Unplugged Model X for 6 months

Well, car seems fine after going through service. Still shows 360km in range.

Unplugged Model X for 6 months

yep, So in the end my car was towed to the service centre. The 2 red ropes at the frunk could not be found, so they could not open the hood to jump the 12v. No idea why the rope is missing,. The service center will replace the 12V.

Unplugged Model X for 6 months

I am pretty sure the battery is dead or near dead now, since last month I was still getting Tesla app messages about low battery, it has since stopped. And I wouldn't open the Tesla app to wake up the car, in case it uses more charge.

Unplugged Model X for 6 months

I let the insurance/license expire as I was not driving it. Tesla just said when I come back, I can get it towed to a super charger, but the tech support does not have any idea on potential HV battery damage. Lots of mention of HV battery damage from draining it, but no one has real anecdotal...

Unplugged Model X for 6 months

I have parked my MX for about 4 months now unplugged (there is no plug at my parking spot). By now the battery should be drained and I will be back in about 1 or 2 months. Does anyone here have any experience on what needs to be done ? (most likely get it towed) Also what kind of damage would...

Another front suspension control arm failure

Just had this happen 6 days ago. Tesla replaced my MX90D's front left forelink... My car only has 13k km on it and it is 3 years old. It just snapped backing out of a spot, but then it drove as normal (I thought the sound was just the parking breaks at the time). Car drove normal for 5km, parked...

    V10 in Hong Kong

Any idea when we will get V10? I am on the MX 2017. Will we get even most of these features like smart summon and theatre?

My Terrible Ordeal with AXA Insurance Renewal

I think Tesla has as much to blame as AXA. AXA must have been bleeding money to repairs. So repair cost must be high (which we know is the case). I have to consider to get out of the Tesla wreck too because of increased insurance costs and maintenance cost(for example fender bender). Everyone...

My Terrible Ordeal with AXA Insurance Renewal

Wow that sucks, cause Liberty is already the cheapest out of the other companies when I renewed 4 months ago.

My Terrible Ordeal with AXA Insurance Renewal

Selling the car for a cheaper ICE is looking like a better and better choice. Each year you have to do insurance hopping since your original rate doubles. Liberty caught on and asks for your odometer read out before giving a quote, they gave me a good quote (relatively) since I don't drive much...

    Resale Value Guarantee

yep got full rvg after fixing all the things they asked to fix... And yes I extended my insurance and registration then canceled it after. The cheaper option is to get a flatbed to tow your car to the service center in the 37th month. Selling back for RVG is a good idea, considering whats...

    Resale Value Guarantee

What was the final mileage when you returned it? 12k, i actually had my S in storage after getting the X Did you have all your minimum servicing all inline? yes serviced annually Why did you return (going back to an ICE, change in cost of insurance, waiting for model 3?) Driving the X

    Resale Value Guarantee

Completed my RVG today, i got back ~72%, which is much better and less hassle than going through the second hand market. I paid 1500 to fix 3 rims. And also repainted a door since it had a minor scratch. Overall, it was as expected for me. The bad thing was that they couldn't take the car 1...

yes, doesn't help that these cars are so expensive to repair and there is no salvaging (that I know of) in HK.

My Terrible Ordeal with AXA Insurance Renewal

Yep, seems like they are weeding out Uber drivers who drive long distance, which is great. But some how AXA is smacking everyone. I guess MX cost too much to repair. Even Prudential raise their rates some 20-30% but not as excessive as AXA.
  19. O

    Resale Value Guarantee

Has anyone exercised their RVG? It might still be a bit too early that none of it has kicked in for any of us.
  20. O

Financing and insurance in Hong Kong

Doesn't make sense, not getting reimbursed the full taxed amount for a totalled car is understandable. But if repair cost is less than your insured price, they should pay that amount and not a 50% off. I don't think repairs are taxed.

    EV drivers protest

民主黨 (Democratic Party) is no better than our government. Just want to create noise ahead of the election without helping the cause. I fully support a peaceful gathering to raise awareness, but traffic congestion helps no one.

    EV drivers protest

As if we don't have enough negative press in HK. Great, more reason for people to label us as Tesluns.

Will the crony HK Gov reverse idiotic FRT decision?

I don't like ICE cars, no excitement there. There are lot of people here that flipped for a newer S or X because it's become affordable to do so since there is no FRT. The second hand car will be picked up in the second hand market, and it certainly ain't a 1:1 ICE displacement.

Will the crony HK Gov reverse idiotic FRT decision?

All other cars suck! I am a tech guy but not a car guy. And the lure of FRT exemption make it seem like a good deal. It's the same reason that why Chinese people buy Maseratis in Canada, in relative value, it seems cheap. I certainly ain't the only Tesla fan boy here with more than 1 Teslas or...

Will the crony HK Gov reverse idiotic FRT decision?

I am all for your suggestions. I am just against reinstating full FRT exemption at all costs for EVs. I would not have owned a car without FRT exemption, now i have both a MS and a MX. The increase of car ownership with FRT exemption is statistically insignificant, but it is there.
  26. O

Will the crony HK Gov reverse idiotic FRT decision?

We all know that 'reducing car ownership' is an excuse for the government, they want to reduce car ownership but don't want the middle class back lash. So, what do you want them to do? Reinstate FRT exemption, which will certainly increase car ownership even higher but at least we have less...

Will the crony HK Gov reverse idiotic FRT decision?

