    Model S&X Price Adjustments

Dude, you are the one bought a Tesla recently supporting the company and leader. Tesla has been like that since 2017 when I bought my X. You should've done more researches about Tesla pricing and its leader if you had doubts. I sold my X 2 years ago and never looked back. Has Tesla ever reached...

I think you misunderstood about the "credit you get at nights. It only means it's free. Hope my bill in June can help. From Tesla app, we used about 2500kWh in last period.

Go to "Energy" on the app, change the timescale to "Month" and then look at the "Energy Destinations" at the bottom. It shows the percentage of solar generation in the month.

I had their extended warranty on my X but that didn't cover my replacement of air suspension after the original warranty expired. IIRC, that cost me $1700 to replace 1 front suspension.

The credit rolls over to the next month. I don't remember Just Energy will cut their customer a check by the end of the service or look at the credit annually.

I don't do grid charging yet so I can avoid any chances of tax implications. Normally, my 2 PWs are fully charged before noon. The only downside is the stupid Tesla app doesn't charge my PWs to full without me switching the toggle of "Permission to Export".

I also cannot set it at $0.00 from ios or android but it doesn't matter as long as PWs work the way they are supposed to. I've contacted Tesla multiple times, they said in their algo, there is no $0.00 at buy rate.

My storm watch kicked off too. I cheap out to not let it charge my 2 pws. I still have 60% left plus my EV6.

Thanks for sharing on Tesla Electric. $12.94 for a week... doesn't that mean it could be $50 something for a month? I'm glad I didn't switch... ;)

I have storm watch enabled. My PWs started getting grid charging around 1PM today because an arctic storm is coming TOMORROW NIGHT. :oops:The problem is my 2 PWs were at 85% full and my system was generating 5kW+ at that time... Why not doing grid charging tonight when the rate is super cheap...

We are also using Just Energy and signed the contract for 3 yrs. With one EV (can't wait for our Rivian and RRS PHEV to come), in Oct, we used 1500kWh and the bill is $-17. In Nov, we used 1300kWh and the bill is about $-8. It could be better if the Tesla PWs algorithm works with the time based...

My AP did not slow down on curvy highways. I'm pretty sure Tesla would say it'd be my responsibility if the car spun out 2 seconds after AP disengaged... Too many things to say about AP in my 5yr exp but this thread is not for it ;) Before the next version comes out, I have to disable...

No kidding, both are half baked solutions. With time based and reservation of 30% for power outage, why can't my 2 pws get charged to 100% before sending power to grid? Ohh, it's a bug in the current version. Our dev will release the fix in next version, per Tesla.
  21. G

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

With our usage and free nights plan, I don't see how Tesla electric plan is going to benefit us. For the past 2 months, my electric bill has been around $-10 with 1500kWh and 1300kWh consumption.

I think BG meant to say to buy space heaters so you won't feel like you are wasting the solar power. We use radiator heaters in each room plus central air with natural gas.

You don't have permission to export yet thus it shows 0 to grid. however, pre pto, mine system did show 0.2 kW or some exported to grid from time to time but that can be ignored.

3 cents buy back when you are on a free nights or weekends plan. Most of the companies don't even offer that buyback with free nights/weekends.

    1. Not sure why you have 2 meters. I only have 1. 2. I went for Just Energy. But if I could do it again, I probably will go for a plan that starts at 8PM instead of 9PM. I have my system for almost 3 months. Pre-PTO, my monthly charge was $5. Post-PTO, it was $10. EV6 at the moment and hopefully...

Just Energy. In reality, it doesn't matter too much as my solar panels and 2 PWs cover 99% of usage outside the free nights.
  27. G

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Totally agree. We have 2 PWs and now we are on free nights plan which works out very well. The only problem is Tesla's App will not charge PWs to 100% when I set the backup to 30% for time-based control. I have to manually adjust that to 50% and then adjust it back down to 30% late afternoon.

All batteries degrade no matter what and solar panels degrade as well. My 2017 Model X had 15% degradation after 5yr/60k miles... o_O My solar panels and batteries were installed on 7/25/2022 and the setup has been working well. I also have free nights but the algorithm from Tesla is to start...

Just curious, before PTO, why didn't you either do self-powered from the Tesla app or physically power down the main panel to avoid paying "regular" electrical bills? You would need to manually switch back to the grid at the time free nights start though.

How to setup Tesla app for free nights in Texas and suggestions of plans.

Where does it say there is a 0.03 buyback? Do you have to call in to get that info? If that is not in the contract, could they remove it during the contract period?

How to setup Tesla app for free nights in Texas and suggestions of plans.

Reliant is a bit cheaper than Green Mountain with the same free nights hrs (8PM-6AM). In my case, I'll pass Amigo because their free nights start at 9PM. Pulse might work for you but they don't waive the delivery charge from CenterPoint at nights.

To OP, it's likely taking me almost a whole yr to get it installed. I put the deposit down last Oct and the installation day is coming at the end of July.

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Well, it should not need 7 hrs of 100% production. That 40kw is already the total usage for the whole day. IF 27kW from pw is also used up from last night, panels only need to supply the power for day time plus charging up the pw.

Texas owners: Free nights or Net metering

Interesting, @GWord also lives in TNMP service area and could get free nights from Amigo. My research shows that either Reliant 24 or Green Mountain 24 could save me the most if my panels and powerwalls can cover 90% to 100% of the need during daytime and the monthly charge is between $5 to $20.
  38. G

I checked the plan from Amigo. They have Securitization Default Charges for 0.00196 cent/kWh. Is that a charge for power delivery at nights?

Thanks. I read a few of your posts to understand how the free nights work so it got me thinking to get free nights as well. :) From what I see on GM's website, there is no "regular" version whereas all "All Nighter" plans say "Premier"... Because of the price jump from GM and I specified the...

I'm about to get our 15.6 kW system and 2 powerwalls installed which will produce an estimated 18,762 kWh/yr to cover 100% of our usage. Let's say if I use 45% of electricity at night. Will free nights (from 8PM to 6AM, 35.7 cents/kWh during daytime + $4.39 monthly charge) make more sense than...

What other EV SUVs have you considered?

It's probably just personal taste coming from an ex-Tesla, BMW, and Porsche family. ;) Simplicity is not what a luxury brand should follow. What other EV SUVs have you considered?

Yep, just like what I shared in an iX forum, while the exterior aesthetics, driving dynamics, and speed are phenomenal, the interior from the dashboard, screens, controls, UI, windows for rear passengers, and trunk space is leaving a lot to be desired. I had owned a Model X for 5 years unless...

Steering suddenly stiff at certain angles

My 2017 X with 58k miles just got the same symptom. I was told if I didn't get the extended warranty, it'd be around $600 to replace. I'm assuming the new shaft has a new design since the part number is different (1027826-00-A vs 1027826-00-B).
