?Drop off of rate of charge at Supercharger St Leonards

I dont think Artarmon is long for this world. Once their lease runs out..... So much wasted space now.

Same thing at Richmond. Just looks depressing on the inside big empty spaces. Occasional rubbish on the floor and the chassis of the S on wheels. Literally would make you think they are one day away from Bankruptcy. Hopefully they park lots of model 3s inside or something.

To add insult to injury, while dramatically slowing supercharging rate down they have not corrected the charging time required. Today, for instance, I was told charge time would be 35mins (which as it used to be was probably correct.) the actual charge time was 55mins.
So, why cant they be honest and give us the bad news when we plug in?
I used to be a mad fan boy for Tesla, but not anymore. This kind of stuff really alienates me. I was on the waiting list for my car for a full 4 YEARS!. I was deliriously excited when I took delivery at the Tesla launch event in Australia at the Star casino. Now, they cant even replace the broken coffee machine at St Leonards which they lease!! How hard would it be to phone Nespresso and ask for it to be fixed/changed? Has cost cutting really gone that far? Also no access to the lounge over the weekends, so you cant use the toilet while waiting for the hour it takes to charge up now!!!
SHAME ON YOU, TESLA!!!

you are so right, Dborn
The genuine early adopters took the risk, shared the dream, and supported Tesla so they would have a chance to change the world with the Model 3.
Someone should send your post to Elon via Twitter

Whilst I agree with the thrust of what you say, when there's a choice between conspiracy or incompetence to explain a situation, incompetence wins every time. The charge time hasn't changed because nobody remembered to do it, not because they are deliberately hiding anything. People actually need to be quite competent to organize a conspiracy.
The changes are much harder for us early adopters, the new Model 3 owners won't notice the difference from the car dealers they've just left

I think the bigger issue is that they didn't tell anyone that they would now need to spend longer at superchargers. This is obviously a big deal when planning long road trips.

It's a fleetwide change for the older 60/85kWh batteries. You are talking about a couple of years worth of production that is affected.

Sure they may have overlooked the estimate being wrong, and yes they can easily fix this to match the new charge profile. You still need to spend a lot longer at the supercharger regardless.

Going by dborn's experience it's 55mins/35mins so about 50-60% longer to charge. This has absolutely been done on purpose to protect the battery (and potential warranty claims down the track).

There's nothing to say they won't do the same to 90 batteries in the future. Or the 100 batteries a few years after that. Or the Model 3 batteries too. Classic bait and switch. Promote the high speed charging then cap it in a few years once attention has moved on to the next newer model.

Even though 90/100 owners might think they're not affected they'll have to contend with 85kWh cars clogging up supercharger stalls. It's no wonder Tesla is now stripping the free lifetime supercharging from these cars when they get traded back in through Tesla.

I think my Scharging is back to near normal. On a recent trip to Sydney:
EuroaSC arriving with 63% Initial charging at 46kW Outside temp 10degC
GundSC 10% 114kW 16
" 50% 60 16
G'burnSC 28% 104 19
SilosSC 30% 99 20
" 70% 38 20

The return trip yielded similar results. My car is an 85D 2015 year. Between SCs I charge to min plus 20%. I use 20Kwhrs per 100k generally. I suspect that the software download that had the browser may have corrected matters. At GundSC on the return trip I ran into Tippo who has a slow charging car. He says it adds an hour to his trips to ACT.

Dropped in to St Leonards yesterday for a half charge (top half). A Model 3 came in after me, charged up and left before me. (S85D 2016.) Wow.
Good point.
I was invited into a charging Standard Range M3 yesterday by a new owner and he was getting 100kW.
So St Leonards is capable of high speeds, I wonder why I never seem to get over about 80kW at any SoC?

I managed to get over 100KW for a while at St Leonard’s recently. 2018 MSS75D.
