Plaid Drag Racing - Not such a great night

Eh, still way better than Dodge that, AFAIK, when they launched the original demon (back in 17 or 18? I forget) they claimed a factory 9 second 1/4 mile time (like 9.65 or something) and then in the real world NO one could even get into the 9s on pure factory setup. IIRC, the reason was that...

Whoa, just noticed also: no more EAP. FSD is now down to $8k!

Exactly. And that dealer probably is going to list it at 79k

Tesla drops prices on X/S $20k. All colors free. Bye bye resale

Looks like Tesla is trying to get demand as much as they can. Recent lay offs and the whole PR debacle with Musks pay package probably isn't hinting at great sales in upcoming months. But yeah pretty crazy to see another price drop. I would not be super shocked if the LR dips into a MSRP of...

I just noticed another $2k price drop. LR now to 72,990. Plaid now down to 87,990!

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Small details like these are what lot of people don't realize when they ask if there's really that much difference between years of a same model gen car. Sure some of the big stuff are about the same, but many smaller details are improved every single year and they don't make headlines over at...

    Still don’t have FSD trial.

2024.8.9 here, still no FSD trial...😭
  11. ginmqi

    FSD now $99 a month

Huh, I see. Dang ok that does suck I agree. Even with FSD available I sometimes would like to just have the "dumb" TACC only.....hmmmm
  12. ginmqi

    FSD now $99 a month

That and currently the FSD does not stay with the owner for life but can be lost if you trade/sell your car...that alone makes me 0% on buying FSD in its current state
  13. ginmqi

    FSD now $99 a month

Wait what. For real. How does FSD not get TACC?
  14. ginmqi

    FSD now $99 a month

OOh, tempation level increased noticeably. $199/mo was a hard no for me but $99/mo ?.....I'm still waiting for my free month of FSD so once that's over I'll see if I want to subscribe at $99/mo.
  15. ginmqi

    Still don’t have FSD trial.

Same here. 22 MSP here and still no FSD trial....😭

    Eclipse Trip: Supercharger Saturation?

Indeed. I unfortunately will have to travel very early on 8th to drive 2hrs to totality in southern MO. I looked at hotels about 2 weeks ago for the night of 7th to the 8th and hotels in Cape Girardeau were already at $500+ so that was out. Hotels that were in southern STL were also sold out. I...

    2024 Eclipse trip in a Model S

So I'm thinking about taking my 22 MSP (19" wheels) from KC to Cape Girardeau to watch the eclipse on 4/8. Plan is to arrive early morning on 4/8 to the Cape Girardeau SC and charge up to 100%, watch the eclipse, then hopefully be able to make it back without running out of battery and hopefully...

    Tesla supercharging during solar eclipse?

I'm planning to drive to the Cape Giradeau station from KC in my Model S to watch eclipse. My main concern is also massive back up of supercharging station on the way back....I've read stories from 2017 of 2-hr drive turning into 10 hr drive. I have a hotel in STL night before and then will...

Plaid obliterates Sapphire in 3 back to back 1/4 mile runs

Exactly. I watch savagegeese and he did a super indepth deep dive intothe Sapphire and it seems the engineers actually worked hard to make it a real driver's car....however for 250k?! Yeah I'd much rather have a MSP and a 911
  20. ginmqi

Plaid obliterates Sapphire in 3 back to back 1/4 mile runs

Would lowering the tire psi to the plaid have similar performance improvements? Running at less than 40psi like they did with Lucid? I also read in another 1/4 mile thread that you should leave the drag strip mode for some time before launching as it keeps conditioning the battery. How fast...

The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

Early 2021 Plaids are not going to be great resale value....it was pretty clear when they launched...Tesla already known to not be a great "car maker" per se...they do EV and charging well but some of the manufacturing QA (its better now) wasn't great...and that was NOT some secret. Plus a...

Pre-conditioning at home...energy pulls from battery instead of the wall? why?

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like when I precondition my car while its at home and connected to my 240v outlet (its the mobile connector, not hardwired/tesla wall charger) that it seems to draw the energy for the preconditioning from the HV battery instead of straight from the wall? I...

Can you sell a new Tesla to your own LLC before registering or is this "title jumping?"

This is also very common and old trick in the auto industry also. You'll see lot of expensive cars with Montana plates. Lots of people form shell LLCs with Montana addresses so they can avoid sales/registration fees on expensive cars. Will the FBI knock down your door a week after you register...

Plaid obliterates Sapphire in 3 back to back 1/4 mile runs

LOL, indeed. It's a BIG cost to have the 21" looks. I currently have a lease with 11mo left on a 22 MSP with the 21" that the original owner picked out (it was a lease takeover, otherwise I would've personally just picked the 19s knowing all the issues the 21s have) and just replaced 1 rear...

