If you scroll down NSW also publishes new registration data which is a much closer proxy for sales. Tesla is 1545 of 98314 light vehicle sales ~1.6% YTD 2021. Almost the same as Lexus at 1549. BEV‘S are at 2220 or 2.3%

State based EV road user charge (Overturned 18/10/23)

So maybe it would be best to introduce this tax on EV’s now, as it is politicaly easier than placing on all cars, in preparation for the long term need and compensate with something like removing stamp duty on EV’s?

Will stronger AUD lead to price drop

My unscientific observation is they adjust pricing once a 5c threshold has been maintained ie below 65c for x weeks so price change. I don’t expect the price to change until we are above 70c for a few weeks. Also they tend to change the price once deliveries have been completed from the last...

    Evie EV charging networks

The technology has existed for a long time (Octopus card in Hong Kong launched in 1997), sad that it has taken so long in so many markets. At least mobile systems should replace it. Model Y arriving sooner than expected?

My understanding at the moment is our model Y will come from Giga Berlin and production is not due to start till 2021. Unless we get ours from China or US I can’t see us getting it till late 2021 at the earliest. This Recent post on Reddit indicates that standard range Y is not due till 2022...

    Efficient long drives...

My understanding is that trucks don’t like it as it is hard to see cars in their blind spot, probably not as big an issue now many trucks have rear camera’s but still not polite. Any loss of efficiency from a car (if real, fluid dynamics is a black art) is probably not noticeable to the rig...

    Tesla battery event Hornsdale

Disappointing that there is no mention of reducing gas demand rather than only increasing supply,. We need to modernise and move demand from gas to electricity, especially when matched with solar supply. Electricity prices will reduce due to plunging solar costs and battery prices will reduce...

Finally - national data on the number of BEVs and Teslas!

Thanks Miggy, I didn’t know the source of this data Vostok, not sure if you know that NZ has a large used car import market from Japan. For EV’s this has lead to used Nissan leafs being by far the biggest proportion of EV’s on the road (more than half of all EV’s I think) also see evtalk...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I think the sound issue would have been exacerbated by testing alongside the EQC which by all accounts I have seen is possibly the quietest production car ever. It is also correspondingly heavy and not very efficient which are not a big issue for its target market.

Thanks, I wondered if they would do that. I was thinking they would still need to run the power cables/conduit and have an area fenced off for this. I was going there for lunch so not out of my way. I drive past around once a fortnight.

I just drove past the Vallet parking section at lunch time, I couldn't see anything but I guess if someone goes and charges they could ask the Vallet's? As usual lots of spots available in that area, not so many in other places but not busy today as school is back and Uni hasn't started.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Hey Vostok, just so you know the model 3 does not have a heater like the S/X and gen 1 Leaf. It uses waste heat from the motor to heat the cabin and can run the motor in a different (inefficient) mode to generate heat. So with a model 3 in cold weather it is best to preheat before unplugging...

    Insurance quotes for Australian M3?

pricing is a dark art (along with most marketing). White interior on SR+

exactly, the theory is they have raised the price now so they can reduce it after the tax change like they have done previously. Also means they can offer ‘discounts’ on any inventory cars before the end of the year if needed.

    White interior on SR+

I wouldn’t be surprised if white becomes an option (early) next year. White has always been production constrained and limited to P at first release. Going bush in Model 3 over Christmas break

The article below describes the gen 2 MC and why for safety the max current was reduced from 40A to 32A. I think for the same reason the ANZ 10A and 15A plugs were reduced to 80% ie 8A and 13A. The new ANZ plugs probably also support the temperature sensing and current reduction. This is a good...
