    Tesla St Leonards to close

Well and truly closed ladies and gentlemen. All signage is gone and super chargers removed:

?Drop off of rate of charge at Supercharger St Leonards

    Sorry mate, I don’t typically take notice/remember!

?Drop off of rate of charge at Supercharger St Leonards

I managed to get over 100KW for a while at St Leonard’s recently. 2018 MSS75D.

    Vehicles blocking charging spots

I feel like this is going to be a much more regular occurrence with so many new-to-EV owners getting their Model 3’s in the last few weeks. When I got into a Tesla last year, the only reason I was aware of EV etiquette was through forums and chatting with other owners; Of course I’m...

Vendor XPEL PPF (paint protection film)

Chrome delete looks great. How much would it cost to do that (only) on a Model S?

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

If you don’t want to drill, you can just attach with double-sided tape. I removed the ugly plastic bracket from the front of my S and have my number plate stuck directly on the front bumper - follows the same curves as the bumper and looks nice I think.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

If it's any consolation, I was there earlier today to pick up something for my S and all the Model 3's (loads of them) were inside, under cover, and out of the way of the general population. I don't think your car will be getting dirty and scratched up. I know it sucks waiting, but remember...

Vendor XPEL PPF (paint protection film)

Looks good! I understand it’s very tricky to avoid leaving gaps with the stealth PPF.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Not at all - The team I used publish their full pricing online. Note that I have no affiliation with them other than being a happy customer: Stoneguard Pricing | Protect My Car - The very best protection for your car. Paint Protection Film, GTechniq Quartz Coatings For full front protection...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Given their prices, if you’re in Sydney I’d do some further research. The “special” Model 3 deal is arguably not very special. I paid a LOT less to get my Model S done by a specialist in Artarmon.

Vendor XPEL PPF (paint protection film)

If this is a "special"... what are the "normal" prices?

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

T Sportline wheels look really great - was looking at them for my S before I managed to find a set of Arachnids locally instead. If there’s enough interest, a group buy/group shipping to Australia might be a good idea? Tesla Model 3 Aftermarket Wheels

Selling Tesla Model S 2019 full set of 19 inch rims with 4 Michelin tyres, driven 4300 KM. A$7500

See @ShockOnT response above. Their price is accurate assuming new tyres and TPMS :D
  14. Ashleysteadman

Aftermarket wheels for model S ?

Agreed! I've had silver 19" slipstreams, sonic carbon 19" slipstreams, and now 21" arachnids (what I've always wanted). There are some great looking aftermarket wheels but I prefer the factory-style look as well.

Selling Tesla Model S 2019 full set of 19 inch rims with 4 Michelin tyres, driven 4300 KM. A$7500

Wow. Is that a typo? Normally I wouldn’t comment on someone's "for sale" post but sorry $7,500 issues a seriously ambitious price for a set of 19” slipstreams... Where's your source for a $9,000 price for th'ese?
  16. Ashleysteadman

    Talk me out of turbines!

I agree with a few here - the wheel arches on the S are too big for 19’s - a 21” wheel fills them out nicely and drastically improves the look of the car (in my opinion). I bought my S with silver 19” slipstreams, shortly after I had them painted in sonic carbon... liked the look more, but...

    Model 3 Accessories

I’d love to see some Model 3’s rocking these around Aus :D Not sure if these wheels count as “Accessories”, but I think they look great: Tesla Model 3 20 Was thinking about importing a set of these for my S before I managed to find a local set of Arachnids.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I’ll just leave this here... :)
  19. Ashleysteadman

    So, paint protection film

But given the price you’ve mentioned is about the same as paint protection film replacement- wouldn’t it be better to just not need to get a respray in the first place...? I.e. by having paint protection film ;)
  20. Ashleysteadman

    So, paint protection film

To each their own... I’ve used those kinds of service before - wouldn’t let any touch my <1 year old Tesla personally.
  21. Ashleysteadman

    So, paint protection film

Who is paying 10-15% of the cost of a car to wrap it in PPF?! Especially when the average Tesla costs way over $100,000. Lol either you’re thinking of wrapping cheaper cars, or you’ve been quoted way too much for PPF! You don’t need to do a full wrap - front bumper and rear bumpers are really...
  22. Ashleysteadman

    So, paint protection film

For decent quality paint shop who will match the paint properly? Way more than the $500 it cost for the film on front bumper ;) Price aside - my car wasn’t off the road for 5 days while they disassembled it, re-painted, then re-assembled it - it was with the PPF guys for 3-4 hours while I was...
  23. Ashleysteadman

    So, paint protection film

It’s not just for stone chips guys and gals :) - had PPF put on my Model S in the first week of ownership - less than a year later it’s already saved me from a front bumper re-paint with a careless lady hitting my car in a car park - I tracked down the guilty party and they paid for the film to...

