Supercharger - Laurel, MT (LIVE Jul 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

Supercharger demand is going to increase a lot over the next few years, even in places like Billings. I really like this layout, a station on each end of town for through-travel and one in the city for folks visiting the town itself. Now if we could just get a station or two up north, maybe...

Charged today, a little strange that the hotel seems to be trying to claim the chargers for their guests.

    Biodefense mode

My wife feels it definitely helped her allergies when we had the S, and has missed it in the 3, so I'm glad to hear it will be in our new Y. The button itself is just for "Max Cleaning", the HEPA filters are working all the time.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It makes much more sense for Tesla to increase or decrease the cut they take from the Tesla Network then it would be to make a 2-tiered pricing structure. You'd have a huge incentive to cheat the system, Tesla would have to put significant energy into policing these tiers, there would be false...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think the used car market takes care of this issue. If FSD is the primary reason people of the future want to buy a used Tesla then used Teslas that lack FSD will be discounted by almost the full FSD price compared to used cars that have it.

Based on the returns of hedge funds it is unlikely that they have a lot more information than we do. Frankly their continuing existence is amazing, but then again we've known that actively managed mutual funds are generally terrible for years and they still exist.

My 2011 Leaf has this feature. Honestly not sure what took Tesla so long here. Edit: Arguably the Leaf timer is still superior as it can set two separate timers.

    Tesla launching Solar Roof V3

Here's a data-point on pricing, my roof was totaled this summer in a hail storm and we got bids on a replacement roof earlier this year. Bids are from a reputable local company. 30 Composition: $13,607 Metal Standing Seam: $26,379 Tesla Solar Roof (11.1kW): $48,519 Tesla After 2020 Incentives...

I did. After a big hail storm this summer we need a new roof. Looked into metal roofs for extra hail protection but they seem no better then normal shingles- even if the metal is structurally sound after hail it can look terrible and insurance won't cover that. With an insurance check and...

I think Elon and his questioner were talking past each other on that question. Tesla is happy for you to spend your money buying a mini-fleet of Teslas and running them on the Tesla Network, they'll be pocketing the 25% thank you very much. You just won't be able to run them on your own rental...

I'm curious how cheap the Volts are going to get. My friend who can't quite afford a Tesla yet got a new 2018 Volt last weekend for $19,500 after tax credit. The credit falling off is only going to make things worse.

If the system in the screenshot is for currently connected cars then I assume the mileage counter is the sum total of their odometers, and wouldn't include the distance driven by totaled cars that are no longer in existence. This could explain why the total is lower then expected. I have no...

    Past Leaf Drivers Users Group

Still own an OG 2011 Leaf with 68k miles on it that I bought off lease. The battery pack was replaced under warranty two years ago so it has full bars. It's a great little errand runner, cheap and reliable, but there's no question this is an economy car. It's starting to get plenty of squeaks...

I think it's interesting to pause and consider a $70k 2013 S60 when new compared to a $37k 2019 SR+. Six years down the road the SR+ is better in almost every way except interior space. That's amazing progress, and exactly what Tesla was founded to accomplish.

My middle School teacher friend who I'm giving my second reservation to ended up picking the SR+ with no other options. He was planning on getting a $35k model but the SR+ was too tempting to pass up. I suspect many people will make the same decision.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I'm curious about this reasoning, which I've seen in other deals too. Tesla stock is a liquid asset, so why would anyone care vs cash? Are there tax implications for the holders of Maxwell stock if they were to liquidate their Tesla shares right after the deal closed?

TSLA Market Action: 2018 Investor Roundtable

Agreed. The big guys have to advertise because unless you're an enthusiast they're all more or less interchangeable. As long as Tesla is ahead of the curve they can rely on word of mouth. In my very middle class neck of the woods I've got one SR sale lined up already and one that I'm working...

OT It's not black and white for a lot of use cases. Some folks 100% need a truck, some 0% need a truck. Lots of the in-between cases could get by with an occasional truck rental or thinking a bit outside the box if they wanted to. Hauling a load of plywood in a truck ad would be accompanied...

    Uber with a Tesla

A stock 3 would make a great ride sharing platform, but I don't think the currently available version is a great choice. Model 3 insurance

I don't know how valuable data points are but we pay less then $1,200/year to USAA for the 3 and a 2011 Leaf with no collision. The 3 doesn't seem bad to insure to me.
