Whispbar Roof Rack Installation: Current Model S

I did, but I haven't applied it yet to the roof. I'll do it before next ski season when I put the rack back on.

    Monroe, WA Supercharger

At 3:30pm today, March 1, 2019, a motorcycle pulls into the stall next to me. Plenty of parking spaces all around but, I guess he wanted to Supercharge. The lady in the midnight silver model S (someone of obvious intellect and refined taste) on the other side of the motorcycle told me that a...

Whispbar Roof Rack Installation: Current Model S

I contacted Yakima, they do sell a set of four pads that fit around the area for $44 but, I can't tell if they provide full coverage or result in the same short, partial cover of the boot area. Here is the link: FIXED POINT ANTI-ABRASION PADS, 4 PACK I spoke with 3M industrial adhesives. The...

Whispbar Roof Rack Installation: Current Model S

I recently bought a Whispbar rack from Tesla. There is an installation video available on the Tesla website, and there is an instruction manual in the box. The problem is that neither one is for the current iteration of the roof line. A call to support will result in referral to a service...

V9 on narrow, unlined, curvy streets

Oh, just give it some time, people are bored with themselves and feeling inadequate. Everything must be bashed to bolster their lack of self esteem and live a life of Schadenfreude to cover for their failures. Version 8 is great. Autopilot is great. Version 9 is Christmas in October. No...

    Slacker being replaced with Spotify

I see a lot of complaints about Slacker, and how fantastic Spotify is. It would seem this is solely because Spotify is in Europe, and must be better, or people just need to complain about something. I tested both services. Spotify quality was inconsistent. Some of the music streams were so...

Blog How Important Are Electric Pickups to Tesla's Mission?

Fleet managers will have to buy them first. The average person who needs to drive a pick-up to boost their fragile self esteem will not willingly switch. After being forced to drive the Tesla truck on the job, and then get in their own anemic, gutless gas truck to go home; they will quietly...

    Tesla wall connector installation cost

Good point. In my case, I have a garage full of 220V equipment (drill mill, drum sander, table saw, band saw) and didn't want the appearance of exceeding my 200 amp. box with all that and a 90 amp. breaker sitting there. My house burns down for some other reason and the insurance denies claim...

What’s worse than an ICEd charging spot...

Ha! I never even thought to do that. You don't even have to touch their car. You were just doing them a favor, right? Hopefully they're in the mall for a couple of hours.

Connected to app twice in last 10 days!.....anyone else?

I got a server error yesterday but, I've been having problems connecting for the purpose of summon, on and off, for several weeks. So, I just changed the setting to allow use of the key fob. I figure I will sort this out after V9, etc... I like it better this way, now. It's entertaining to...

    Tesla wall connector installation cost

My two cents worth on this topic. Plan for the unknown. I installed a 4 AWG wire (only a five foot run from the box) so that I could run the full 90 amps if needed. I've got mine dialed down to 50 amps because that's more than enough for an overnight charge and it preserves the battery using...

    Potential Falcon Wing Class Action

Thank you for the dinner show this evening. There's a great YouTube video of a guy doing just this. He jumps in the car; you can hear warning bells going crazy, and he just keeps driving right into his garage. It's spectacular. Painful, actually.

I expected the usual lethargic order fulfillment that I get from everyone but Amazon. Not so. I ordered a Whsipbar rack on Tuesday. Order shipped next day on Wednesday. Will be delivered FedEx on Friday. No shipping charge. Also, I found that you should order online through the Tesla website...

Socal Burbank Service Center Joyride and BS explanation for spikes?

My Model S spent a day and a half at the service center. There was a large energy spike while they had it so, I looked into it. There was no mileage put on the car but, I did notice that several courtesy services were performed. One of which was to put a load on the battery with a 40 amp...

Staggering amount of issues found at/after delivery. Considering returning the car.

The red dots are standard from the factory. Don't let that distract you. If it was a loaner then there will be mileage on the odometer. What does it say?
  22. B

Staggering amount of issues found at/after delivery. Considering returning the car.

It has to do with the poor attitude and trying to convince the customer that they are stuck with the car. It is why someone will key your car. It is why your next door neighbor in Sweden will report you to the taxing authority as a crook if you buy a new car. The list is long.

    Sick After Test Drive

Now THIS is an entertaining thread. 'please zoom us' Ha! My 9 year old only wants to ride in the Tesla. Everything else is below his dignity. We test drove a P100D and were all physically ill for the rest of the afternoon. Great memory. We bought a 100D and, even though we rocket past...

Staggering amount of issues found at/after delivery. Considering returning the car.

A lot of this just seems bizarre. Yes, I had trouble with service center delivery people. They are pretty basic employees who lack the training or basic sense to be in the positions they are in. I was just at the Fremont factory and cars don't move so fast down the line that these things...

