Turns out the battery was actually good the voltage where I probed it showed low because the posts were corroded. It was either corroded 12V battery posts or the ground on the battery tray was also corroded. I cleaned it all up and put it back together so far so good.

So it appears now to be a bad 12v battery. Once I let it sit without the cables attached it showed very low voltage. I’ll replace it and see if the problem goes away.

Both ground lugs in the trunk look good. I’m digging around to see if I can find anything else.

Did you ever find the answer to this? I think I may have to service the AC on my P85 and was curious if there is a specific way to do it. Service manual says you need to use Toolbox but I wonder if I can charge it without that.

I think its still considered a "sealed/maintenance free battery" but its got two rubber strips that easily pop off with a thin flathead screwdriver. I would suggest atleast taking a look at the water level before tossing the battery. You may be throwing out a battery that still has life in it.
