Rear Model X wheel and tire on front in an emergency?

I was told by someone at a tire place that putting a plug in a tire will void the warranty. Is that true?

About Teslas in the Hawaiian islands

You’re right about the whole state, but what about the Windward islands, or even just between Oahu, Molokai and Maui? Those seem like they would be relatively short trips.

    Truck bed Suggestion

With all the steel in the tailgate for the ramp, won’t the lift gate without power be challenging? It seems that it could be 2 or 3 times heavier than a gate without the ramp?

About Teslas in the Hawaiian islands

I don’t really understand the word play. I said I’m interested in moving to Hawaii (as in the state). Since the state is made up of several islands, I was saying that rather than the island of Oahu, I was interested in Maui. It’s good that they have mobile tech, but beyond what a mobile tech...

About Teslas in the Hawaiian islands

I’m thinking about moving to Hawaii, but not Oahu where the only service center is to my knowledge. What do folks do that live on the other islands when you need service. Do you have to take a ferry over? About how much does it cost? Did any of you ship your Tesla from the mainland when you...

Shopping cart hit and walk-caught on Sentry cam

Did anybody suggest you call your local TV station and tell them about your frustration? They might want to run it as a human interest story and that might shame both Costco and the lady. You never know what might happen from there.

    Truck bed Suggestion

I’ve read several sources criticize the difficulty of reaching items toward the front of the truck bed because of the height of the wings. You would normally reach those things from the side of the truck. What do you think of addressing this by providing a slide-out truck bed rather than a...

Electric Pickup Roundup: Musk Says Tesla's Cyberpunk Truck is Months Away

I suspect you're right. Probably toward end of year. My next Tesla will be the pickup. Would be nice if I could get it before the 4-year warranty on my Model X ends.

    Supercharger - Gainesville, FL

We should cool the V3 talk. Tesla has said those are for long distance travel. Gainesville is packed in between Ocala and Lake City. Better candidates would Tifton and Macon, I think.

    Model X 5 Seat Deliveries

With the Falcon Wing Door motors and hinges over that middle seat, head room over that position is very limited. I think even a 5'8" person would be uncomfortable there, so the height of the headrest may be irrelevant. I think only a child would be comfortable there. And like you stated, the...

    Supercharger - Gainesville, FL

Sorry for the late reply, I forgot to go that time. But today I went and drove all around that end of the shopping center, not just around the Bonefish, and there’s nothing anywhere. And all that area is brand new. It seems that if they were going to build it they would have done it before all...

    Supercharger - Gainesville, FL

What intersection? I didn’t even know there was one here. It would make sense, since Tesla has that deal with Wawa. The ones in Live Oak and Jacksonville are at Wawa stations and at least one in Tampa also is

    Supercharger - Gainesville, FL

That’s good information. I’ll be in that area of Gainesville today and will take a look. That location has its pluses and minuses. It’s a lot more congested with more traffic almost all the time, but there are more amenities there than on the other side of the interstate.

    Supercharger - Gainesville, FL

I don’t know what your logistics are once you get to gville, but remember that the Reitz Union has free charging in their parking lot and it’s free to park for 4 hours if charging. It’s onky level 2, but it might give you some peace of mind margin. And I don’t know that the City is responsible...

    Electricity outage at Superchargers?

Sorry for the late response. That was great input. I’ll plan on that for the future. The trip turned out fine, by the way. Was able to get enough charge in Tifton to make it to Atlanta.

    Supercharger - Gainesville, FL

That address is on the permit because that’s the location of the Butler Plaza Develpoment office. I think it’s more likely that they will locate the chargers over at the Celebration Point area on the other side of the interstate to draw more traffic to that area

    Electricity outage at Superchargers?

I should have been more specific in my original post. It's Tifton and possibly Macon that I need. I was able to get through to Tesla and both have power. For anyone else that might need them, in Macon 1-A, 1-B, 3-A, 3-B and 4-A are at full power, the others are at reduced power. In Tifton...

    Electricity outage at Superchargers?

Im supposed to be driving through Georgia tomorrow. Is there any way to tell if there are any supercharges that have lost electricity from hurricane damage? Tesla is no help. I tried to call the 800 number and was told there would be a one hour wait. I guess support isn't a high priority...

    Hi, I’m a short seller

    Hi, I’m a short seller

Back when Tesla went public and settled down at around $18, I also decided I wanted to support the company and buy its stock. But I diddled around and before I knew it, it was at around $84. I decided at that price that ship had sailed, so I did nothing. Go figure. But recently I've been...

I think he must be, because there is already a 6-seat set for the Model X available. Ordered them from Hebron for $77 LESS than Amazon (a rare occurrence). I had a set of these for my Model S and they are terrific. I liked them much better than the Tesla/Weather Tech versions.

    OT: opinions on radar detectors

Had an interesting conversation with customer service at Valentine Research in connection with upgrading my unit. I mentioned I had an electric car and she asked which one. Told her the Tesla Model X. She then asked whether it was AP1 or AP2. When I told her AP1, she then said that the...

