PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

Just got my peak electricity credit and it was 3.02 cents per kWh. Not particularly pleased with that number considering I had 1,085 banked peak kWhs. I guess I can try and charge more during the day. But I really need to figure out if I should just switch back to the regular plan and get my 10...

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

I was trying to read through their proposal but it’s thousands of pages long. Where did you see the part about RLM changing?

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

When would this go into effect? I’m getting to the end of my first year on RLM so if they’re going to change it I’d like to switch at my anniversary month.

    Autopilot reminder every 15 seconds??

Yeah, I do that sometimes. I’d just really like to avoid getting the nag in the first place. I keep one hand on the wheel at all times, I’m looking at the road and I still get the nag every few minutes. Am I doing something wrong?
  6. N

    Autopilot reminder every 15 seconds??

Are you saying that simply having one hand holding the bottom of the wheel should be enough to avoid the nag? I usually have my hand on the bottom of the wheel the entire time I’m on AP and I still get nagged every time.

    Autopilot reminder every 15 seconds??

I can't seem to make the AP wheel nags go away. It's really annoying. I have to awkwardly pull or turn the wheel to get the nag to go away. Natural wheel holding doesn't work. I can hold the wheel the same way I do when I drive and I still get nagged every time. I've tried different spots on the...

Annoying Plasticky noise from rear seat area

So I have a very annoying noise in my M3 RWD where it sounds like I have a stack of plastic water bottles banging against each other. I’ve had the noise for about 2 months now and it’s not getting better. If anything it’s getting worse. The interesting thing is that I had a loaner model Y a...

Vendor Kavanic Uberturbine style wheel cover for 18” Model 3 Aero Wheels (Available in US Canada & EU)

@Ks@Kavanic Any chance you can help me get a single replacement 18” model 3 uberturbine hubcap? One randomly fell off somewhere and it’s gone. Separately, anyone know how to take these things off? If I can’t get a replacement one I need to put the old ones back on.

Third tire rotation at ~19,000 miles

Just rotated my Model 3 RWD tires for the first time at 8,000 miles. A few days earlier I had Tesla mobile here to fix an unrelated thing and he measured my front tires at 8/32 and my rears at 6/32. Why do you think the original tread was 8/32 and not 10/32 as indicated on their website? Just...

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

Agree that the 10.5 cent credit is a really good credit. There's definitely no reason to be on RLM if you don't have solar. Right now I'm locked into RLM until at least early February. Once I get my February bill which is the last month of my net metering year I'll do an analysis on which plan...

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

PSE&G is already providing the credit for Tesla drivers but it comes with an added cost/nuisance. PSE&G is working with Rolling Energy Resources to determine the amount of off-peak charging. Basically you connect your Tesla account with Rolling Energy and they ping your car every 30 or so...

Off-peak charging in NJ and Rolling Energy Resources

I was able to see it by looking at Teslafi and seeing my car “wake” every 15-20 minutes. Normally it stays asleep.

Off-peak charging in NJ and Rolling Energy Resources

I think you need to be connected to Rolling Energy if you don't have a Juicebox or Chargepoint EVSE. But it should now be a 10.5 cent credit. However, I switched to the RLM plan so I likely won't get any credit. I just want to see it play out for a month and then I'll tell Rolling Energy to...

Duke Energy off-peak charging - AVOID

Any thoughts as to if this could have an impact on the low voltage battery?
  16. N

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

So far so good. Seems accurate. I haven't been charged for any peak output and I have a 1,343 kWh peak bank as of my early July bill. PSE&G did just change their EV program to make the off-peak credit 10.5 cents instead of 2 cents so that's a nice bump. But you don't get it if you're on an RLM...

Off-peak charging in NJ and Rolling Energy Resources

I just signed up for this from PSE&G and yes, it's pinging my car every 18 minutes during peak periods. It's absurd. Besides being extremely inefficient and wasteful, I can't imagine it's helpful for my 12 volt battery on the car. I need to change my password so I can turn this nonsense off. I...

Model 3 Max Speed Level 2 Charging past 99%

Got it, makes sense. I'm not terribly concerned about the degradatioin. It's only the 100% charging that worries me slightly.

Model 3 Max Speed Level 2 Charging past 99%

My understanding was that the level 2 (and obviously DC fast charging) AC charging would taper as you got close to 100%. I've been monitoring my Model 3 RWD charging at home and the charging didn't taper at all until it was right before 100%. This is the RWD so max amperage is 32 amps and I had...

Bluish Color on White Model 3 Rear Bumper

Yeah, something is clearly wrong with the paint job. I've put in a service appointment for 2 weeks from now (was first available appointment at closest service center). I'm just hoping they don't try and charge me for what should be covered by the warranty.

Bluish Color on White Model 3 Rear Bumper

As you can see from my picture above, it's not slightly different. It's a major difference at this point. I think I'm going to put in a service request with Tesla. It actually looks worse in real life than with the picture. My only issue is that I happen to have a scratch on my bumper from a...

Bluish Color on White Model 3 Rear Bumper

I’m adding a picture since it appears to be getting worse. Also, it’s not the lighting or natural paint differences. I see a million white teslas. This is more than any I’ve seen. Plus the issue is that the blue is fairly blotchy.
  27. N

Bluish Color on White Model 3 Rear Bumper

I got my Model 3 LFP on 2/27/2023 and didn’t notice any issues. Recently though I’ve noticed that the rear bumper panel looks somewhat blue and is very noticeable against the other part of the car. It’s more noticeable when the car is clean or wet. Is this something Tesla could fix? It’s not...