You are right, Singapore uses a quota system in which you have to bid and it was about $35k USD in the last round for 10 years. My point is that we need a system to limit the cars and reach an equilibrium, setting a hard FRT deters owership but doesn't set a hard car ownership limit. Having FRT...
  29. O

Will the crony HK Gov reverse idiotic FRT decision?

By your logic that FRT waiver doesn't affect vehicle growth, then removing the exemption shouldn't affect Tesla/EV adoption. This isn't the case, so FRT does in fact work. I think they should just raise FRT altogether or tag on a pollution tax. General public (outside of our own echo chamber)...

Will the crony HK Gov reverse idiotic FRT decision?

There are some chargers at emax that are pay to use as well. No one uses them. I was also wondering, if those emax pay to use chargers, they have a clause that says $60 but for 3 hours? or is it per hour? There seem to be a clause that give you like 3 hours or let you charge till the car is...
  31. O

Will the crony HK Gov reverse idiotic FRT decision?

IMHO, government has shown good support for charging, in HK, we rarely pay for electrons. It is property management that is hurdling us with red tape. In fact, the removal of FRT exemption gives us/Tesla a breather as charging is struggling to catch up. The government is easy to blame but don't...
  32. O

Will the crony HK Gov reverse idiotic FRT decision?

I feel like the reputation of Tesla drivers in HK is getting worst because the media like to portray us as rich people with no driving skills or uber drivers. So good luck changing the public opinion, we are not the majority. The majority would care less if FRT exemption was reverted or not. For...

Financing and insurance in Hong Kong

For MS the Liberty was cheaper for me as well. For MX, i believe prudential was cheaper. But for inventory cars, we get a ~$10k rebate for using AXA.

Autopilot and parking now available in HK for AP2

This MX AP2 auto pilot is a bit dangerous, unless its a straight road, it doesn't perform. It can't even keep itself centred on the road. It seems the lines but still like to huge one side or another if it was in a slow bend. My AP1 on MS performed a lot better. I wish I could get my money back.

Financing and insurance in Hong Kong

Sorry i calculated wrong, yes it is only $2500... Even though, still not worth it to top up for me. I still have an idle S85D that i am trying to sell. So I guess i am hedged in a way.

Financing and insurance in Hong Kong

Sounds good, but it costs $3.5k HKD more for a X90D in my case. At this stage, better off buying a second hand X in case of a write off. The website now ask you if you bought auto pilot, and if you did, insurance is $500 cheaper, pretty neat.

    Automatic wipers on model x

Emergency braking and Side Collision never to be approved in Hong Kong

Emergency braking and Side Collision never to be approved in Hong Kong

Current calendar app is not allowed but doesn't mean Tesla can't work around it. Obviously I don't know the details but any layman can come up with a simple solution to resolve this. Simple things like displaying power drained per day or put the current range in the app. As long as it serves any...

Emergency braking and Side Collision never to be approved in Hong Kong

It's not TD's responsibility to give Tesla exemption, it is Tesla's responsibility to work within the current framework and get approved. We can all complain that TD is outdated, but sometimes we can still work around it. I don't think TD was out to get Tesla, From TD point of view, they don't...
  41. O

Emergency braking and Side Collision never to be approved in Hong Kong

TD's response to media enquiries on removal of Tesla calendar function I think Tesla could have done a better job applying for the calendar exemption. Perhaps they did try. I don't know. But it sounds like if they are willing to fudge the functionality of the calendar then we would get it back...
  42. O

Emergency braking and Side Collision never to be approved in Hong Kong

I don't think it's approved. Calendars don't need to be approved from TD wording, they merely told Tesla that it might not be compliant and Tesla made the decision to remove it. Sounds to me like a case of don't poke the bear. Also don't show off any easter eggs. Maybe there are car companies...
  43. O

Emergency braking and Side Collision never to be approved in Hong Kong

Unbelievable that safety features are not accepted by TD. I hope both Tesla and TD get their act together. If no safety features are allowed, will autosteer be approved? If not, we should get our money back.

Wilson Car Park - Waste of EV charging resource in HK

Yes the government is discriminating us. We are so entitled, the government should bend over for us because we are saving the world by driving electric. Rules and laws should bend for EVs at once. We, the minority EV owners, should be given privileges/advantages. (sarcastic)

    Model X Energy Consumption Rate

I am getting bad vampire drain too (no dash cam installed yet). It is losing about 0.75km per hour through the day. I think the X's typical range is currently overly aggressive, hopefully it re calibrates itself later. The S's typical range estimate was decent and also had less vampire drain...

    Model X Energy Consumption Rate

How about typical range vs used range. Say you charge to 100%, and it says 360KM but you drive 30KM at 220kwh/km, the 360KM range is a calculated using an expected usage of ~220kwh/km. So after driving 30km, you should expect to see that you have 330km of range left. I am seeing more like 325km...

    Model X Energy Consumption Rate

Power drain when you are not driving is not part of the trip monitor's averaged out power usage. My problem with the X (looks different than the S) is that left over power does not equal used power from trip monitor. There is some vampire drain that is no longer included in the trip meter. I...
  49. O

    Model X Energy Consumption Rate

My problem so far is not the kw/hr, but it seems like the calculation is a bit off. For example, if I charge the battery up to 100% and then drive ~30km and use 9kwh, i should have 90% left. but it seems like i have less than that say about 88%. These are estimates. But the driving power usage...