?Drop off of rate of charge at Supercharger St Leonards

+1 I’m only getting max 40kw at St Leonards regardless of state of charge - I thought it may have just been me! I work nearby so it’s my local Supercharger. As others have suggested this has been sometimes when I’ve been the only car there! 9 month old S75D here.

    Model 3 Trade Ins

Fair call - the S is a long car! Not ideal for everyone :) As I said there will definitely be some people going to the 3 from an S/X but the stats from overseas at least show that most Model 3 buyers are coming from outside the Tesla brand - so to the OP’s point I’m not so sure that the...

    Model 3 Trade Ins

I think a lot of people buying 3’s are new to the Tesla brand, or in some cases buying a second EV to go with a S/X (I’d consider this if we had kids or something and needed a second car). No doubt there will be some people going from a S/X to a 3 but I don’t think many S/X owners would want to...

Reserved personalised number plates in NSW

I hope it’s not another smug number plate like “NO OIL” or “LOL OIL”... it’s just embarrassing for the rest of us.

Pic of Midnight Silver Model S with Arachnid Wheels

Just got mine fitted today here in Sydney Australia to my midnight silver S - super happy! Shame about the rain!

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I’ll have to keep an eye out - never come across one here in Sydney!

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I’ve never needed a type 2 to type 2 cable and I’ve had my S for 8 months. You might be thinking of a J1772 to type 2 cable like this?: Type 1 to Type 2 EV Adapter Cable 32A Most public chargers in Australia have a type 2 plug built in (so no cable or adapter required - just plug into car) or...

My experience at the Jaguar and Audi Dealerships today for their EVs

Very interesting experience you had - it seems that the “old school” dealers still haven’t got their heads around selling electric cars! Here in Australia the i-Pace is more expensive than an equivalent/better Tesla Model S/X - I welcome more EV competition but I’m really struggling to see who’s...

White or Black Interior Poll - Australia

I have a Model S with white seats - The most regular question I get is “oh white seats they must be awful to keep clean!” You must be crazy!! The great thing about the Tesla seats being vegan leather (aka artificial leather/pleather) is that they are super easy to keep clean - the white...

Wrap Color - Satin Dark Gray or Satin Black?

That looks awesome @Jjdsyd - hope to see it around Sydney! Who did you get to do the wrap?

Ambient lighting in the Model S

+1 what @Juhas2610 said - I have the same. It stays on at night when driving but it’s not particularly bright (I had a Merc before my Model S and the ambient lighting in that was more noticeable + was able to change colour). In the Model S there are footwell lights (front and back), door puddle...

Vendor What is it like to have PPF?

I had someone last week scrape the front bumper on my Model S - damage looked quite bad until I peeled back the PPF - no damage to the paint at all!

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

Awesome congrats - I imagine he might be getting a few orders! You’ll love it I’m stoked with mine.

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

For a fellow Roar and Soar participant... sure!
  41. Ashleysteadman

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

    Sure thing!
  42. Ashleysteadman

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

Yea that’s what I thought too! If you take into account Luxury Car Tax, it’s actually cheaper/the same as buying as part of a new car order (when it was actually available on non-P models). Was about to go get it wrapped (professionally) myself - 3M Carbon Fibre wrap looks great but it’s nice...
  43. Ashleysteadman

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

Considering I was quoted about $450+ GST just to wrap it professionally (in fake carbon fibre) I thought that was pretty good.
  44. Ashleysteadman

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

The price went up a bit (I sat on the quote for a while!) but yea - $935 + GST for parts and $155 + GST for labour. I just got the parts only as they couldn’t fit in installation until April (they have their hands full with the Takata Airbag recall) ! It’s a pretty easy swap out so I’ll change...
  45. Ashleysteadman

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

Couldn’t find anything locally (second hand) so have just picked up CF trim from Tesla direct! I’ll keep those cleaning tips in mind.
  46. Ashleysteadman

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

By the way @Icey how do you find the Carbon fibre interior for holding up against scratches? One of the reasons I don’t love the glossy wood grain is it’s an absolute scratch magnet (and I’m OCD).
  47. Ashleysteadman

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

I’ve wrapped mine to test out the look (removed the panels to do it properly) and I’m pretty happy with it, but nothing beats the real thing; even if other people don’t know the difference - I do ;)
  48. Ashleysteadman

    Carbon Fibre Interior Trim anyone?

Hi there! I bought my Model S as ex-demo so couldn’t choose my interior and really would like the Carbon Fibre interior dash trim. There are plenty or examples for sale overseas (which are obviously left hand drive layout). Tesla has quoted me about $1,000 installed which is actually far more...
