Need help deciding between Performance and Long Range Model 3?

Don't forget (like I did) the Performance comes with SUMMER tires. They are only rated down to 40 degrees and can crack if used below 20 degrees. I just bought a set of 19" T-Sportline with Pirelli Sottozero 3 tires for the winter. Now I get to store the 20"s or sell them. I would get the LR...

    11 Months later......still no spoiler

The OEM and RPM both have that carbon fiber look. Not really a favorite of mine either. I will probably just have mine removed permanently. I can live without it.

    11 Months later......still no spoiler

Mine came installed from the factory. It never fit well and was lifting at the ends after a month. I had a full xpel wrap done and the installer said it was lifting as well, plus a lot of dirt collected under it. They have tried to reinstall it twice, but it always lifts on the ends. The...

Are cops lenient on Model 3s?

Certainly nice to have the proof. Would rather not have to go to court to use it though. Would be nice if we could playback in the car. In some states like PA, I believe you have to be fully stopped for 2 sec to be totally legal. Glad it worked out for you.

Help Me Tesla Peers! Contemplating Trading/Selling 10 Day Old Model 3 AWD for Performance

After buying my P3D and driving it for 7K miles, I’ve realized the LR AWD would have been plenty unless you plan on tracking the car. I rarely use all the power. Taking the range hit hurts too. Also keep in mind the 20” tires are summer ONLY as they are not warranted for low temperatures and...

An error, a diagnosis, and a new rear motor in 7 days in MN

I’ve had good experience with the Pittsburgh, PA service center when I had my MS 75D. It took a few visits to finally find the root cause of the problem, but I received good communication and a loaner each time, so I’m reasonably happy with them.

Did any performance owners ever get their spoiler?

Mine was installed at the factory along with badge. Fits perfectly.

3D Maxpider Kagu Mats for Model 3

3D Maxpider Kagu Mats for Model 3

I received my front mats from Joe within 5 days of ordering. They look great. I like that they shipped flat in the box. I can't wait to try them out once I get my M3 back from its' full PPF installation. Thanks Joe! Glad to see you are back on track!

How to properly value used Model 3 with past damage?

You should also be going after the other insurance for a DV (dimished value) claim if it doesn’t end up totaled. There are other threads about this process. There is even a company you can hire to produce a DV report.

    PPF after Ceramic Coat

Full coverage of XPEL is costing me almost $6k in DC and some quotes were higher. Had a quote of $7k for my Model S in PA. And that doesn’t include any paint correction!
  15. jjh1234

    PPF after Ceramic Coat

I’m pretty sure you should have installed the PPF first. I don’t think the PPF will reliably stick to the ceramic coating.

    FSD With Purchase Or Wait

I was totally against getting FSD when I bought 2 months ago, but I'm really missing the auto lane change after 1,500 miles of AP. I'm really thinking of getting FSD just to get that. The smart summon and whatever comes next would be great too. I'm hoping for a FSD sale sometime soon!

any reason not to do a lease?

Tesla supposedly applies the federal rebate to the residual value. Seems sketchy to me since they determine the residual value as well.

Tesla Dash Cam Install and Now Tesla wants $420 to UnDoIt

It seems like Tesla service will try to shift the blame to anything you've changed on your car when there's a problem. I had MetroMile insurance and it required plugging their dongle into the OBDII port. I started having "Power Reduced" on my MS75D and they blamed the dongle immediately...

    Bikes lane-splitting

From what I remember in my time living in CA, lane splitting was supposed to allow air cooled bikes a chance to keep moving slowly in congested traffic so they didn't overheat. I think there was a cap on the speeds lane splitting was allowed. In this day and age, I don't think bikes are as...

FUD - Businesses insider "The star of 'Aladdin' claims a defect in his Tesla Model 3"

I know someone directly involved with a Tesla approved body shop and they say Geico is the absolute worst of any other insurance company when it comes to paying for repairs. They will fight tooth and nail to get out of paying.

    Trunk Organizer

I bought the ToughPro mat set from Amazon. They are reasonably priced and very non-skid. They don't have high sides like the MAXpider ones, but I don't plan on using mine in the winter anyhow. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BNDKPM8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

From what I've read, that spot on the avatar is just simulating the look of sun glare on the roof. It's not due to any actual sun glare on the roof or display in the car.

