    MYLR snow performance

Splendid suggestion! I never knew that these existed! Question: does one put on one set (either front or rear) or put on two sets (both front and rear)?

    MYLR snow performance

Entering my first winter with the MYLR (20” with stick tires) and I’m wondering what to expect when it snows here in NC. We don’t get a hard enough winter to warrant dedicated snow tires so I’m sticking with the factory shoes and hoping that I can get through the occasional snow event with the...

    Supercharger - Luling, TX

At least the amenities are better than flatonia.

    Supercharger - Luling, TX

V2 shenanigans is exactly why Flatonia will never see my MYLR again when I drive through. As for the map thing, Tesla is building a 12-station SC site in my town (Hendersonville, NC) to be finished by the end of November and it isn't showing up on any Tesla map so the map is behind reality.

    Supercharger - Luling, TX

Goodbye Flatonia! Still grayed out and showing "coming Q3" on tesla.com supercharger locations.

    Supercharger - Luling, TX

Game changer! My heart is fluttering - but I’m fairly shallow.

    Supercharger - Luling, TX

It’s the deep charge at low V2 kw that’s the killer and is necessary due to the SC desert in the area. Once Luling V3 opens Flatonia will be a ghost town.
  8. W

    Supercharger - Luling, TX

If you don’t understand, you must not have had to stop there for a deep charge. The last two times I stopped there, the chargers were full and the V2 began at 50 and went down from there.

That’s two for the Hall of Infamous.

Can’t wait for Luling to become live. If there’s a stop worse than Flatonia I haven’t found it yet.

    Rivian vs Model Y

I have owned a R1T for 13 months and a MYLR for 6 months. It’s hard to compare the two since the mission of both is so different. The only valid comparison between the two is software competence and support. What I can say is that while Tesla is a much more mature software OS, Rivian is working...

Should I cool the plug at TX 105*?

Driving to San Antonio this week where the temperatures are projected to be around 105*. Should I place a cooling cloth on the SC plug to help charger efficiency?

    Best convex mirrors?

Or, you can purchase a 2” convex stick on mirror and use that. Works really well for me with a minimum of fuss.

Need recommendations on new tires for 20” induction Model Y

Though the years, I've either called or emailed Tirerack for my past vehicles and they have always been very responsive so you may want to give them a contact and ask them the pertinent questions and perhaps get a suggestion or two.
  15. W

What have you done to your Y lately?

I got the 2” convex and it works just fine.

FSD add-on for one month possible?

Gosh! I thought it was a fairly straightforward thing to do: pay your money and "rent" FSD for a month at a time. This now sounds like a Rube Goldberg rigamahroll adventure.
  17. W

FSD add-on for one month possible?

I declined to purchase autopilot upgrades (the FSD package) with my 2023 MYLR and AFAIK it only has the basic autopilot software installed. I'm taking a long-distance 2400-mile trip in July and I see that one can purchase FSD one month at a time and I thought that a one-month subscription would...

    Got any road trip advice?

Agreed. For the vast majority of fast charging (both CCS and SC), the vehicle dictates charge rate and not the charger itself. Granted, from time to time the CCS fast charger will slow down because the cord is too hot or something but it is the vehicle that specifies the charge rate.
  19. W

    Got any road trip advice?

Better to have the CCS adapter and not need it than to need it and not have it. I use my CCS occasionally and have found that the oft maligned EA fast chargers somewhat less expensive than Superchargers and somewhat faster - as my MY allows.

    Power frunk issue

I don’t know … I installed the EVOffer product and my wife uses it literally multiple times every day. (She owns a tea room/cafe and she makes at least one trip a day to the local markets for fresh produce.) She got used to the automatic frunk lid opener and couldn’t believe that Tesla was...

Access to USB-C ports in console

I saw this product but didn’t get it because I can see dirt and spilled liquid getting into the ports. I purchased the port multiplayer (from someone) but the extra ports are inside the console where I can‘t get to them. I’m thinking about drilling a neat hole from the driver side panel to the...

    Tesery Spoiler & Products?

I'm on the fence about the looks of a spoiler. What I'd like to know is how does the spoiler affect the aerodynamics. Perhaps I've missed them but I've not seen any actual aerodynamic studies of them.

Access to USB-C ports in console

I really like the Teslogic connection of the MY to my iPhone via Bluetooth and I'm installing a cell-phone mount with wireless charging and I'm wondering where to plug it in. I've seen YouTube videos where the power cord was looped over the top of the console and then inside and others where the...

    EV-Offer power frunk

I installed the EVOffer power funk kit yesterday and I'm very pleased with the end result. The kit with YouTube videos was straightforward and it works perfectly (notwithstanding the installer). I'm here to tell everyone that getting to the left bottom strut is a feat of perseverance and borders...

Drove it like an ICE the other day

Left late from Florida for home (425 miles) and I didn’t want to arrive home in the wee hours so I drove my Y hard - like an ICE - at 80-85 mph with total disregard for economy and efficiency. I averaged 350 wh/mi during the mad dash home.