Plaid obliterates Sapphire in 3 back to back 1/4 mile runs

Wow. The 21"s are horrendous for wear and there are people who have to switch them out at like 5k miles....
  26. ginmqi

Plaid obliterates Sapphire in 3 back to back 1/4 mile runs

Wow, real world performance speaks way more than paper spec racing. What wheel/tire setup I wonder is that Plaid running. 19" I heard are supposed to be slightly faster than the 21", though that channel may be running custom wheel

Lucid Gavity 😲 Awesome.. 440 Mi Range @ about $80K

Do people actually believe the 440mi version will actually only cost $80k?! This is typical marketing/media speak...it STARTS at 80k...and it will have a trim that has UP TO 440mi range....there is a 0% chance that the 440mi version cost $80k

Model S order changed from MSM to Stealth Grey

One of the tesla youtubers speculates that SG is simply another coat or two of MSM...hence the darker coloration. And by similar token...ultra red may be just more coatings of the previous red. I tend to believe this theory because paint shop is one of the most expensive parts of car...

Front passenger seat adjuster switch cover loose

Will/Can Plaid Prices go lower? (Considering ordering,, or wait?)

On a per unit/car basis, the S and X has higher margins than the 3 and the Y. This has been true pretty much for all automakers with regards to high end luxury models. On a per "line"/volume basis, the S and the X makes WAY less margin/profit for Elon's bank account than the 3 and the Y. The...

Will/Can Plaid Prices go lower? (Considering ordering,, or wait?)

If you've waited this long before pulling the trigger on a Plaid...might as well wait until near end of this year/December/Q4. The price dropped to its current level way back on Sep 1 and it's going on 6 weeks and no sign of price going back up....lot of Plaids being sold just from reading posts...

Tesla should re-add the Tesla Model S Plaid+

I doubt Tesla will ever bring back talk or even release a Plaid+, it will not be cost effective for Tesla. They are not going to compete with the Sapphire. One, those shopping for 250k cars have MUCH more wealth/income/etc. than those who can attain 100k cars. If you're a single guy living...

Thoughts on another price reduction in the US for the MS P to meet 4th qtr #s

It's been over a month since the big price drop on MSP and I think those who were on the fence have probably already bit and ordered the MSP. The market for this car is quite small anyway and not surprised if inventory are not dropping nearly as much as now. So I predict there may be another...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Do we have any data points on people running 305/30/21 tires..I assume this will still fit but with a slightly beefier sidewall height and might help a bit with the inner edge wear? If you don't want to mess with adding shims. Reading through and saw this post mention some people going 305s...

Considering a Plaid...but do you think it's "worth it"?

Alright, wanted to give an update to this situation. Getting a 22 Model S Plaid in a couple of weeks...but it's not a purchase...but a lease takeover. I'll have about 14months and 15k miles to try it out for basically a year at a really good monthly payment from the guy I'm taking the lease...

Considering Switching to a Demo Model S Plaid with 600 Miles - Any Experiences or Insights?

Yeah Demo cars are hit and miss it seems....you get the discount but you play bit of a russian roulette. I mean it does seem pretty likely that with a demo car you KNOW it is likely been launched quite a few times during its short demo life. Is it worth the $x,xxx discount? That's up to each...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Another question...from my reading of some posts so far...it seems also that this is more of an issue when the ride height is set to low? (which makes sense as it exacerbates the neg camber.) Don't have my Model S Plaid yet (ETA is 10/6 but I wanted to be prepared) but when I drive it back home...

Tesla drops prices on X/S $20k. All colors free. Bye bye resale

Very possible for 69430 for the LR. I see potentially a 84,990 for the Plaid if sales slows and they need to push numbers before end of this year...maybe by december?? If Plaid is 80k then I imagine Telsa will only be able to keep that ordering price available for a few days before they fill...

Tesla drops prices on X/S $20k. All colors free. Bye bye resale

Give it another 30 days when those cars are still collecting dust and then they will be panicking...they may have paid too much for them so now trying desperately to see if someone is dumb enough to bite

    Market value for Plaid

Yeah that's a very good point. In this forum, several members have ordered the Plaid at the newer lower price and the EDD have been 1-2mos...so this means they are likely filling up production capacity for the Model S Plaids and hence the later delivery dates. I think you're right in that...

2018 P100D vs 2019 Performance (raven) which to buy?

The 2018 to 2019 is a fairly significant upgrade, I would 100% go for the 2019/2020 cars. The 40mi extra range is HUGE and is not "nearly identical" there is significant improvement in efficiency as well as drive unit (permanent magent motor in front) in the newer 2019/2020 cars. Also remember...

Considering Switching to a Demo Model S Plaid with 600 Miles - Any Experiences or Insights?

Wait, so Tesla is allowing/scheduling Plaid demo drives? I was under impression that you have a 0% chance of scheduling/walking in a SC and demoing a Plaid??!!
  48. ginmqi

    Market value for Plaid

Dude, exactly. Yeah, not everyone researches a ton before buying any car. But if you don't do your homework before buying a 100k car....then you don't get to complain afterwards. When I saw the Plaid get the MSRP dropped to 90k and all colors included I had to remain calm and know that I...