Slight shudder in 'drivetrain' at very low speeds

In my experience, Tesla employees rarely admit knowledge of problems, even the ones that seem well known on forums like these. I'm not sure if this is true ignorance or feigned ignorance. I rented a mid range RWD for a couple of days before buying my P3D+ and I didn't notice anything like you...

Slight shudder in 'drivetrain' at very low speeds

What Model 3 do you have? RWD? If so, I've heard the rear switched reluctance motor can be less than smooth at low RPM. Maybe that's it.

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

Despite my worries (from reading all the horror stories), my delivery day went off without a hitch. I was given all the time I wanted. The car was well detailed and ready for inspection on time. I found a few very light scratches in the clear coat on the hood and the detail guy came right out...

Which adapters came with your Model 3?

Yes, came with both adapters in the charging kit for free. (Sorry about the typo)

Which adapters came with your Model 3?

Took delivery on 5/15/19 and received the 5-15, 15-50 and J1772 adapters. Did not receive phone charging cables. 05/2019 build date.

Is now a good time to trade in and upgrade?

That's so funny since I've had my P3D+ for a week and was thinking I could have bought a 3LR RWD and saved $14,000. Keep in mind the Performance can eat through the battery quickly due to the big sticky tires and a lead foot. Still a lot of fun to drive though. If I were you, I'd wait until...

Supercharger Fathead for garage or shell?

Looks very nice. Do you know how high the top of the hole in the middle is on the different sizes? Wondering if my charger will fit inside at its' current height.
  35. jjh1234

Is now a good time to trade in and upgrade?

It's been a long time since I've lived in CA, but I don't think they have the trade-in tax savings like many other states.

Wireless charger throwdown - who wins?

Thanks for this info. It's very timely and interesting to me since I'm looking for a mat right now. My only concern is one of the pics on the Taptes site show a cable charging the landscape phone. The other does not. I'm a little confused if the landscape is truly wireless or not (or maybe...

NEMA 14-50 adapter not included anymore

This is what I was told at my SC while taking delivery of my P3D+ on 5/15. Some cars are coming with 14-50 and some are not. Same deal with phone charging cables. Mine was already manufactured and in transit when I reserved it on 5/3. I received the 14-50 and J1772, but not phone cables...

Got A Great Deal On A Used Model 3...

In my experience, a salvage vehicle is worth about 50% of an equivalent clean title one, especially on trade. If you are going to buy a salvage title vehicle, be prepared to keep it a long time or take a beating on resale value. Enjoy.

Please give the Model 3 CHAdeMO

I would like to see CHAdeMo support for the M3 as well. I kept my adapter when I sold my MS75D. I don't understand why it's taking so long to implement.

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

I had bad bushings on the drop links on the rear sway bar of my Mustang. It sounded like somebody left a hammer rattling around in my trunk. Drive me crazy until the Ford dealer fixed it.
  41. jjh1234

Why does the P3D have better acceleration than the LR3D (current versions)?

Back around 2004, the new SAE J1349 standard for HP rating was established. I know that dropped some of the manufacturers numbers, but I'm not sure if it retained crank vs rear wheel or not.

    Steeringwheel clocked

Many roads have a crown in the middle for water drainage. This can sometimes require a little bias on the steering wheel to stay straight. This would typically manifest as slightly left rotation in the US since we drive on the right side. I assume it would be the opposite in countries the drive...

Questions to ask when purchasing a used Model 3

I would say that’s too expensive. The Tyson’s Corner store has a new 2019 RWD LR for 48k. Considering tax breaks, that would seem like a better deal. No EAP though.

Error | Incline too steep: parking brake may not hold

My MS had the separate parking brake calipers. When placing the car into park, I could hear the mechanical sound of the parking calipers engaging. When I would hold P to get the emergency brake indication, I heard an additional mechanical sound that I assume was the parking brake calipers...

Is this gen 1 or gen 2 seats?

My 2016 MS had the Gen 1 (or 1.5) seats. I found them extremely uncomfortable. They were one of the main reasons I sold the car. Tesla refused to sell me upgraded seats, even though they had offered them in the past. They had no thigh support at all. I drove loaners with Next Gen seats and...

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

Has anybody reported this issue on any 2019 models? This thread is one of my arguments against buying another MS.
