I have full self driving on my model 3. If I buy a new Tesla does FSD transfer

This may or may not be helpful to you (or others reading), but here goes. My insurance company considers anything on the original purchase order to be covered. So if your car is totaled, the insurance company should consider the value of anything, software included, on the original bill of...

    2020.20.1

    I have a P85DL from 2015. AP1, MCU1, installing now. So not just AP2 cars.

    Abnormal consumption Model S P85D

I also have a 2015 P85D. The wh/mile for 'rated range' is 310. This is with 19 inch wheels. You could expect slightly higher consumption with 21 inch wheels, maybe 10wh/mile. So to translate to km, that's 186wh/km for rated, and likely 190-195 for the 21 inch weels for rated range. I've...

Tesla drops annual service for as needed service

I was thinking, I wonder how much of the service centers time was spent on annual maintenance? By changing this recommendation, that potentially frees up service centers from having to service as many cars, reducing the pressure on them.

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

You mention 'Fair Claim Settlement Practices'. It seems different states have different versions of this (often called unfair claim settlement practices). Is there also a national standard that all insurance companies must follow, that specifically talks about loss of use? If you have any...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

*UPDATE* We got our car back on January 25th, but there were some minor cosmetic issues that needed to be resolved, so it went back in and we got it back officially on February 15th. We are in progress with the other parties insurance company, dealing with Diminished Value, Loss of Use, and...

Topfit Non-Slip Aluminum Pedal Covers for Model 3 $20.00

No dice. Sorry, won't be needing them. Good luck with the sale!

Topfit Non-Slip Aluminum Pedal Covers for Model 3 $20.00

Ooh, I might want these. I need to ask my wife first to see if she wants them for her Model 3. Can you hold them for me until tomorrow? I will have a yes or no by then!

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Just as a point of fact, this is being repaired not with tesla directly, so it's not really tesla that is dropping the scheduling ball.

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

The saga continues. Last week, they prepped the car for me, and had to do a software update. Unfortunately, nobody at the shop thought to do this before. The update failed, so they had to get another part. They got it, put it in, and this week, agian a failure to update. They don't know...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Sorry for your loss. :( The car took the energy and sent it around the passenger cabin. For the speed, we had some seatbelt brusing and that was it. Absolutely lucky. That said, I think it's trash that I have to haggle with the repair shop. Insurance companies need to do their due...

No gap, as I have new car replacement insurance. Also, was not totaled.

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

I think it depends greatly on the market you're in. If you're on the coasts, esp places like the bay area or NY or Seattle, you'll see $125/hr for body/paint. The fact that Travelers is balking at $60/hour is pretty crappy though.
  15. Z

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Happy to share. Travelers is the company. They said something about 'state mandated labor rate' they pay, insinuating it was spelled out in statute. Which... I don't believe, and have not found. The shop didn't quote me their rates, so they don't have a leg to stand on. They already...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Fast forward to today. The repairs are complete, and just waiting a final test drive to ensure everything is in order. Tesla inspected, and has effectively signed off on the repairs, and everything is in good order. But. The body shop now tells me the insurance company isn't paying their...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

I"m not sure it would matter? This wasn't a small repair job (>$12k in repair costs so far), so it would not have taken a shorter amount of time due to the quantity of parts required, and frame work needing to be done. Even if they had all the parts on hand and worked on it non-stop, it would...

Supercharger Tier 1 vs Tier 2

Hello! To be clear, Kwh = capacity. Kw = power. If the car is charging at a rate of >60Kw (power coming into the car) then you are charged at the tier 2 rate. If the car is charging at a rate of <60Kw, then you are charged at the Tier 1 rate. The rate you are charges does not have to...

First P85D adopters stuck in black hole

I stumbled on this thread, and am so glad I did! I'm also a P85DL owner, about 54k miles, with the LTE upgrade. I couldn't be happier with it, and still enjoy mashing the go pedal with new riders or just by myself. :) STILL GRINNING!

It is not, totally different hardware and not upgradable.

    Autopilot 1

As far as I am aware, as I own an AP1 car, this update will not work for AP1 vehicles, only AP2 and up. This due primarily to there being no rear-facing camera on the AP1 cars.

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

I thought I would provide an update for those who might be watching. All critical parts have arrived and repair has begun, this was as of a few days ago. "Critical" parts, exclude things like trim, or other parts that can be done after the main body repair is finished. I don't have an ETA...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Hmm. Interesting. Is there any documentation available on this? So even though this isn't a warranty issue, Telsa will compensate me for transportation and fuel in the event they don't have parts immediately available for a quick repair?

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Well, this is just outside of Baltimore, west side. Electrical work is definitely $150, but the rest was lower. Gosh, I hope you get good news. Keep me posted, I'm interested to hear how things go all around. Yeah, we shall see....

