Teslas are still affected by the remote window operations? I have 2015 Model S that does vent windows. In the Tesla app is pops-up that I can't roll them back up. But in the Tessie app it give me the option to roll them up, but ends up not doing anything. No error...

    2015 Model S 85D - New Owner

Congrats on the purchase. On my 2015 P90D I just had the SB-21-39-001 service bulletin done at Tesla SC. I had a clunking noise any time I had the wheel turned even slightly while accelerating. I found the SB via this forum and took it in, we took it for a test drive with a tech and he confirmed...

BMS-029 - Tesla Must Do Better

This is a very interesting thread. I am also curious on the "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" front - what is the way to stave off battery replacement as long as possible? In just this thread you see OP having a very unfortunate and frustrating timing on battery failure (3 mo...

Calling any HW3 retrofitted vehicles (rooted)

@SCP85 - any updates? Adding the required cameras seems relatively straightforward. Basically: update 1. upper windshield tri-camera 2. full b-pillar glass with cameras 3. side repeater cameras Most difficult of the physical swap would be the FSD computer swap and related wiring/optical...

Do you have shudder on hard acceleration? AKA death rattle?

There There are other threads on this, but this is the first one that came up for me in my searches. Tesla has this as $350 flat rate now.

Choose between 2015 Model S 85D Higher mileage vs low mileage 2015 Model S 90D.

Good luck with the search OP. You are doing the right due diligence and asking the right questions. I picked up my Model S on the cheap as the front end was crunched in, and I fixed it myself - so the price was too good to pass up. That factored into my risk factor vs the 3 (also the 3 was way...

Choose between 2015 Model S 85D Higher mileage vs low mileage 2015 Model S 90D.

What are the prices? What is high mileage? What maintenance has been done? what condition are they in? I have a late build (Dec 2015) and it has a battery and drive unit warranty (unlimited mileage) until Dec 30th this year and FSUC - it has been awesome

    Clunking noise when I turn

Post a video of the sound - but it may be the front drive shaft/CVs. I just had this taken care of by Tesla on my P90D. I noticed the knocking sound on acceleration while turning.

2023.12.1 Updated Service Menu and tools for legacy cars

Where are other legacy cars on the remote/auto window features? I see some of the 3/Y vehicles are getting some of those features back. My 2015 S allows the windows to vent remotely and that is all. I am missing close windows on lock.

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

Wow, I was going to update my pre-refresh HID headlights to the LED refresh. Already bought the G revisions on ebay and mapped out the wiring to the BCM. But after this thread, I may stick with the HIDs. The pre-refresh LED DRLs work perfectly still and very bright even in sunlight (although you...

Tesla Policy changes and other horrible Experiences

That crash bar rusts very easily. I picked up a brand new one to replace the damaged one my P90D after a front end collision and in a weeks time with a little rain I noticed rust running the side out when the car moved. It is painted with some black primer on the outside, but likely exposed...

    Used 2016 P90D - good deal?

It looks like it was originally a nosecone model just by the HID headlights. All refreshed MS had the LED headlights that had a more blacked-out look. Also the radar is still located on the bottom grill. Refresh models had them behind the bumper. And the bumper looks like a psuedo bumper...

    2016 Tesla Model X Project Car - 71k miles

This is interesting. I just fixed up a 2015 P90D MS with front-end damage and it was fun project, but indeed very time-consuming. So you are looking for 14K for the X without a battery? How much with the 90D battery it come with?

2015 Tesla Model S P90D NEW BATTERY 25k ago! Midnight Silver Metallic with Tan interior

Damn this is a great deal! New battery w/ 270+ mi range, AP1 (rock-solid system), Ultrasonic sensors that still work, and faster charging at home than any other model - and cheaper than a used model 3. If I didn't already buy a P90D I would have bought this in a second. GLWS OP!

Water leak at chrome trim above rear door

Great, I did the same thing! I pulled the chrome trim off by taking all the screws out under the door seals. I noticed the gasket was not sealed near where it was leaking so I added some silicone and put all the screws back in. Need to test it when I roll the windows up and hook the 12v system...

    Model S #000027 for Sale

Very curious to see what this sells for. A founders edition is special. Maybe ideal for a collectible vs someone's daily. But unlike ICE the HV batteries just don't store well, so I wonder if Tesla ever get to that unmodified collectible status. Prices on early edition roadsters definitely crept...

Water leak at chrome trim above rear door

Ever figure this out? I have the same issue I am working on for a 2015 MS. I read through this Rear doors water leak and thinking it has to do with the chrome bright work around the windows allow water to leak in.

Downgrading headlights (how do I read LIN signals)?

I am very interested in the native HID to LED process. Is it just a re-pinning? I see the HID and LED headlights are the same connector with different pin-outs. What other parts are needed? I have read a lot about the canbus/linbus adaptors - but you say you don't need them?

    2014 Model S P85 buying advice

Good to know. I have the rear bumper off now so I will check the speed sensor. What have people said to Tesla to get the LDU replaced with it just leaking coolant into the drive unit? Sounds like the viscosity of the coolant + real life tolerances + inherently bad design. I wonder if a higher...

    2014 Model S P85 buying advice

How about 2015 models still under warranty for the LDU coolant leak? Any issues with Tesla changing these? Has anyone sued Tesla over back-ordered parts and repair delays?

I am working with a guy locally to buy his 2015 P90D because it has been in the shop for >7 months and Tesla has made it obvious they are not making parts for the old Model S's. It's a difficult position as Tesla certified body shops can NOT use "used" Tesla parts or they can lose their...
