How do you protect your headliner/visor

I use Meguiars Carpet and Upholstery cleaner on a microfiber towel. It has worked for the minor issues I've had.

"Group buy opportunity" for reasonably priced Mud Flaps (Model 3)

Just received a similar response. He followed up to my reply that he has had these on his model 3 for the last six months without issues. Looking forward to these once they are shipping again.

Anyone notice an increase in range after software update to 20195.15 f5def7e

Honestly, I would expect the updated software to tell us it occurred. This last update does not. For example, the Model X has received an update specifically calling out the 5% update. 2019.8.2 included 5% power increase : teslamotors

2018 Non Autopilot people, should we buy AP for $2000 before next Monday?

You get the power update free. 5%, but free lol. Use the 2K for AP. I just did today as well. Couldn't justify the 5 or 6 before, but 2? Yep!

Considering buying Tesla 3 Long Range

Recently gave my parents a ride to and from the airport for a trip. Both have leg and knee issues and they did not have problems entering or exiting my Model 3. They also noted they were comfortable sitting in the car during the ride with no leg issues, movement or space. Regarding the...

    Model 3 Software Update 2018.50.x

I'm torn here. I can understand both sides. Sometimes, I'm cleaning the car, plugged in, HVAC on, BT connected, because, quite honestly, I want to not sweat/freeze in the car as I make it pretty and love the sound. I've also left a thing or two in the car and don't need BT/HVAC. One thing I...

Tesla to Produce Pickup After Model Y Rollout

Sounds like a 'skateboard' battery design would work well in that case.

    New Nomad delivered today

The latest version of Nomad comes with two splitters, specifically for the USB cam. Mine came with those and shipped just before Christmas. Yours should come with them as the Nomad page states there are two USB splitters included. Overall, for Nomad, it is cheaper than the battery backup they...

    Model 3 Battery Heating?

It pulls power, but minimal. It does not heat the battery unless charging or climate is on. Charging works best.

RWD 1st Snow Driving Experience with All Season Tires

LR RWD 18 inch MXM4. Just recently got to test the MXM4 in icy conditions in the area, between 10-20 degrees F at 3AM. Not much in the way of snow, but could definitely see icy spots. I went the speed limit without issue. Lane changes were fine. I just slowed down when cars were around. No...

Tesla Pickup Moves Up the Company’s ‘Resource Priority’ List

Just realized what I want as a feature for the pickup. I want to fit my model 3 in the bed of it.

You probably don't need fast charge speed at home

Honestly, with the amount I drive, and comparing gas costs to electricity, and my cost of electricity compared to supercharging and the drive to the supercharger, the install has already paid for itself.
  17. Emmexx1

You probably don't need fast charge speed at home

I would tend to agree with this. A typical daily commute of 10 miles in warmish climate? Yup, that 120v 20A outlet would be good. Any commute over 20 miles in a climate with single digit cold temps, or even teens, I definitely suggest that 240 outlet.

Model 3 - Preheat battery - Winter Range Concerns

Yup. We've also had wind chills in the past year down to -40 F. In the spirit of testing the capability of the car, I want to see that temp change. I don't want it personally for my vehicle, but it will be good to have the experience.

    Winter driving thoughts so far

I haven't heard of any kind of heated floor mats and a lot of folks want a heated steering wheel option, but nothing yet. In regards to the full charge, I recommend it because that will give you the furthest charger you could possibly go to, but the navigation will redirect you to another...

    Winter driving thoughts so far

Did you do a full charge of the car then do a map check at home? Should only be one stop prior to getting there. I would recommend the second just before reaching your destination to avoid issues upon arrival or possible vampire drain there. The major thing will be the heater being on or not...

Unexpectedly purchasing an M3 for delivery on Tuesday

Third confirmation of them accepting a personal check :) Good way to do it by the way. Gives you both a chance to inspect the car. I recommend a couple high lumen flashlights to go over the car before handing over that final check.

How does every clean their model 3? Is Automatic car wash a bad idea?

Look for something like in a BP Amoco or Shell station. I'm from Chicagoland as well and that's where I've seen and used them. Although, I honestly prefer to do the manual pressure wash and wipe it down in the stall

I should add that if the temp is above freezing, I wash outside. But right now, that hose is a bit frozen lol

Unexpectedly purchasing an M3 for delivery on Tuesday

Honestly, I went with the industrial grade 14-50 outlet, connected my mobile connector to it and leave it there. I get 30 miles of range per hour of charge and that more than accounts for any travel I do. The HPWC would get about 44 for me, but the cost didn't make sense considering my...

How does every clean their model 3? Is Automatic car wash a bad idea?

