New MYP vs used 2021.5 MS LR

Warranty and piece of mind, I would go with the Y. The Y performance is not the best value compared to a long range. The ride and range are both worse. Unless you need track mode get a Y LR. If you do get the MYP, budget smaller wheels.

Vendor Imfamouns Tire Wear Solution!! (2021+ Model S LR/ Plaid ) w/ EVPE shims

With a perfectly level surface, some rudimentary tools and a decent skill set you can do it yourself. The majority of people need to take there car to a specialist. I used to build race cars in collage and after installing ohlins on my model y, I considered aligning it myself, but decided a...

Vendor Imfamouns Tire Wear Solution!! (2021+ Model S LR/ Plaid ) w/ EVPE shims

You an absolutely install it yourself and drive to an alignment shop. The alignment can be way off and the car will still drive, but will handle weird and eat tires.

Vendor Imfamouns Tire Wear Solution!! (2021+ Model S LR/ Plaid ) w/ EVPE shims

It doesn't work like that. You are shooting in the dark. Alignment matters. A lot! You need special equipment to do it right.

EMF (radiation) emissions from Tesla batteries

Light generates EMF , but is not EMF and it is not how it transmits energy. Same for electricity.
  9. Sweed269

EMF (radiation) emissions from Tesla batteries

No they are not. One is an interaction of magnetic fields that decrease at the square of the distance and the rest are light energy that travel forever in a vacuum. LIGHT CAN BE HARFULL! EMF can't.
  10. Sweed269

EMF (radiation) emissions from Tesla batteries

EMF is harmless. A Lot of people are confusing microwave and other light energy with it. They are not the same. I am personally exposed to more EMF in a day then most people get in a lifetime. This guys EMF exposure is off the charts.

4680 cell design, chassis integration & factory discussion for investors

The 4680 may match, but will never exceed the 2170s thermal or discharge rate with similar chemistry. It was designed to be cheaper to produce/ build packs and more reliable. It simply doesn't have the ability to shed heat from the core fast enough. Straight from a Tesla engineer working on...

4680 cell design, chassis integration & factory discussion for investors

If you take the same number of cells, it doesn't matter if you arrange them for 400v or 800v. They both charge at the same C rate. Maybe in the future we will need more than 250kw but right now almost no cars can sustain this level. The bigger the cell, the harder it is to cool. The 4680 will...

    2023 MYP suspension questions

The comfort suspension is mostly the shocks and they are not that good. For a direct replacement the red Koni special active shocks are your best bet. The 31mm front sway bar has a big contribution on side to side head shake. Going to a 29mm off a model 3 performance makes a noticeable...

    Is this normal AC behavior?

    v12.3.6 2024.14.9
  16. Sweed269

    Is this normal AC behavior?

I have always run in auto and it has been flawless, but after the last update it stopped working right. I did a reset and will check if it comes back to its old self.
  17. Sweed269

    Is this normal AC behavior?

The latest update changed the AC behavior. Mine wasn't working like it normally does. It used to instantly get to temperature and keep it there. Yesterday, I had to lower the temp and crank the fan.
  18. Sweed269

New versions detected: 2024.14.9 and 2024.14.100.1

Anyone noticed the AC barley works now? Before it would freeze me and now I have to set the fan to high and the temp to min.

    Lifted Model Y Owners: Report!

You 100% need some negative camber or you will destroy the outsides edges of your tires and the car won't have any rear end grip in corners. -0.7 to -1.0 is a great street setup.
  20. Sweed269

Vendor Imfamouns Tire Wear Solution!! (2021+ Model S LR/ Plaid ) w/ EVPE shims

This! If you commute on the highways and never push your car in the corners you need far less camber than someone who is attacking backroads on a regular basis. Optimum wear vs alignment settings is very user dependent.

    285/40/19

285 is a very tight fit on the front and is dependent on the tire(not all are the same), rim offset, width and alignment. It fits fine in the back

    Model Y Rear Sway Bar

If anyone wants to trade a stock 23.6mm rear bar for the performance 25.2mm one, let me know. I want the smaller bar to match the smaller front I installed. Located in bay area California.

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

If it's just cosmetic damage to the bumper then it's a simple swap and wouldn't affect the value of the car.

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

Our local service center always pumps the tires to 46psi when you go in for a service. I feel that they do it to maximize range at the cost of comfort. It's part of their MO. 42 is too high IMO. Tires will support the max load at 35psi. Simple physics.
  29. Sweed269

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

Tesla always overinflates. It increases efficiency.
  30. Sweed269

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

The stock tire can carry the max gross weight at 35psi, which is where the tire alarm illuminates. Anything over 35 is safe. Up to the max psi of the tire. I tend to hover around 38-39 cold in the morning.

Would you Purchase a model Y Again?

I love my Y and nothing else can replace it for the price. It does everything I need and exceeds all my expectations. There are things I fixed to make it even better and I wish it had more range, but I've never needed more range in the last 6 months, so it's not really an issue.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

The NVH part of the chassis has definitely been improved. This has more to do with where they placed the sound and vibration absorbing materials. I did a full Dyno matt and MLV install in my car for a stereo install and it made a huge improvement in suspension noise transmission. Tesla...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Did it? Everything looked the same too me. The lower spring arm has a slightly different design, but same mounts. There is a bushing instead of a bearing in the upper rear camber arm mount for the LR cars. All their old parts are still going to work. The new shocks and springs bolt to the...

Very small tweaks. The new shocks and springs fit on the old cars. It's basically 95%+ the same other than the tuning of the shocks and springs.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Nothing has fundamentally changed with the suspension. Aftermarket coilovers fix it and make it exactly what you want it to be. It's all about better tuning.

Anybody got a front lip installed?

JPD engineering lip added. Fiberglass with carbon overlap. Very ridged and well made. Some variance along the top edge. Aero integration looks super smooth and I need to test my highway wh/mile. Build quality is a 7.5. Mounting is a 8, but would be higher if the top was perfect. Price was...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

There are no direct comparisons. They do compare to tires that have been compared to them. For example the PS5. They are very new and you need to amalgamate the data to infer if it has the desired traits you want. IMO it's probably the best all around max summer tire. Mostly in noise, wet...

There are 2 Hankook. An all season that is not as good as the PS4AS in handling, but better at everything else. And a Summer without the AS that matches or beats the PS4 and PS4S summer tires.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Stock Model y suspension tuning is still pretty bad. Geometry and kinematics are very good. I budgeted for coil overs before even buying the car. It's good to hear that the Model 3 finally has a good factory suspension.

MY 2024/2025 Refresh - Project Juniper?

The Y has had a lot of upgrades. They are just all under the skin or small tweaks that you don't "see". A new Y is probably at least a year away and it will ramp slow, just like the 3. It will also be in high demand for at least a year while it ramps, limiting incentives. I have driven the...

MY 2024/2025 Refresh - Project Juniper?
