    Cybertruck Australian Tour

I think it will be made available at some point. Given the popularity of “trucks” here in the Ranger / Hilux size and now the (frankly awful) presence of the F-150 and Ram. Although, if we look at the current US prices convert to AUD it’s going to fall into the exotic category.

Any word on it arriving in Melbourne?

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

I’ve landed on this conclusion, I’ve set the battery up so it thinks there is a “super off-peak” for 2 hours per day. It charges on the grid some and tops up on solar the rest of the day. I don’t look at the apps or consumption any more, it’ll just cause frustration as the clothes dryer is...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

Even with a battery, a family of four in which the other 3 people cannot be bothered conserving electricity also makes it difficult to optimise. I’m stuck on my fixed rate plan or I’ll have to implement marshal law at home to get them on board.

Any ideas as to where in Melbourne they’ll show it? Or dates?

    AGL’s “Night Saver Energy Plan”

Can you charge your home batteries during that 12-6 period as well? I know the fine print says no controlled load, but I’m curious if a Powerwall would similar to any other appliance or car charging during that time? I’m going to have a plan B should I have a rate change soon.

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

I guess I am failing to understand why the wholesale rate isn’t dropping further at midnight. That’s not really an Amber specific comment, but it seems to me that it would be much lower than .22 or so, but the large retailers would be charging that price and profiting. If Amber is charging...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

I don’t understand how Amber couldn’t extend a lower 12-6AM price for you, it seems absurd they’re charging more than the profit TOU providers during that time period. Thanks for the update though, I’m been sitting on the fence regarding moving to Amber, I like hearing the good and bad. At...

    Charge HQ

I like ChargeHQ’s car and Powerwell integration. It’s a nice way to check what’s happening with the Powerwall without waking up the car. That alone is worth $7 to me.
  10. S

    Charge On Solar Australia

That sounds as annoying as the car waking up every time the app is opened to check on the Powerwall.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I have to say, the adaptive headlights are exceptional, one of the best enhancements I’ve seen. I would have never guessed when picking up the car 12 months ago that it could continue to get better by such a large margin, this features has exceeded my expectations. I remember all the debate...

Tesla still doesn't know about the Rozelle Interchange

I think the local government will appreciate it everyone would forget about the Rozelle Interchange.

    Is this safe to drive

Agree on the above regarding the suspension. Looks like an insurance claim… And no, that front wheel is not not safe to drive on.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I already forgot what it looked like before vision. I’ll stick it out now, the mirrors and reverse camera is more than enough.

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

I am with CovaU (United Energy). I was on a TOU 22c and 34c off/on peak prices but changed to a flat rate of 26c/kWh. I know having a battery common sense says TOU is better, but I have a static load of 3-400W 24x7 and a family that doesn’t like to conform to the energy-saving mindset...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

When I saw the phone pop-up I thought “please be FSD….” Joking. I liked Vision Park on my Highland test drive, looking forward to testing it out more.

    Charge On Solar Australia

Hmmm.. Mine was doing it before the CoS option appeared on my phone (today). In summary, accessing the PW page has always woken up the car.
  18. S

    Charge On Solar Australia

ChargeHQ is much more flexible in that case as you can specify the battery or car priority. .
  19. S

    Charge On Solar Australia

Just the Tesla app icon, no widgets. I can’t believe I’m hearing that other people’s cars don’t wake up. I’m not certain why mine would be an anomaly here. There is no exception though, if it is asleep and I open the app directly to PW2 page it will wake up.
  20. S

    Charge On Solar Australia

I always leave the app on the Powerwall page and guaranteed the car wakes up every time I open the app (having left it on the PW page). I can hear the relays in the car clicking. I’m very surprised to hear you say your car doesn’t wake up even when just using the app to manage the PW.
  21. S

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

“Further discussion on this should move over to the CoS thread.” Agree, moved it over there. Back to Amber. I’ve been watching a lot of videos, I think given my current 18c/kWh flat rate I’ll hold off on Amber and revisit in the summer when the solar system is generating >1mWh/month. For...

    Charge On Solar Australia

After reading this thread, and realizing I don’t have a CoS option in my app (phone paired to PW2) it seems like a better option to stick with ChargeHQ due to the issues with excessive waking of the which is already bad enough when checking the Tesla app. I hate how the car wakes up every time...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

When you say use Tesla Charge on Solar… what do you mean exactly? My Powerwall settings page has no “EV charging” options and my car (MYP) doesn’t show any options for solar charging. I’m still using ChargeHQ which is at odds with the PW2 charging a bit. My charger is the newer Tesla WC...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

Thanks, I have watched the video which has increased my interest in Amber. What if anything does the Tesla app (PW2 page) do or look like once the PW is onboarded to Amber’s VPP? Is there any remaining control there?