    23 MYAWD (MYSR) order

I did exactly the same thing. Didn't like paying the extra money but after my experience with my R1T purchase, grab the tax credit while you can because the rules can change literally in an instant.

    my new Model Y !!!!

Picked up my MYLR (same as my Jan order and instead of the MYAWD that I substituted for that one) yesterday in Knoxville. Either I'm not as picky as others or I'm a very poor judge of quality, but my Y really looks very well put together. No gaps anywhere that I could see, lines were consistent...

Buying a ‘23 MY Standard Range - Please educate me

Yes .... but ... I took delivery of my Rivian R1T on 8/9. On 8/16, the rules changed as of that day. There was no grace period, no consideration for vehicles en route, no "as of date", nothing. Talk about some unhappy and pissed R1T buyers! That's my real-life experience and I'm wanting to have...

Buying a ‘23 MY Standard Range - Please educate me

Normally, delivery timeliness would be an annoyance at best but with the federal rebate window hanging in the air (the promised March announcement may come any day now), the lack of delivery timeliness might incur a $7500 "cost". Not chump change.

Buying a ‘23 MY Standard Range - Please educate me

On the other hand, my SC in Knoxville has been very responsive to each and every question in a timely manner. Totally pleased up to this point. Pickup for my MYLR (changing from a non-existent, always in "pre-production" YAWD) is today at 4pm. Exciting event with just a little bit of...

Buying a ‘23 MY Standard Range - Please educate me

I cancelled my ordered MYLR on 2/3 for a MYAWD that was "coming soon" with a VIN. It was my impression that pick up would be in 10-14 days after I switched orders on 2/3. Fast forward to yesterday - my 510 peep tracked the VIN and said that that vehicle was *STILL* in "pre-production" and no...

Real World Range on 4680 Battery?

My ODD was 2/3 and I'm still stuck on DELIVERY TBA. Almost everyone else is in the same boat. Perhaps Elon will have a surprise for the Y-AWD vehicles (HW4?) and thus have been holding them in inventory for shipping after the announcement. We'll see in a few hours.

Real World Range on 4680 Battery?

The Spoken Reviews guy has posted the best real world 4680 performance that I've found. Chassis structure aside, it seems that his range is very doable - even on over the road trips.
  38. W

    MYAWD 4680 in the wild?

Has anyone actually taken delivery of the hundreds of MYAWD's released in the past few weeks? ODD 2/3 and delivery still TBD. There's been discussions about the new SR 4680 Y but I can't find where anyone has actually taken delivery and has given a first impression report on it.

    Tesla CCS1 Combo Adapter

Even with the recent EA price increase, CCS1 is cheaper than the SC - especially when you pay the $4 monthly membership fee. More hassle but cheaper.

Buying a ‘23 MY Standard Range - Please educate me

My YSR has a VIN and has been showing delivery range of 2/17 to 3/10 for some time now. I texted my 510 peep and all that is said is that it is in “pre-production”.
  42. W

    Rivian vs Model Y

Not sure .... there's just not many in the wild yet for any kind of report. Just anecdotally here and there. Perhaps mine will arrive in a few days and I'll be able to give everyone a first-hand account.

    Rivian vs Model Y

I have to pee every 200 miles so there’s not really much of a difference. That said, one came up in inventory and I snagged it so there’s that instant gratification thing. Somehow I’ve talked myself into thinking that as Tesla gathers more real world data on the 4680 batteries, they’ll remove...

    Rivian vs Model Y

I probably have a unique place in this discussion because I took delivery of my R1T on 8/9 and can say that it is almost flawless. Lifetime 2.54mi/KWh with almost 12,000 miles on the meter. CCS charging can be a little bit of a hassle since the infrastructure is still catching up but I can go...

Buying a ‘23 MY Standard Range - Please educate me

I cancelled my YLR in favor of the more instant gratification for the YAWD. (Delivery est 2/17-3/10.) Given that the battery chemistries are the same which would generate similar charging characteristics, I have a feeling (based on nothing but intuition) that other external characteristics will...

Just panic ordered a MYAWD. Change it?

I pulled the trigger and purchased a 4680 MY that popped up in inventory. I have a sneaking suspicion that the range (and charging rate) is currently software limited until Tesla can accumulate enough real-world data to unlock more of the battery's potential. Besides, I can live with the...

    Inventory of 4680 Model Y's

Even though the MYLR has an EPA range of 330 miles, almost nobody gets close to that range in the wild. I thinking, what if the 4190 Y's can get the honest 269 miles in real life? Wouldn't that be an equivalent range with the current 2170 Y's?
  49. W

    Inventory of 4680 Model Y's

I've been watching the 4180 inventory jumping up in my region (Atlanta/Charlotte/Knoxville) too. I'd like a long-range Y due to the fact that I'm planning on using it for business road trips but I was late to the party and didn't order until 1/24 with a EDD of late March. However, it is tempting...
