    What are your insurance rates for 2016+ Model S in BC?

    No S owners from BC here? I don't believe it! :) I got a quote for the "Special Risk Own Damage Policy" from ICBC. The minimum deductible is $1000, and if I add my 22 y.o. son, it increases to $1900! I'm more or less OK with that, but the worst is that there is no separate windshield damage...

    What are your insurance rates for 2016+ Model S in BC?

    Hi guys, Just got a gorgeous 2019 P100D, and found it's much more difficult and expensive to insure than my previous P90D. Is that the case for everyone in BC? Apparently ICBC now considers Model S as a "luxury" vehicle, requires a special approval process from the underwriter, the premiums...

    Custom wheels on Model 3 Performance

    You are absolutely right. They are not required, and most likely there won't be any issues without the rings. But they do make it easier for the wheel to be installed properly, and if they are correct size - they guarantee the wheel would not be off-center even slightly.

    Custom wheels on Model 3 Performance

    That's weird. There are many custom wheels sold at the tire shops, which do require rings depending on the car model as it's just impossible to cover all combinations of the bolt patterns and hub sizes. 18" OEMs will not fit on Performance, will they?

    Custom wheels on Model 3 Performance

    Any recommendation at US$550-600 for a set? I'm thinking about Replika R187 or R241, which are in this price range, and look nice - similar to Tesla or T-Sportline turbine-style wheels: That's right, though without a center ring there is still a chance for the wheel to be slightly off, so I'd...

    Custom wheels on Model 3 Performance

    Agree, I was looking at T-Sportline as well - it'd be my default choice. But it's a bit of an overkill for a winter-beater set. They are nice, I just cannot justify the price, which is 2.5x more than for a set I'm planning to get just to go to the mountains several times during the season.

    Custom wheels on Model 3 Performance

    Thanks. I'm more inclined to this as well, because the rings don't carry any load. Agree. Yes, but they are usually quite expensive. It's just a winter set - I don't want to spend too much on that.

    Custom wheels on Model 3 Performance

    Yes, I have scanned that thread, but it's too general, and I haven't found an answer to my question - could have missed in those 1700 messages, so I hoped someone could provide some feedback on this. I've never had spacers or rings on my wheels, so don't really know if there are any drawbacks of...

    Custom wheels on Model 3 Performance

    I'm planning to get wheels+tires for winter, and looking for some wheels, which would fit these unusual Performance hubs. Apparently there are two options (other than the wheels, which are specially designed for that step on the hubs): - wheels with 64.1 mm center bore - require 2.5-3 mm spacer...

    2015 Model S P90DL - Vancouver, BC - CA$90k

    Selling my 2015 Model S P90D Ludicrous as I'm "upgrading" to Model 3 Performance. I love the car - it's the best I've owned so far, and I'm still not sure if it's the right decision, but the Model S is just too big for me. Only 41000 km. Excellent condition in and out, drives like new. Just...

    Trunk Latch Problem

    Wow! This is interesting! I didn't think about trying something like this. But I guess you might be just lucky, that these actions accidentally helped.

    Trunk Latch Problem

    Well, I believe AP is not the main problem in this situation. More important is that when the system sees the trunk as open, it does not lock the doors, which means you cannot even leave the car anywhere.

    Trunk Latch Problem

    You need to open it to remove the panels: access to the latch connector is from the bottom end of the trunk door. Have you tried manual unlock? The cable with some kind of a handle at the end is behind a small cover near the light. And I agree with @Brass Guy - I don't think AP is linked to the...

    Trunk Latch Problem

    Thanks for the info, @Brass Guy. I've got this issue with the trunk latch, and the most annoying thing in this situation is that I cannot even lock the doors. If the service center will not call back tomorrow, I'll probably try to get to that thing and disconnect it, so that at least I'd be able...

    Model 3 reservation -> used Model S

    Thanks! Yes, GT-R is awesome... for an ICE car ;) I actually felt like I reached the top with it. No other conventional cars were interesting for me anymore. Well, of course there are things like McLaren, but that's a different league - I consider those like pieces of art, which you just look...

    Underline on a badge for Ludicrous

    I meant the signature: 2018 Pearl White X P100D :)

    Underline on a badge for Ludicrous

    So, why did you put it in your signature? ;) jk :) Yeah, that would be a nice touch. Model 3 Performance does offer a unique white interior right now, they do need some interesting interior features in Model S PxxxD as well.

    Underline on a badge for Ludicrous

    Yeah, I was thinking about that - if it's supposed to be there, Tesla service center may just put it on if I'll ask politely. :)

    Underline on a badge for Ludicrous

    If the P90D has Ludicrous mode, does it always come with an underline on the badge? Mine doesn't have the underline, but does have the Ludicrous mode, and shows underline where P90D logo is displayed on the screen. I believe I read somewhere that when Tesla did the "Ludicrous" upgrade on the...

    Model 3 reservation -> used Model S

    Thanks! I'm definitely enjoying it. :D It's funny, how an electric car makes you think differently. I had to go for 75km round-trip just to pick up some small item. With a gas-hungry car (that also uses Premium gas) I would actually have second thoughts about that: such a trip would cost me...

    Model 3 reservation -> used Model S

    Exactly! :D Well, though close performance-wise, they are obviously very different. Model S is definitely larger and heavier, even compared to 1700+kg (3800+lbs) GT-R. Tesla just feels bigger, well, because it is. :) In Standard mode Tesla is a bit slow for me. It's still quick compared to many...

    Model 3 reservation -> used Model S

    Thank you! My wife loves red - we had 4 red cars in our family for the last 18 years. :) And I agree too - red does look stunning. My only concern is that it might be a cop-magnet, especially as my driving style usually is a bit too "enthusiastic", and this is the "P" model, which doesn't help...

    Model 3 reservation -> used Model S

    By the way, I saw questions about transferring the ownership of a used Tesla, which was bought not from Tesla, to a new owner, and had this question myself, so will confirm once again based on my own experience. The process is simple: just provide Tesla with your information and registration...

    Model 3 reservation -> used Model S

    I've been the Model 3 reservation holder since the beginning of April 2016, was eagerly waiting for the dual motor, and possibly Performance version. About a month ago, when it was getting closer to availability, I finally booked a Tesla test drive. Yes, I never drove Tesla before, was only a...