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

As an MYP owner I fully agree. Many of us bought them before the LR option existed. I’m just trying to ignore the price drops the MYP has experienced, I like the car too much to care.

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

Interesting thread, I’ve learned a lot looking through some of the previous posts. I’m in VIC, 16kW solar system with Powerwall2 and a Model Y. Currently on a flat rate plan which equates to 18c/kWh. I’m at a crossroads now, looking at all these plans and now Amber. Right now, with winter...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Mine’s going in Monday for the Tesla OEM install. I‘m sure I could install it myself but don’t want to risk it with the electrical bits.

Describe your initial impressions upon new delivery of 2023 Model Y

I also have an MYP in Melbourne. No issues with it. I would say it’s stiff, not harsh. I would imagine the 19” standard wheels with the new suspension would be quite plush, opposed to the 21” w/ low profile tires on the P model.

Speed Assist still not working on 2023.12.1.1

My experience has been positive. The one issue I have (Melbourne folks will get this) is the when the Monash goes from 100 to 80 (inbound) after High Street Road but the Tesla still thinks it’s 100. Whether it’s GPS data or reading signs it’s way off, and that stretch of road has always been...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Also, regarding the latest software update. Am I crazy or is there no wiper control in the scroll wheel shortcuts? Was it omitted from the Australian cars? I don’t see any reference to the wipers when setting the default scroll wheel option or when scrolling through the list. Mine default...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I really like the new turn signal feature. One thing that will take getting used to is in roundabouts, I found as soon as I enter it might turn off the turn signal which then indicates to the other cars to enter as well. I need to observe how it handles roundabouts.

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

I have a Kuat, the NV1.0 and NV2.0 (4-bike). They are well engineered, a bit more exy than some other options but the quality is very high.

    Trouble commissioning Wall Connect

I have an open case with Telsa support, my WC3 only connects for 2-3 seconds then drops the connection. Firmware has been been updated remotely, still won’t support a local connection. Connected to home WIFI it’s fine.

    Tesla Haters

The author has written this to fire it off into his echo chamber social media circles knowing they’ll love it, and knowing that the Tesla purists will debate It. A positive article about it won’t get as many clicks…. And as a MYP owner it’s the best car I’ve owned by a mile, and I’ve own some...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Thanks for doing this, I was interested in seeing how the MYP price changed over time. It was still cheapest at launch, the fluctuations are good, but still favoured the early adopters.

    Full Self Drive In Australia

The more I watch FSD videos from the US the more I’m hoping we see it here soon. I guess it’s a gamble of when to buy the FSD package, it’s cheap compared to US now, but will no doubt increase when the functionality is available. I haven‘t heard from any reliable sources if/when it’ll arrive...

CyberVault has been released in China but when will it arrive in Australia?

That is exactly what it is. I think it’s another great trolling from Tesla, so much hype about a simple accessory. I believe it’s useful in China because of the high numbers of cars parked outdoors.
  42. S

What happens to the Enhanced Autopilot functionality if my car is written-off?

Allianz specifically asked if I added these options to my car, so it stands to reason that if it were to be written off it would be considered in the replacement cost (and my annual premium).

Got my MYP the other day, over the moon with it! Really can’t fault it, drivers well, heaps of power, nice to have the smoothness of an EV.

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I started getting quotes when they first said our car would arrive in January, then Feb, and now late March. I didn’t notice much change overall (and frustrating how many insurers won’t consider the MYP) but I did catch a break when I used my financial planners broker code. Going that route it...

Reversing issues in new MYP = accident

This makes sense to me, building in a larger buffer to save people from themselves. If it were mm perfect, most would push right to the verge and end up misjudging it resulting in damage.
  47. S

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I’m surprised that the cancelled MY orders weren’t able to be reallocated to someone else in the queue rather than ending up on the retail website for sale. Surely there must be similar orders, with the exception of those with EAP / FSD already paid for.

User error and/or a safety concern? Tesla stalk placement.

Thanks reminding me about this. We have two cars, one Euro, so I make this “turn on the wipers” mistake all the time because I don’t change cars often. Will definitely be thinking about your scenario.