I was using a 5 in Seattle but, reduced it to 2 driving through California for just the issue you mentioned. My car will react to an oncoming left hand turn but, it seems to be immediate with no delay.

    Software Update 2018.32.2 3817fdd

I bought a big, six foot long pillow from Costco. The wife calls it a snake. It supports your whole body and you're asleep in minutes. Highly recommended. Ambien for us simple folk. Traffic seems to be reasonably accurate, especially in L.A. I haven't had a big issue with that.
  27. B

    Nitrogen ?

Costco uses nitrogen and doesn't charge for it. Tesla does not use nitrogen. I asked Tesla why when replacing a tire last week. The service adviser could not remember why, was going to get back with me, then went home early. Costco says nitrogen is a larger molecule so it does not dissipate...

Phantom braking, etc. overflow from 2018.32.2 thread

During our recent trip from Seattle to southern California, Crazy Head did a lot of phantom braking. It was mostly due to light conditions e.g. underpasses or dark and light areas caused by building shadows. Since we might be no more than 2 months out from V9, I'm going to try to ignore the...

    Panoramic roof owners

We just made a trip all the way down the California coast. Temperature was often over 100F and up to 110. We never noticed any heat coming through the glass. The glass itself heats up but doesn't seem to dissipate through the 100% UV layer. Now the side and back windows were a very different...

    New owner Trip Question

I just made a trip from Seattle to Carlsbad and back. When I keep it under 75 mph I gain about 5% over what the car estimates. If it was estimated that I would arrive at 20%, I routinely arrive at 25%. The calculation seems to assume that I will drive fast and aggressive. And this was with...

The vehicle can be remote started from the Tesla application. It worked but, I haven't driven it around to test it.
  32. B

    Switch off "Passive Entry" NOW!!

In a way, Tesla sending out a memo advertises the possibility. You can already allow remote start from your phone without the key on model S & X so, I guess leaving the fob in a safe place is possible. We're making a trip down to an amusement park in southern California with the Tesla so, I...

    Supercharger - Bethany, MO

Did anyone consider the more classic and obvious reason: the local municipality demanded greenbacks or a cut of the revenue from the supercharger? I guess that's not as exciting as claiming Tesla is out of cash.

Germany demands Model S owners pay back subsidy

The reasoning that the incentives given by countries and states is to make EV more affordable to the masses doesn't hold much water for me. You can buy a Nissan leaf for $30,000. I'd say that's pretty average for an automobile. So, you make the incentive only available to Joe Shmoe. He buys...

white on white vs midnight silver on white

Something for you to consider. I bought a model S midnight silver with cream interior. It's my personal preference, obviously. The two colors work together very well without being a stark contrast. The most important point, after living with it for a month, everything single thing shows up...

Any way to tell date of manufacture from VIN?

I received an email telling me the exact time my vehicle came off the assembly line. In my case, it was 2:38 am. So far, it seems the graveyard shift makes an excellent vehicle. No empty liquor bottles in the trunk, either.

About to order, a couple of questions

I see the validity of the arguments regarding 75 vs 100. I live in the U.S. and personally went with the 100D a couple of months ago. Working conditions at Tesla factory

A toilet backs up and someone has to step through the poopy water. What, 1/16" deep? Don't wear your Jimmy Choo's to the factory. My hands are in poop, I get peed on, I get barfed on. I don't complain and I don't get paid for it. Oh wait, I have children. Never mind.

    Tesla Referral Program

Take a look at the current promotions. You may need to find someone who hasn't made a referral in this quarter. When I ordered my 100D in April, I used a person who hadn't yet made a referral in the quarter. That way they benefited and, in addition to free supercharging, I also received $500...

What goodies to expect with delivery?

I, actually, did not expect anything because I didn't know about any of this. I picked up my 100D a few weeks ago. It had a lot of waxing dust on the car they didn't bother to clean off, and handed me two bare keys. The delivery guy acted like he was handing over the crown jewels. I thought...

Jet engine LOUD fan in hot weather. Really?

I was at a supercharger last week; down to 26% and charging to 80%. It was probably 60F outside. When I came out of the store 20 minutes later the entire car was humming & vibrating, and the giant cable was hot. I have a 3 week old 100D. This thing was like a live beast. I just assumed it...

I saw landscaping going in. Perhaps the complaints are premature. I'm all for everyone wearing lederhosen while visiting this supercharger. Wait, steins of beer should be served to passengers during the 20 minute wait. And sausages. I'm just getting warmed up to the Bavarian fun. But please...

    software update and "lane wobble"

Having just bought a 100D, I thought this was the way it operated. Hence, my not understanding why there has been so much carping about holding the steering wheel. $500 accessory credit from referral

The $500 credit is on a different system than the other rewards so, as previously stated, you can't see it. I forgot what the internal company term is for this type of credit but, your delivery manager should know about it. I was able to confirm mine 1 week after delivery (that was 1.5 weeks...
