I was going to drive it myself for the experience and to save a few dollars. However, as quoted above, by the time I pay for Supercharging, hotels, food etc it will be cheaper to ship it.
Hello all and Happy Thanksgiving. I have a M3 that I will want to ship from the midwest to California. I have contacted a couple of car shippers and they want about ~$1000 to ship the car in an uncovered trailer.
Has anyone shipped their Tesla?
Did you do so in a covered trailed or uncovered...
@Los Angeles
I am unaware of any way to check on how many charges are being used at any given location other than in your car. The users would change frequently so looking on line before getting in your car may only tell what the number of open chargers was before you even started driving.
As...
@Los Angeles
They only do so if you are not on a trip and there is a backlog or others waiting.
So, if you are on a trip you can charge to 100%. However, if not on a trip and there is a backlog of Teslas waiting to charge you will be limited to 80% All superchargers now work this way.
The address shown on Supercharge.info (235 S Indian Canyon Dr.) is different than what others are reporting here. I spend half the year in Palm Springs and see no evidence of any activity anywhere. I must say the reported address on Supercharge.info does not make sense since that is property...
@tga Thanks and one question If this was the case, that interference form UMC was causing this, would it happen right away? Because when it does trip it may be after many minutes or even hours after charging.
Someone else posted that the GFCI breaker maybe interfering with the GFCI in the UMC cable. I wonder about that. The car will charge for many minutes or even an hour before the breaker trips. If it was interference wouldn't that occur right away?
@eprosenx Once again thank you. Yes, the breaker is from 2008 when the house was built. It was originally for a Hot Tub which I have removed a couple of years ago. The breaker was turned off for a couple of years and I have now just wired the 14-50 into that breaker after unwiring the run that...
@eprosenx Thanks for helping. No, it does not give any indication of what trips it. The wiring was just hooked up to the breaker two days ago and it was torqued pretty hard so I doubt that loose wiring is the issue.
I am also thinking the breaker is bad. The house was built in 2008. Can they go...
I have GFCI as part of my 50 AMP breaker with a 6/3 NM-B hooked to a 14-50. Periodically the breaker trips. Someone thought perhaps the GFCI part of breaker is broken. The car (M3) doesn't pull more than 32 AMPS so that can't be tripping it.
Any thoughts or ideas?
So, it looks like I was all set to "open the wall" and then I read this regarding "strapping". My intent was to drill holes through the studs and then run the romex through the holes.
What is this about strapping?
How do you fish romex through the drywall?
I am also getting into a garage with finished walls and I was just going to put the 14-50 where I come in from the basement. But, if one can easily fish through drywall I would rather put it in another location.
My IDA kept telling me that she would expedite the paperwork to get me the MVPA. Then, she realized I was financing through Tesla and said I would not get an MVPA in advance I would just handle (sign) all at the delivery center. The delivery center did call me two days ago and advised the car...
I am curious about charging at an RV park.
Do you have to pay for a site to do this or do you just hop on in, plug in, have a smoke , charge, and then leave?
Does any one know about length of wire run. I am interested to determine if there are any limitations to the run length for either the 14-50 or the HPWC. I have perhaps a 110 foot run and am curious if any problems with this.
@Troy
Mine now just says:
The information below will be used to generate your final contract and your final payment amount. If you mark information incorrect, a specialist will be in touch with you. Changes after confirmation may affect your delivery date.
So I am assuming that perhaps a VIN...
OK, so less than 24 hours ago I placed my order. I just looked at the Tesla Amount Page and the button to manage my order. The "Edit" Button which was there earlier today is now gone.
What does this mean?

Troy, I ordered today and placed my information in the spreadsheet. I did not have a reservation so marked the No Reservation on the input sheet. However, the spreadsheet Column F does not have any data for my entry. Is this correct?

Well, I did it!
Just placed my order and deposit for Model 3 Long Range, with RWD 18" Aero Wheels and in Silver Metallic with Enhanced Auto Pilot.
Now the wait begins.
Well, this is not good. If I do not get the $7500 I should not order one now. The largest factor is that I have a vehicle lease today that does not expire until May 2019. The numbers with a $7500 tax credit allow me to feel better about having two vehicles for 5-6 months. I just mowed my lawn...
So, if configuration and ordering is the same and the average number of days to get delivery is 23 why does Tesla state it takes ~2-4 months for delivery. Something seems fishy. Or, I have just not had enough caffeine yet today!
WOW! There is so much info here. I have been watching this for some time.
Test drove a Model 3 last Tuesday. Got "permission" to go ahead and order one yesterday. RWD, LRB, PUP, EAP, color and wheels uncertain.
My question is: if I order in the next couple of days will I be able to get prior...
