“T” Charging Light Going Out During Charging

Just picked up my 3 yesterday, and it’s totally awesome! So far there are only a few small things that aren’t perfect, but very minor and not worth getting too uptight over.

One of those things happens during charging. When I plug the car in, the charge light on the car lights as normal - blue then green blinking. However once it’s plugged in for a while, the “T” is no longer lit. The app and the car says it’s still charging, but no light. Couldn’t find anything in the manual about this, and I thought it was unusual as every video I’ve ever seen shows the “T” always blinking.

Anyone else experience this? Is this normal?

Totally normal. The only mention in the manual I can find is:

Note: If Model 3 is locked, the charge port light does not light up.

Thanks - the car is in fact locked while I’m charging because I charge outside by my townhouse. Must have missed that in the manual. Thanks again!

It turns the charge indicator off to avoid attracting attention to the vehicle. If you press the button on the charge handle, it will light back up for a period of time.

This is typical behavior of all Teslas. If you’re plugged in at night you’ll be happy your car isn’t flashing a light to attract attention to it.