When will Tesla add the following to the Route Planner: SOC at Arrival - Deleting individual Charge Starions - Display Non Tesla Charge Stations

I think adding a desired arrival state of charge is very useful and isn't as simple as "just charge longer at your last supercharger". If you want to be at 70% when you start your next day at your destination and the route planner currently has you arriving at 10% after driving 150-200 miles...

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

I’ve been using Tessie for about 10 days and I’ve noticed that the energy usage that it reports per drive is consistently more than what the Tesla says. For example on a drive home yesterday the Tesla reported 204 Wh/m whereas Tessie shows 214 Wh/m. I’ve seen this differential fairly...

    3rd Party App Accuracy

It’s just odd how TeslaFi is consistently low and Tessie is consistently high. I guess I’ll just make do with the data now knowing that it’s a little low on the TeslaFi side of things.

    3rd Party App Accuracy

I’ve been using TeslaFi for the last month and I like it. But I figured I’d give Tessie a try as well as a comparison. By comparing I've noticed that the two sites produce very different data for the same drive. I’ve noticed that Tessie has significantly higher watts per mile than TeslaFi. For...

    Title in NJ

I'm still waiting on my title. I got the plates the day before the temps expired but still no title. I picked up my model 3 on 2/27 so it's been 51 days now with no title. I texted Tesla and he said to give it until the end of the month. So basically, it might be awhile before you get the title.

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Yeah, just hoping it at least levels out somewhat soon. I just don't want it to keep going down every time I charge the car. The crazy thing is that my son took the car on a pretty long round trip today and it's currently at 44% and projects to show another sizable drop in range from just one...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

I'm not terribly worried but I've noticed a fairly sharp linear progression in EPA range on my new Model 3 RWD since I started using TeslaFi. I took delivery on 2/27 this year and through one month (on 3/26) I still had the full EPA range on a full charge of 272.47 per TeslaFi as well as my...

Scratch on Model 3 - Can I fix it myself?

I think I’ll give this a try. Do you think the Dr ColorChip Sealact blending solution will work as a clear coat or should I get some clear coat for the car?
  36. N

Scratch on Model 3 - Can I fix it myself?

Apparently Tesla's own kit is basically identical to the Dr. ColorChip one. But my issue isn't color. The match looks good. It's that the paint touch up doesn't fill the scratch. It likely needs to be sanded and smoothed out. I think Dr. Colorchip and the paint repair kit is really more for...

Scratch on Model 3 - Can I fix it myself?

So I used the Dr. ColorChip on the scratch. I even did about 7-8 applications and it now just looks like a white scratch. But it still looks like a scratch. I think it was just too deep for the Dr. ColorChip to really work. On the positive side it’s at least white now vs black so there is some...

Have you used the PSEG program to get your charger installed, in New Jersey?

I’m having some serious issues with PSE&G and the rebate submission. Basically after submitting the request for a new electrical load form, Construction is claiming that there needs to be a service upgrade to install a new transformer. So I thought, fine, PSE&G covers $5,000 of behind the meter...

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

Thanks! I just spoke to a PSE&G guy in the solar department and he was very helpful. He's getting the process started for me to switch. The only outstanding question was whether I need a new meter. I already have a smart meter so I'm thinking it should be doable with that one but the guy I spoke...

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

So I reran my numbers and now it really doesn't matter if I charge peak or off-peak since the peak wholesale credit rate is very close to the off peak rate. That really changes things. Based on this I'm going to give them a call to change over to RLM. Does anyone know if moving to RLM will...

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

I did not realize the peak wholesale credit was going to be that high. That might change some things. I’ll have to rerun my numbers. I’ve also noticed that my charging usage is higher than I expected so far. Also, I spoke with PSE&G and they said that the Tesla wall connector was going to get...

    Accelerator pedal stiffness?

I just got a Model 3 RWD and I do find the pedal pretty stiff. Makes the car seem a little slower unless you really press the pedal pretty hard. But then it gets nice and fast.

Scratch on Model 3 - Can I fix it myself?

Excellent and really good to hear. I'm going to give it a try. I'll watch some videos to get a feel for how to best use this in the case of scratch vs. a chip.

Scratch on Model 3 - Can I fix it myself?

I actually saw the manual language. My lack of clarity is more on what the local car washes actually are. I've just never really cared before. I know there's a hand wash place relatively close but not sure what the other car wash places are actually doing. I'm going to order the Dr. ColorChip...

Scratch on Model 3 - Can I fix it myself?

Thanks for the recommendation. This is what I was looking for. Now to figure out which version to get and how to actually use the thing. Plus I need to figure out how to actually clean a car. I’ve never hand washed any part of a car before in my life. It’s a pretty small area to clean so it...

Scratch on Model 3 - Can I fix it myself?

I had my car parked in Manhattan a few weeks ago and it looks like my rear bumper has a license plate screw scratch. It's about an inch wide and shows black on a white car so it's obviously gone through the paint. It's not terribly deep but you can certainly feel the imprint. Just wondering...

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

I’m not going to switch to time of use even with the EV. The only way I’d save any money is if I charged almost exclusively during peak periods. That’s a very annoying restriction and even then I’m not saving much. I also checked on adding more solar. But the quote I got from the solar company...

PSEG and change to RLM time of use Billing

If I didn’t have solar then RLM would be great. The bulk of our AC use is at night and on weekends. But I do have solar and unfortunately PSE&G has their convoluted way of doing net metering. If they banked actual dollars like nearly all other utilities did it then a time of use plan would be...
