Road trip to northern and Republic of Ireland

Hopefully this is still useful to you. My experience is focused on NI and Donegal - I'm not sure about further south (expect Dublin & Cork would be much better though). There are no Superchargers in NI, though one is scheduled for the Belfast service centre later this year. And a distinct lack...

UK and Ireland Marketplace - For Sale / Wanted / Free

Floor mats (original) I have a set of factory/original floor mats that were delivered with my Tesla Model 3 LR dual motor in June last year. They are virtually as-new - only used for a week before I replaced them. If anyone in the Glasgow area wants to collect them, they are welcome to them...

    All seasons in the summer?

Keen to hear any views on this as well. I drive to rural bits of the north of Scotland fairly regularly. Considering the Michelin CrossClimate 2s for my M3 LR. I used to do winter/summer swaps on the old car, and while the winter tyres were fantastic (Nokian WR D4 I think), the cost and hassle...

Recommended charging cables - 3 phase, 32 amp, type 2

Yep - original post explained I got a 3.5m one with the car. Thanks all for the recommendations - I've gone for the Mennekes 7.5m one from Nic-e Shop.

Recommended charging cables - 3 phase, 32 amp, type 2

I've noticed that with my home charger too - single phase, but the voltage is closer to 250 than 230V, so I get nearly 8kW! A Brucie Bonus!

Recommended charging cables - 3 phase, 32 amp, type 2

Hi there, I'm looking for recommendations for a Type 2, 32 amp 3-phase charging cable to use with my 2021 Model 3 for use with public and home charging. I want around 7.5m length, or 10m if that's all that's available. I'm particularly keen to get a high-quality one, that uses relatively...

    Fully Charged Show

Not sure I understand the negativity - I always look forward to seeing a new FC video in my feed, and feel that my regular Patreon support is good value. Robert, Dan and their team have done an enormous amount to push sustainable living forward over the past 10 years or so. It can't have been...

    Chargeplace Scotland CYC

The other thing that's worth noting about the transition is that there will be some charger downtime during the weekend of the 26th/27th July, as they reboot chargers and add them to the new back-end system. According to the webinar on EVA Scotland, it'll be progressive, so if your charging...

    Chargeplace Scotland 50kw CCS??

Indeed! The latest downtime has been truly shocking, but not surprising. They seem to have DDoS'ed their own website by encouraging all members to log in at once, at 5pm on a Friday... just as their sysadmins go home for the weekend. The main login link is still broken today, four days later.

Wiki UK 2021 Orders and Pending Deliveries

I collected on Saturday from Glasgow with no issues (and the car is great!) The EST loan came in on Wed, and I'd transferred out the balance to Tesla the same day. Since my account had cleared by end of business that day, and showed no balance outstanding, I wasn't asked for any kind of...

    Glasgow collection

My collection experience from Saturday - car has no issues so far and looks great! It was charged to 69% but I'm not sure if that's standard. 5 people collecting at the same time as me. The site is still a portakabin in an overflow car park. The advisor wasn't sure when the service centre...

Wiki UK 2021 Orders and Pending Deliveries

Yes that's right. I transferred £3* first of all to confirm the payee details, and it showed up within about 20 minutes. I called Tesla for them to confirm receipt. At other times, it has taken up to four or five hours to show - Tesla said it could take up to half a day, so I suppose it must...

Wiki UK 2021 Orders and Pending Deliveries

Yes it does seem a bit of a strange set of expectations on the EST's side. At least with Tesla and their global shipping routes, cars could be several weeks to months out from the initial order date, so there is a bit of time to get things in order. but it'd be worse if you were buying from a...

EST funds arrived this morning for me. No extra notification but it did seem to take from Friday to today via BACS.

Wiki UK 2021 Orders and Pending Deliveries

Yes there is a separate notification when it's paid out by them (subject line starts "Payment confirmation"). It notes that it can take up to 5 working days via BACS. Which is the limbo that I'm currently in. I think @imstitch is right about the days of the week when they do payment runs. They...

    Four-letter supercharger groups

As I understand it that's correct. Each cabinet is 1MW and handles four 250kW bays, so there should be no load sharing. Presumably the four are labelled A,B,C,D to help with identification in case of maintenance/outages, since otherwise there's no need for users to pick the 'best' stall...

On the ferry terminals - yes they are a strategic gap, especially since Stena/P&O moved from Stranraer (where there are at least a few public chargers) to Cairnryan. However I think I read somewhere on this thread that there's going to be a supercharger in Belfast reasonably near the port at the...

Indeed - thank you @Mr Miserable - it’s been fun speculating which ship my car might be on, and tracking the progress. Wasn’t expecting a port arrival photo but that’s great! Now if you could just log in to your satellite imagery console tonight and check my car for scratches that’d be great… 😊

    VAT increase on public chargers

    MiC LR Fog Lights

Meanwhile In Scotland... I'd never buy a car without front fog lights, mostly for the value of being seen by other drivers, but they're also great for the driver inpicking up things that are off-axis to your headlights in poor visibility. Adaptive headlights can help with that, but foggies are...

Home Charge Points Discussion and Suggestions [megathread]

OK so I have questions about the EO Mini Pro 2 versus the Zappi. I have solar, but only a very small array (around ~1.4kW). Ideally I'd like to do solar matching charging, but realistically it seems unlikely to generate the current required to charge a Model 3. I've spoken to an installer, who...

    2021 Shipping Movements

I ordered M3 LR with tow bar from inventory on 6th May, and delivery appointment is 12th June. Tesla say it left the factory in Shanghai recently so could it be on the Hyperion Ray as well? The VIN appeared in the 'Manage' page source code today and it's LRW3F7EB4MC234xxx .

Scotland: Energy Saving Trust loan limit is dropping

Where are you seeing that information about the Scottish EV loan? In many ways that's a bigger issue for folk here than the £3k grant going away. EDIT: Just found the info on the EST applications site. Will post on the main thread about it.

Higher value EVs not eligible for £3,000 PiCG (grant) anymore!

I understand the politics here - but the greenwashed justification in the press release is laughable. UK government has frozen petrol/diesel duties for 11 years, which is a huge effective subsidy to the fossil fuel industry.

    Interesting article on charger locations

I agree there is a distinct difference in placement/facilities. But what you're saying is: if she wants to stay safe, buy a Tesla?!! It shouldn't be left to her to use her market power to ensure her safety/security. All charge point operators should be taking this into account.

Difficulty sending down payment from Nationwide Building Society

I have no experience of this process, but I would be tempted to use the IBAN + SWIFT numbers anyway. IBANs have a built-in checksum, which can help avoid typos on the account number (always a concern for me when sending large payments!).