Have to pay for the 5-seat load floor?

I know exactly what you mean. The car does come with the panel that make the upper floor flat with the second row seats folded. It jus doesn't give you a completely flat floor behind the second row seats if you need a higher cargo area that doesn't have to be as long into the car.

StowAway Max rear luggage carrier - my experience

The issue is not the distribution of the weight, but that the load is only being supported at only one point with the racks and the Stowaway, where with a trailer the load is supported by the wheels as well. To your point, yes, you can overload the tongue capacity with a trailer if you put too...

Have to pay for the 5-seat load floor?

Do you find that you don't miss it? I had thought that unless I needed to haul a very long item that needed to be flat, I would always leave the lower floor exposed for the taller storage capacity, and then the big hole would be a problem.

    OT: opinions on radar detectors

My Valentine One detector that I've had for about 20 years has recently started to malfunction in that it's giving me almost constant warnings on the interstate. I've decided that 20 years is probably enough service and I should go ahead and get a new one. The question is do I replace it with...

Have to pay for the 5-seat load floor?

I was looking around the Tesla shop to see if they had gotten the floor mats back in stock and saw that they were now selling a 5-seater load floor for $120. This is the panel that I remember discussing was missing from the early 5-seaters to cover the underfloor bin and therefore give you a...

StowAway Max rear luggage carrier - my experience

I’ve mentioned this before. As you can see in the WA law definition, the tongue weight is referring the VERTICAL load on the hitch, which is what you get when you attach a trailer because there is another support on the trailer wheels. With rack mounts, or the Stowaways, you not only have...

    Efficiency with Trailer?

Thanks for the info, Yinn. What I meant is that of the total 165 miles between the superchargers, 115 miles would be with trailer and cargo, then I would drop off the cargo and return the trailer so that the remaining 50 miles would be with just the car.
  33. Jrogville

    Efficiency with Trailer?

I’m thinking about doing some towing with a 4x8x 4 ft high enclosed U-Haul trailer with about 500 lbs of cargo, but with the location of superchargers and where I need to go, it might be a close thing range-wise. To get from one supercharger to another, I need to drive 115 miles with the loaded...

    Cargo Floor Mat

Can this net be also used to cover big heavy items, like boxes? In other words, not placing items in between the two layers, but having both layers over the cargo? I'm specifically thinking about 35 lbs boxes of cat litter that you wouldn't be able to slide over that bottom layer.

I wonder how reliable an indicator the 90% is of your full capacity? I posted the information above before charging it to the full 100%. Mathematically, as I stated above, I expected a full capacity of 252. But I actually got 256 at full charge.

    Seat Cover review

It looks like it would be fairly easy to take on and off. The front seat version of these covers looks like they go down a few inches below the bottom of the headrest. Actually, you can see where they stop on the back from his photos. In the case of the Model X, you would probably want to use...

Does your 2016 Hatch button look like this?

Great! Thanks for the input. It looks like it was the other way around from what I was thinking. Rather than the hatch door button being influence by the new FWD switches, it looks like the germ of the idea was there in the hatchback switch and they decided to apply it to the FWD switches...

Seat Belt Malfunction - Had to Cut it to get my son out

I don't know in the case of Tesla whether the glove box would be the best place for any kind of emergency equipment. In an emergency situation, it bothers me that to open the glove box it requires the release of an electrical lock. What if there's a power issue? Maybe under the front seat?

    Finally, after 9 long weeks!!!

Tesla picked up my car a few days ago to make some delivery item repairs and I was exited to learn that they were giving me a brand new 2017 Model X loaner to use while they did the work. It's a 47xxx VIN that had only 65 miles when they dropped it off. Unfortunately, it wan't a 100D, but oh...

    Finally, after 9 long weeks!!!

I can't get over how much more volume the Model X has than the Model S. I have a fairly small garage and the Model S filled it pretty completely. But the Model X in that space looks like it takes half the volume of the total garage. Intelectually, I know that the footprint is virtually the...

Does your 2016 Hatch button look like this?

I just took delivery of an Aug 2016 CPO with the manual-close button on the hatchback door as shown on the these photos. Do your Model X's of that vintage look like that? This looks more like the style of the new Falcon Wing Door buttons on the B-pillars.

Could someone explain? In the same sentence, Tesla calls it 'Collision Avoidance Assist', which any reasonable person would take to mean it will assist you in avoiding a collision. X: What's your 90%?

Is this a Is this at 100% charge? 247 at 90% would give you a 100% of about 275 rated miles, which is too high. Although at 10k miles I would expect a full charge higher than 247.

Got to 255 miles and stayed on "calculating time to finish". Had to unplug to leave, so don't know if I would have gotten that last couple of miles or not. But after reading some of the numbers here, I guess I'm happy with 255 at 5,700 miles.
