Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

For me the biggest improvement needs to be in the ride. Any long drive above 3 hours on uneven freeways takes a negative toll on the joy of the trip IMO. 2nd improvement needs to be improved road and tire noise insulation.

new all season tire on RWD Tesla Model 3 vs 4/32" all season tire on Audi Quattro for long trip?

As you said I'll skip #5 and #6 as it's probably not doable for us. There are enough Superchargers on route, so should be ok.

new all season tire on RWD Tesla Model 3 vs 4/32" all season tire on Audi Quattro for long trip?

Any strategies for saving energy when driving in Cold weather ?(various sections will be cold depending on area and time of the day) What settings to keep so that the windshield and windows are clear of condensation when it's relatively warm inside and cold outside, so that I do not need to...

new all season tire on RWD Tesla Model 3 vs 4/32" all season tire on Audi Quattro for long trip?

I have the 2018 long range RWD with 19" wheels. When I go to Tesla trip planner, I see 3 options M3 P - 315miles M3 RWD -272 miles M3 AWD - 358 miles Should I choose #1 M3-P 315 miles from above, because that's the one which is closest in terms of range?

new all season tire on RWD Tesla Model 3 vs 4/32" all season tire on Audi Quattro for long trip?

At both the hotels we're staying at there is a 150KW Tesla supercharger at @1 mile. Yes, while going towards destination except Ukiah CA, all Tesla superchargers seem to be 150KW. On return trip if I5 is doable, it seems most are 250KW.

new all season tire on RWD Tesla Model 3 vs 4/32" all season tire on Audi Quattro for long trip?

Roundtrip miles will be @1300 miles. +200 odd miles traveling locally at destination. Never did a "LONG" trip with the Tesla. So, wanted to do that. I understand it will be more hassle as compared to the Audi in terms of more frequent stopping for charging and possibly reduced range due to...

new all season tire on RWD Tesla Model 3 vs 4/32" all season tire on Audi Quattro for long trip?

Hello Tesla People, I'm planning on a trip this winter holidays last week of December, up the CA coast from SF Bay Area to Northern OR and back. The return trip should be via I5, however if there is snow on I5 I will avoid it and take the coastal route via Highway 101 back to Bay Area(the same...

Bent 19” Rims on a Pothole

Thanks for that. Recently replaced my tires. Due to your comment I told the tire shop to let me know if the bent wheels which were repaired look ok. They said they looked good. My guess is my wheels were probably not bent so badly as some other cases or maybe the repairer did a good job.

Model 3 Tires, Tire Sizes, Types, make / model recommendations, tire discussions, etc

Got the Conti PureContact LS. Decision came down to preference for better handling , wet , snow performance as compared to the Pirelli. Pirelli is supposed to be quieter. So, far compared to the ProContact, the PureContact's VH(Vibration and harshness @44PSI) is better. Similar noise...

Model 3 Tires, Tire Sizes, Types, make / model recommendations, tire discussions, etc

wow interesting. A 70K rated tire if it lasts only for 28k(assuming it lasts as long as the Pro Contact), it would really be disappointing.

Model 3 Tires, Tire Sizes, Types, make / model recommendations, tire discussions, etc

Good information John! I'm trying to decide what to replace my Conti Pro contact with and had narrowed down to Conti PureContact and Pirelli Cinturato 2. Now I'll have to rethink maybe. Decisions!!

Model 3 Tires, Tire Sizes, Types, make / model recommendations, tire discussions, etc

The reason I asked was when I went to BigO Tire website via google, it seemed to indicate the tire for Tesla Model 3 needs to be 'W' or above.Costco "tire selector" was also showing me a 'Y' rated tire. My current OEM ture is also 'W'. Hence I was not sure what the right speed rating should be.

Hi all, I have a 2018 Model 3 RWD Long Range with 19" wheels. At the moment the tires are all at 4/32 or slightly lower at around 22K Miles. Thinking of replacing the tires. Deciding between Pirelli Cinturato P7 all season or Continental Pure Contact LS. Looks like Cinturato and Pure Contact...

Bent 19” Rims on a Pothole

Long story short, hit a deep pothole on the driver’s side of the car. Parked the car on the shoulder and everything seemed ok from external visual examination. However, later I started observing/feeling some vibration at 70mph+. Took it for tire rotation and 2 tires had bent rims on the...

Don't take your hands off the wheel

They're evaluating it as a user/driver and not as a Autonomous driving technology developer. CR has a long experience evaluating cars and initially gave 99 or 100 to Tesla Model S(highest rating for any car ever). For me, CR is a gold standard as far as honesty in car reviews.

Do NOT buy Tesla Product ...very disappointed...please read and reply

Software updates in a car are not new generations. There are large number of components in a car & software cost is much smaller as a % of the total package(hw+software) cost. iPhones get a software update for every year for @6 years, doesn't mean my iPhone X is equal to iPhone 5(i.e. every...

Do NOT buy Tesla Product ...very disappointed...please read and reply

Cars have a generation of 4-5 years unlike say a phone or TV which have a new model every year. So, this analogy or comparison is misplaced at best and misleading at worst.

Do NOT buy Tesla Product ...very disappointed...please read and reply

Just 2 months? I bought in 1st week of February 2019 and we were told by every sales person "Buy now, else prices(AutoPilot) will go up" & then screwed by Mr. Musk 2 weeks later. In addition got lower $1750 Fed Tax benefit($3750/lower_tax_benefit - $2000/price_drop) . Thank you .... love you...

The new fantasy sales framework will fail

Good post. This might work till TESLA has the sole EV in that segment(sporty sedan with extensive network of public chargers) because people do not have any other options. Once, competition in this segment arrives things will change. Maybe this model works for people who keep a car for 3 years...

Do you have the option to "Return and reorder"? Granted, it's a hassle but it's better than to take a $3000 hit.

    CA HOV Stickers

Thanks for that info. So, my question is since this license plate number is designated as "temporary" & it does say on the license plate that "it will expire in 90 days", will I get the same plate number when the DMV sends me the "permanent" plates? This is what I found from the DMV web page...
