    FSD Beta v11.x

Sorry to hear, that really sucks! Curious, were you purposely letting FSD do its thing to see if it would avoid the pothole or not? Asking because I had a similar instance where FSD didn’t give a wide enough turn for a kerb, but I took over at the last second to avoid getting damaged rims...

FSD V12 (end to end AI)

Your friend is far from being alone, I’m in the same boat and so is 18% of Teslafi’ fleet

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

Yep, they were Tesla destination chargers. I last stopped there in November 2019 to charge a bit, haven’t been since.

    FSD Beta v11.x

Is it smart enough to know whether you’re behind the wheel versus a passenger? It certainly has the hardware with all those cameras

Next time, bring a sword with you. If they contradict you again, pull it out and shout: “there can be only one!!”

    FSD Beta v11.x

As long as it’s nagging drivers to pay attention and be ready to take over any time, I agree with you. Now, if we could get L4 on highways when we a truly stop paying attention and sleep/read/etc, that’s the real game changer that gives FSD real value. But I fear this day is far, far into the...

FSD V12 (end to end AI)

“They indicated the nag has been dialed up to ensure drivers ae paying extra attention.”

FSD V12 (end to end AI)

Why would it use the rear camera, which is super wide angle and can’t “see” far at all, versus the side fender camera that can look further back?
  9. MarcG

FSD V12 (end to end AI)

Not sure how much that rear bumper camera is used while driving though. It’s very wide angle and as you mentioned, gets dirty quite easily. It’s definitely used for parking, but while moving forward I think FSD relies on the fender cameras to analyze vehicles passing the ego from the left and...

    FSD Beta v11.x

This is new for me.. light rain, wet roads, driving on a limited access freeway and max AP speed is limited to speed limit (65mph). FSD is now not allowing me to increase max speed at all.
  11. MarcG

    FSD Beta v11.x

This isn’t actually good for Tesla. I think they like at least two versions out in large numbers at the same time, so they can do A/B testing and gather enough data for a while to improve future versions faster than on a single release at a time (which is eventually better for us too).

    FSD Beta v11.x

I’m also getting no nags on straight highways as long as my hands are on or hovering near the wheel AND my eyes are looking straight ahead without wearing sunglasses. Totally new behavior on 2023.44.30.5.1.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Just did a bunch of testing of my own while logging speed, battery power, and power to each motor (amongst other things) with tesLAX. Here are my observations: - Vibration i used to have between about 40 and 50 mph is gone for me - New faint vibration between about 60 and 70 mph I recorded a...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Should that 10 be a 30? I’m on 2023.44.30.5.1 (will test drive this weekend with tesLAX and monitor power to front versus rear motors)

    2023 Holiday Update

Not sure if I missed it, but I didn’t see anyone calling out that HFPA seems more like a marketing stunt by Tesla to attempt to show that Vision can replace LiDAR — but so far it seems clearly inferior, at least from what I’m reading here (I have a Plaid with USS, so no way for me to see for...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Yeah, because cameras never get dirty or occluded. Never mind the slightest rain drops 🤣
  20. MarcG

    FSD Beta v11.x

Interesting, i find the opposite in that i feel FSD takes curves way too slowly. But then again, i usually take curves at 50-100% more speed than the suggested yellow signs. For example, if the sign recommended a 30mph speed, i would normally take it somewhere between 45 and 60mph 😁

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Having successfully managed to escape the early access FSD beta back in the summer, my car has been getting mainstream versions that include non-bleeding edge FSD builds, and it’s now on 2023.38.9 with FSD 11.4.4, so I think that’s the latest for group 2. Teslafi shows 8% of its fleet on this...

    FSD Beta v11.x

But it HAS happened, to me at least 😉 Back in July, after requesting to leave the bleeding edge beta, I went from 2023.7.20 (with FSD 11.4.4) to 2023.20.8 (with FSD 11.3.6, which I personally think has been the best FSD build so far).

    Trailer hitch on 2021 refresh?

Nice sleuthing! Nice to know there could be an official path to towing with the refresh S from Tesla. The one nice thing about an unofficial install however is that Autopilot is not disabled, which comes in super handy on long road trips with trailers.

    FSD Beta v11.x

Anecdotally, my Waymo rides with no human driver (sample size in the dozens) have been MUCH smoother than any FSD drive I’ve ever taken (sample size in the hundreds). Of course, FSD is able to hop on the freeways and take me places Waymo still cannot. And FSD is pretty darn good on freeways...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I’m guessing we’re at least a month away from 2023.44 going wide, given that 2023.38 (which is supposedly 6 weeks older) just started rolling out somewhat broadly a few days ago, though it’s still less than 6% of Teslafi’s fleet

    Trailer hitch on 2021 refresh?

Alright folks, I've successully installed the Tekonsha 119147 unit in my Plaid. I used the guidance provided from this post: But bearing in mind 2 things: 1. The "brown" wire on the passenger side turn/brake signal is more like VERY light brown, more like salmon/pink colored 2. Tekonsha...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Here’s one more, new, and completely different type of data point for ya. But first, a reminder: my ‘21 Plaid was vibration-free for about 15,000 miles, until Tesla replaced the front driver-side strut assembly due to a loud rattling noise when going over bumps. This was about a year ago. Fast...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Actually (and I know this because I grew up driving in Europe and taking tests for licenses in two different countries), most signage in Europe other than city names, road names etc. does NOT include words, so Europeans traveling across borders by road do not to learn multiple languages. Things...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I’m back on 11.4.4 too (after going from 2023.7.20 to 2023.20.9 with FSD 11.3.6), but very happy to get the 2023.26 branch features - things as simple as a customizable scrollable wheel button make me happy 😊
  46. MarcG

    2023.26 branch and FSD?

I’m in the same boat as OP. Used to be on “early access” FSD Beta branches, up to 11.4.4, but got tired of being on 2023.7.20 (way behind public releases) and wanted newer software features, so I created a service request asking to leave early access. They sent me 2023.20.8, which I installed...

    FSD Beta v11.x

The hilarious-not-so-hilarious part about this well-written post is that we aren’t getting paid to do this job for Tesla, quite the opposite: WE PAID THEM to be beta testers and improve their product! I’m not saying FSD should be free once it’s truly FULLY SELF DRIVING (at L4 or whatever level...
