I've had my 3 for 6 months now. Other than a couple of one-off issues that corrected themselves and which I'd put down to software, no problems and no SC visits. I have 4 colleagues with 3's and haven't heard of any repairs for any of them either.
I got a response from customer support this morning confirming my stealth P3D is now eligible for the $5K exchange and asking for a mailing address for the check. Think I'll wait a few days to see if anything materializes regarding PUP upgrades vs $5K and if not take the money.
Thanks Elon for a great Christmas gift to us stealth owners. I also get the satisfaction of responding to the long email thread I had with customer support asking for the refund and being refused (where I was fruitlessly arguing with them about the intent of Elon's original tweet).
I ordered one a few weeks ago. I got an email from them last night saying they were ready to ship the pad but gave me the option to wait (est end of Nov) for a Gen 2 version that will have an improved anti-slip surface. I opted to wait for the Gen 2.
My list in high to low priority:
Regen mode that will bring the car to a full stop (my guess is that this is possible for them to support in software)
More avoidance options in the nav settings (such as avoid highways).
Ability to send destinations to the car nav from google maps.
Dashcam...
From some hard earned experience I'm pretty careful dealing with insurance companies. I wanted to minimize the possibility of any disagreement later in the unlikely event of a claim. If they'd made a mistake about what they were insuring (which doesn't seem to be the case) I'd rather know about...
I have a P3D and the rate I got with Geico is about the same as I was getting on my i3 previously. Seemed too good to be true. They based the quote on my VIN and I told them repeatedly on the phone that it's the performance model. I didn't realize they can't distinguish between the AWD and PAWD...
I picked up my "sleeper" white P3D with 18 inch aeros today. The day started out badly when I got a call from the delivery center an hour before the appointment time telling me they'd found a scratch on the driver side rocker panel and asking if i wanted to delay the delivery while they fixed it...
Got the call from my sales advisor and my P3D is expected to arrive at Marina Del Rey on 7/24. I'll be taking delivery Fri 7/27. Going to take a day off work and enjoy myself! I originally configured on 6/27 but changed the configuration a whole bunch of times after that.
I ordered the performance model without the upgrade as I do want that 0-60 but also wanted the most practical car I could configure. I have a steep driveway plus a lot of speed bumps and pot holes nearby so really didn't want the 20" rims or lowered suspension. I think i can live will the look...
