If your VIN is 53x then in all likelihood it is a December build. The door sticker on my 530x says 12/2023. Advisor had told me factory ready on 12/19. You could go and look at it. If there are cosmetic issues then you should reject it irrespective of build date or VIN year.

I picked up a 57PF53 today. No cosmetic issues at all. If someone had rejected it for whatever reason, who cares? Of course if you believe that a 2023 VIN should not be picked up in 2024 then it is what it is.

So when they texted me on 12/31, they advertised is as New but Previously Repaired. When I called they affirmed that this was not used for test drives, but was likely a showroom car. Today the description changed to Demo with 31 miles.

Just in case anyone is interested in this info, the Mt Kisco, NY location has an MSLR ultra red, black, 19, steering for 5% off. It is designated as a demo car with 31 miles and previously repaired. I asked them what previously repaired means. They said most likely some cosmetic issue which was...

“Ready from the factory on 12/19” was their reply.

I called them. They said they wouldn’t have that info until a delivery advisor is assigned. I’ve messaged them also. Let’s see if I get a different response.

So for my MSLR UR order, the EDD was Feb 1-March 14. Today I got assigned a 2023 VIN 530xxx. I have no issues with taking a 2023 VIN. Any other words of wisdom or advice from anyone though?

Not trying to be philosophical, but if something will bring you joy, and you can afford to pay for it, just lift the offer. Sweating over the minute details is not worth it. Just my humble opinion.

Agreed :) if you are doing heavy duty math on resale, then the other T (Toyota) is the better option.

Agreed that their demo pricing is nuts. It is roughly $1/mile although recently I’ve seen it increase to $1.50/mile which is also nuts. I wonder how many people look to save 1-2k on a 75-100k car that presumably has been ridden hard by different people.

Possibly but I doubt it. They announced MSSR in Aug, and then not a peep. It is a product with horrible positioning.

I can’t predict the next pricing move but IMO in medium term prices are coming down. To expand the buyer base for S they have to take market share from BMW 5 series and equivalent. Which means base price needs to come to mid 60Ks. An almost 30K price differential between M3P and MSLR will not...

For VIN purposes, how is the tenth letter (denoting year) established? There has to be a consistent approach across all manufacturers. Is it based on the day the build for that car started? Finished? Something else? Or do manufacturers have the leeway to decide? If BMW was selling a 2024 model...

Incorrect. I randomly checked NY and Dallas delivery locations. Those two only have 7 MSP URs.

We might get 2024 VINs but my theory is that there are no major enhancements in the work for MS. They simply have too much inventory of new and demo MS. They will hope that some people in line will give up and buy those so why not wait a few weeks to begin production?

I don’t think it makes any difference. I just rejected my trade in offer. Will post here if that changes the date.