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Front bumper is not cracked, it has a small dent and it's plastic, so they plan to repair and repaint. Doubt I can get anything changed out. :p Yeah, this was very surprising to me too. I think the fact that the quarter panels were not damaged is a big reason for this. Under $50/hr labor...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

First report from the adjuster. Amazingly, the damage estimate is ~8k. To answer a couple of (preemptive questions), yes, this is through a Tesla authorized body shop, and the labor rate is surprisingly reasonable at under $50/hr for body work. There is an expectation of some unseen work...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Yeah, it's quite a bit more than the rear bumper cover. Liftgate, front hood, front bumper, rear bumper, floor pan storage caved at least, rear bumper reinforcement (and that's just what I could see). Very likely damage to quarter panels, most likely left side. Hard to say as I didn't take...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

I've definitely contacted my insurance company. Near as I can tell, 'underinsured' does not qualify for diminished value claims, only uninsured. Any further DV claim I wish to make would be to the at fault party, and if they say no, I would have to take them to court. (Confirming these...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Oh, I'm pretty sure there is a lot more damaged under the cover. Thankfully, the adjuster will be having the shop tear things apart prior to making any sort of damage/repair estimates. I am consulting an attorney to determine if my best course of action is to go through my own or to work...

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Yeah, unfortunately, not in this case. I do have new car replacement insurance, but it only kicks in, in the event of a total loss. (Which seems unlikely, but I will push best I can for it!)

Model 3 - Accident, Frustration, and Looming Repairs

Dear Tesla Friends, In March 2015, we took delivery on our Model S. Best car we've ever owned. In March 2016, we put our deposit down on a Model 3. Finally, in August 2018, we took delivery of our Model 3 as our second car. All electric family (after trading in our 'almost' all electric...

First look with pictures at Tesla’s new mobile app

Something that I noticed, that wasn't possible in the previous release, is homelink activation while plugged in. Previously, if the car was plugged in, the summon menu would not be accessible. Now, even with the car being plugged, you can go to the summon menu and engage the primary homelink...

    MS60 charging rate

Welcome to ownership! First, check out this link. Supercharger | Tesla Scroll down to where it talks about 'how it works' and that has a lot of good information. The short story is, the more full your battery becomes, the slower the charge rate will become. This is to protect the battery by...

    High-Five to the 2.52.22 Update

I held the scroll wheels, which I believe is for the entire system. The IC and the 17 inch display power cycled during this time, if I recall.

    High-Five to the 2.52.22 Update

So, if you ever get put in the penalty box and don't mind a driving reboot, rebooting clears the penalty. I tested this with the most recent version PRIOR to the one just released in the last few days.

Still Waiting for Elon's Blog Post on Autopilot Update...

Nobody mentioned this one yet. Will take highway exit if indicator on (8.0) or if nav system active (8.1). Available in the United States initially To me, this sounds like initially you can hit the turn signal and the car will follow the exit ramp. Then, with 8.1, it sounds like the car will...

Odd smell in cabin after short SC stop

Yes, double for this. It may be nothing at all. However, if there is some sort of short causing a component to heat beyond expected levels, well, you don't want something melting (or worse). I'm certain the SC will take a report like this seriously and make sure there is nothing of concern on...

Newer P90DL makes 662 hp at the battery!!!

Sorka, we're car twins. I'm at about 22k miles and am also hitting about 224 on a 90% charge. I've been really impressed at the (minimal) battery degradation over this time. I purchased mine in March 2015 for a time reference.

    First Responders Instructional Video

That's for the Model S. Not the Model X. There is information here regarding FWD, and maybe other elements (that I haven't reviewed fully), but I don't see why this is a problem to post in the Model X forum, as it is indeed about the X.

    Autopilot changes???

Often times speed limits are subjective. Also, the ability for an individual to control a car at higher speeds varies from person to person, and the capabilities of their cars differ. Not watching the road isn't subjective. Not watching gives you a 100% chance of missing something while you...

    Autopilot changes???

All it takes is a glance. Autopilot will not: Avoid obstacles. Avoid potholes. Avoid people. Avoid animals. Stop at red lights or stop signs. Be aware of any signs. Change speed to match speed limits. The list goes on. There are many more things autopilot can't do, vs what it can. Research...

    Firmware 7.1

Given the update context and timing, I would suspect this update was done to address the situation where summon ran into the truck. A double tap of the park button is difficult, but not impossible to inadvertently do. Ignoring the 4 way flashers and dings, again possible if you're...

Potential AEB misstep. I may have lost confidence.

It should be pointed out, that AEB is not the same as Collision Warning. AEB will engage at some point if a crash in imminent. The Warning will happen prior to that at a setting sensitivity of your choosing. Changing the warning sensitivity in no way affects AEB timing.

@ChiGuy - Yeah, dude, that one has a little rim rash on the front right wheel. Buyer beware, going to have to replace that.