I go to a local Jett Super wash. It is basically a pressure washer with different settings (soap/wax/rinse). I spray the car down top/bottom/underneath, rinse it, and use a detail spray as I dry it off with microfibers. Good as new.

1 Million Miles? What are you on track for?

I am hitting at just shy of 12K in six months of ownership. That would run me just shy of 42 years, or just about as long as I've been on this planet to date.

Help w sticker shock over adding amp to detatched garage

I had a separate 100 amp service run from the utility into my garage. 1350 all told, but commercial grade. No digging needed. I have a 50 amp 240 outlet that my mobile connector stays attached to 24/7. I currently have just the one car, but IF I get a second, I will have the second outlet...

    Winter driving thoughts so far

I would say before if the issue is them freezing to the spot. However, I found on Monday that just turning on the heat and letting it run about half an hour melted all the snow from all the windows and left very little on the wipers. I'm hoping for more testing opportunity to see if that was a...

Scared of taking the Model 3 out? Am/was I alone?

Completely understand! This is my most expensive car. I tend to detail her every month, so I know the feelings of not wanting anything negative to happen. That first pull out of the Tesla facility can be nerve wracking. However, as Robert Downey Jr. said, "Sometimes you gotta run before can...

Sound system lost it's "punch" after latest update

I haven't had a skip on bluetooth. I switch it up now and again and the only skipping I get comes from streaming on the car. I've used two different apps on my phone to play music and neither have skipped for me, thankfully. Currently on 44.2 as well

Is Model 3 your only car?

A used one, yeah. I have found a rare couple out there. Would just be used for work, 40 miles roundtrip. Something to cut down on miles on the 3.

    Start stop charging

Not a dumb question at all, man. Never know when something like this could save one of us issues down the road. As long as you aren't topping the battery at 100% every day, there shouldn't be issues. I charge mine to 70% during the night, then do a half hour charge in the morning before I...

Is Model 3 your only car?

I have been considering a used Rav4 EV for work. May use tax credit to pick one up, if any are available at a decent price/condition.

    Slacker/TuneIn Radio Error Loading

Actually, just press and hold the two buttons. I've never used the brake pedal, excepting when I was sitting at a red light. BTW, you can still drive while it resets. Can't see speed, obviously, but just stay with traffic if needed.
  38. Emmexx1

    Start stop charging

Valid point. I like to have my car start charging at 10-11PM as that tends to be the start of the coldest part of the night here. Then hit charge when I get up to warm the battery before going in at 3AM. Not completely necessary, but as I am keeping it around the 80% mark, also should not...

    Start stop charging

I do something similar. I set the car to charge at 11PM to a certain limit. When I get up, I open the app and start charging to a bit higher limit. I get ready for the day and by the time I'm in the car, everything is good. I know it's not what you are looking to have, but it's the best...

Is Model 3 your only car?

Only the Model 3 here since May. My ultimate test was a cross country trip I make yearly to Vegas from Chicago. 31 hour trip straight through with only supercharger stops. A bit of food and sleep when needed and on we go! Zero range anxiety, 100 percent enjoyment.

    Slacker/TuneIn Radio Error Loading

Honestly, when I get the load failure screen, I hit the refresh and it comes up. I have done a reset at times as well and that brings up the music again.

When playing some stations in the car, there are noticeable skips in music as well. It reminds me of the needle hitting a scratch on old vinyl LPs.

RWD 1st Snow Driving Experience with All Season Tires

Thanks for the vid, but I'll stick with all seasons and report back after winter. I've driven FWD and RWD in snow and on ice when the Midwest had those few days where everything way layered in ice. The tree looked really pretty coated like that. The roads not so much. I left for work early...

Rock Chip on Windshield (in Bay Area - CA)

If it was only 100 bucks, thats my deduction, so sure. This was above 800. Did the fill by safelite, which would have been free and no hit, but it was just too much that the fill couldn't cover.

Rock Chip on Windshield (in Bay Area - CA)

Progressive here. I paid the bill, Progressive reimbursed me with a check, minus my deduction. Had a rock chip, filled, but too big and spider legs visible after work. Safelite could do the replacement, but if anything down the road came up regarding the windshield, Tesla service stated the...

LR RWD/AWD "uncorking" in our futures?

I have a vision. In that vision, I see Model S and X getting upgraded with 2170, or better, cells. When that happens, range becomes longer and 0-60 scores become faster. Elon Musk announces that the time spent incorporating the new cells into the S/X has yielded 'surprising' results in a...

Am I the only one that loves not having a Key Fob?

I actually keep another key card in my wallet just in case, being a bit paranoid. I bought a third and keep it at home in the extreme off chance something happens to both.

Am I the only one that loves not having a Key Fob?

I'll test this with my Nomad when I get it this next month.
