EV incentives, I think it is a complete joke.

i cannot comment on the rest of the world, especially places where there is no rebate, maybe the price of gas there is super expensive? maybe the big power v8 there have a 200% green levy? There are just way too many factors. but I do know, every single person standing in the line that day...

EV incentives, I think it is a complete joke.

I can tell you, when I was lining up at the store, the 14000 is the ONLY reason why there is a line up. think about it, why would people line up for a car they haven't seen? the only reason is b/c it is CHEAP, and they know deep down inside the rebate won't last forever. as soon as gov sees...

Petition to increase the EV tax credit cap

can you not read? I never asked to extend that thing. in fact, I will be perfectly happy if they cancel the 14000 rebate all together. and make all previous EV owners repay their rebates as well.

Petition to increase the EV tax credit cap

those people who signed are truly making me sick. asking the gov to use public tax money in order to support you own individual transportation needs for your own benefit. I have no words...

EV incentives, I think it is a complete joke.

if there is a bus directly from my front door to work, i would take it. so the point being if they keep building the public transportation network then there will be a day when taking a bus is more convenient than driving. gov can also tax more on gas cars, which i believe they already do...

LA Times article: "German automakers who once laughed off Elon Musk are now starting to worry"

they say 2019, time will tell. at least I believe it. and it is not only apple either, google too. they are not gonna wait for each other and shareholders won't wait that long either.

EV incentives, I think it is a complete joke.

last time i checked a forum is used for people to express their opinion, which can mean both + and - if you feel like you have something to contribute, why don't you spell it out. as in, why do you think using public tax money to support individual transportation needs is justified. Koch...

EV incentives, I think it is a complete joke.

friend has 70d, drove it pedal to the metal. pretty fast for street but still much slower than my toys. great dd car for sure, but heavy as a pig.
  9. B

LA Times article: "German automakers who once laughed off Elon Musk are now starting to worry"

the fact that apple a computer/phone maker with 0 experience with 4 wheels can and will build an ev in 3 years should prove my point of ev is much much simpler than ICE cars. the landscape will change a lot very very quickly.
  10. B

EV incentives, I think it is a complete joke.

instead of supporting individual needs, they can make most buses EVs or lower public transportation fare or build more bus lines and build better clean mass transport system. I said to my friend who has a model s, if you really care about the environment then you will either walk to bike to take...

EV incentives, I think it is a complete joke.

using collective tax payer money to support individual transportation needs. why don't they use that amount of money to protect the environment more? I have no words for those people who signed the petition to extend the EV rebate, how can they even justify their cause? I wonder if at dinner...

Anybody saw the LeEco car from a Chinese company? Thoughts?

I need a grocery getter/winter car, our gov is also giving rebate of 14000 CAD and who knows how long that will last. I reserved it b/c it is a good deal, if the final product is acceptable. to me I always think the gov rebate thing is a complete joke, using collective tax payer money to...

LA Times article: "German automakers who once laughed off Elon Musk are now starting to worry"

yes so far major advantage for tesla's sc network but BMW/other car makers were also forming a pack in terms of mapping services and other AP learning networks etc. so I will not be surprised that they form a pack in terms of developing charging standards and networks as well. at this moment...

LA Times article: "German automakers who once laughed off Elon Musk are now starting to worry"

fair point, but as of this moment tesla is yet produce 500k cars, right? last year they made 50k cars. by the time they can ramp up to 500k cars, that will be at least in 2019. 3 years from now. a lot can change in 3 years. but with model 3 reservation hype, all car makers in Germany had...

LA Times article: "German automakers who once laughed off Elon Musk are now starting to worry"

they are already making i3 pure ev, last time i checked they are not making their own battery either. believe or not a car manufacture barely makes anything themselves, most parts are supplied by third party vendors, battery is no exception. as long as there is a demand, some vendor will sell...

LA Times article: "German automakers who once laughed off Elon Musk are now starting to worry"

any body can make a EV, heck BYD made a 200mile EV already. if BMW or Benz wants a EV they can hack it up in no time. the only question is are they willing to, and how they are going to market it. kinda hard to sell a pure EV while selling a 600+hp 4.4 twin turbo V8 monster that gets 15miles...

[R+T] Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine

seems like all Ev owners wanted to do is compare straight-line times, that is what the author of the article pointed out. and certainly it seems to be very true. I never know pressing down a pedal with one speed transmission takes this much skills lol so @doubejj, why didn't you look up...

    Is HUD a bad idea?

HUD was designed for fighter pilot, the whole intention is so that they don't have to look elsewhere (focus) while fighting. DD is just another dash, nothing fancy about them. I drove plenty of BMW with HUD, to me HUD is a must for a modern car. In fact, for a 120k car like 90d model S without...

[R+T] Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine

the last time i checked, the biggest track near me has a back straight that is about 1km long = 0.625 miles. 1/4 mile is just a short stretch, b/c people in the 50/60s needs a safe place to race in a straight line... cars in that era only have a few HP. an Ev car has no chance past even 1/3...

[R+T] Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine

FYI rev head does not admire AMGs, 7000rpm is not high rev and you can't predict the future, you are not god. In 30 years maybe true high rev n/a v8s like e92 m3, GT350, 458 will fetch 1million+ while old model 3 goes straight to recycle after the junk yard picks it up for 200 bucks.
  24. B

[R+T] Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine

you can look at rs7 on the low end , panemera turbo s on the high end not quite as fast 0-60, but we know the road doesn't end just at 60mph

[R+T] Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine

you should also know hellcat, during 2015 model years were limited by the number of engines they can produce. also there is 25-50k adm on a hellcat during early release. that is right, the ADM costs more than a model 3. I personally don't like a car like hellcat, but to dodge that car was one...

[R+T] Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine

any stock gt-r, 911 turbo, same price range as p90L, can pretty much match it for 0-60, out pace it in 1/4 and more. basically pretty much any high power AWD DCT cars can give p90L a run in the straight line. and any decent litre bikes can pretty much do the same. 9.6-9.8s in 1/4. EV is not...

[R+T] Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine

3 mins, 3 and 1/2 mins or 4 mins, not a big difference. the fact is there are simply not enough cooling. even modern ICE cars go limp, let alone an EV car with close to 0 cooling capabilities.

Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine "The Model 3, which in its current pre-production form looks like a cross between the first-generation Nissan Stanza hatchback and the unlamented 1999 Mercury Cougar, is supposed to have all sorts of surprise-and-delight features like...

[R+T] Electric Torque Is No Replacement for a High-Revving Engine

lol keep dreaming... you won't even get to see the LED tail light of my S1000RR, in less than 3 mins on any track your battery will overheat and going to limp mode. that is just a fact lol EV car has its uses, that is why I ordered one, you know, getting groceries etc.

F30 3 series came out in 2012, so 2018 will be the...
