Wiki FSD’s Earliest Adopters Still Waiting

Chiming in with a 2017 S that received the FSD Beta firmware a couple of days ago. Nothing more to add other than (IMHO): 1. Perception is WAY better than I expected 2. Car control continues to baffle - Certain things are fine, other things have been issues for years, but these "should" be...

This is what makes me think the 100,000 figure is... inaccurate. I could maybe believe the 60,000 figure from a few months ago, but by all counts, we would've heard of many new folks being added since December. Aside from a handful of Canadians, I think the 100,000 figure that's been recently...

Color me skeptical that they subscribed to FSD, which has auto lane change on the highway thus doesn't require disengaging, and ALSO received the beta, and promptly discarded it. Having recently driven a newer V90 with Pilot Assist about 80 miles in a mix of highway and country roads, I can...

Wiki FSD’s Earliest Adopters Still Waiting

My guess is that they may be looking toward the end of Q1 (March 31) as some sort of possible target date for "something" to happen so they can claim "something happened" for the Q1 quarterly call. 3/31/22 is a Thursday, which doesn't nicely coincide with their previous "weekend" releases, so...

    Solar Roof, big price increase

We ordered a Bosch OR KitchenAid panel-ready dishwasher (we don't care; whichever arrives first) in February 2021 and have been continually told "it's been delayed by a few more weeks, but it should be here soon..." In December 2021, Bosch guided "March 2022" and KitchenAid said, "January 6...

I had a very pleasant and successful camera upgrade performed at the Princeton, NJ service center yesterday. We have been opted into the FSD beta REQUEST ("the button") since it was introduced with a 2017 MS having AP2 cameras, MCU2 upgrade (last year), and AP3 chip (last year) and received 2021.44.6 a short while ago. (AP2 -> 2.5+ camera upgrade is scheduled for early January.)

I was hopeful about a mobile tech install for next week, but Tesla contacted me through the app saying it was still too new for them in our area and they weren't comfortable sending a mobile tech and instead scheduled us for a service center visit. Adding nothing to this thread that hasn't already been said better by others: I'm in the same boat. I've also had an unrelated "hot" (literally to the touch) rear/trunk camera since the MCU2 upgrade. I had a service appointment scheduled for 11/10 from a few months back, hoping they'd just...

    Solar Roof, big price increase

I am *not* wading into the legality or morality of the situation, but just noting that the price of steel (along with SO many building materials) has literally doubled and hit new all-time highs not seen since 2008. Didn't Tesla recently switch to using steel "dummy" tiles from glass recently...

Since my MC2/HW3 upgrade, the car will not sleep when plugged in

That's a good call - I've got the equivalent of a Ubiquiti setup, so I can turn on my AP monitoring to see what it's doing at night. After a few days, it's reduced to around 5-7mi range loss per day, which is acceptable, though still far more than our MCU1/AP2, which was barely 1mi per day when...

Since my MC2/HW3 upgrade, the car will not sleep when plugged in

According to TeslaFi, the car ate 3% of charge / nearly 10mi of range from 10:45AM to midnight yesterday, but then for the first time since the HW3/MCU2 update, the car slept from midnight to 9AM this morning, which is progress. Will monitor over the next few days, but I'm starting to suspect...

    MCU2 Benefits

Sounds like this will be an option later in the year! We couldn't care less about AM/FM, so NBD to "lose it." Pretty sure we've NEVER tried it in the 3 years since we've owned it, so wouldn't have even known it was missing had they not have told us, but understand other folks prefer keeping AM/FM.

Just noting that I THINK our car may behaving "differently" now on 2020.40.8 and am curious to know if any of you have seen any change? The TeslaFi behavior of sleep/wake appears to be unchanged, but the overall range loss is significantly less than it had been since the MCU2 upgrade. Rather...

Updated last night and TeslaFi still shows it waking on the hour every hour. I’ll try a reboot and plugging it in (it was unplugged last night) and see if there is any change in 2020.40.4, but so far, seems exactly the same as the previous two versions.

Update to report that the 2020.40.3 update has not appeared to make a difference in my case. TeslaFi reports the exact same behavior as before where it'll sleep for an hour on the dot, then wake/idle for anywhere from ~15-90 minutes, then sleep for an hour, then wake/idle, etc. On Tuesday...

Same here. 2017 Model S with AP2/MCU1 > AP3/MCU2 and seeing the sleep/wake behavior plugged in or unplugged. My TeslaFi shows that it’ll sleep for almost exactly 1 hour before waking up fir 5-30 min (roughly) then back to sleep for an hour. Our AP2/MCU1 behavior would allow the car to sleep...

Ok- I think I discovered ONE minor downside: More vampire drain than AP2 / MCU1 (not sure who to blame, I suspect MCU2). This is really interesting, thank you for sharing! To be honest, I had entirely discounted SRECs in PA because our original (IIRC) Tesla Energy sales rep said PA didn’t HAVE any SREC program. Now maybe he was comparing to some place like CA or NJ or MA and “none” in PA translated to “very...
