Mostly true, however Teslas paint is notoriously bad quality, thin, and soft. Ceramic coating does up the hardness to top level paint like on a Mercedes.

My point was that hardware and trim should be changed once a year like any other model car ever. Software updates can be every day for all I care.

Right but when you turn the car off, as soon as you exit it turns back on. The only thing that works sometimes is to put it in screen cleaner mode and then exit and get lucky. It seems the UV light is pressing buttons, turning on hvac, ect on the screen.

The rumors you hear of the new Model S being wider most likely only applies to the plaid plus due to totally different battery substructure. Pretty sure the long range and regular plaid will be the same size as current models.

New update is Tesla acknowledges the problem and is working on a resolution. How long that will take and whether it involves hardware or software seems to be unknown. Just another case of Tesla not knowing the solution yet and delaying the repair.
