127 MPH through a tunnel under LA

If it was actually possible to build such tunnels, why haven't manufacturers build normal roads in places where there is plenty of space? They cost a lot less to build than tunnels, after all.

Imagine how popular a Toyota-only highway right next to the peasant highway that's clogged up with traffic every morning would be.

It's not very profitable at this time. The tunnelers haven't been upgraded since, I think the 60s? They're very basic. That's what the Boring company is doing; they're revamping a pre-established system, and making it better, cheaper, and faster.

Well so far the haven't demonstrated any of that. They dug a basic tunnel using an off-the-shelf machine... Well, except this tunnel doesn't have adequate ventilation for fossil cars.

Everyone starts somewhere. It's like you taking the prototype Roadster (which was built off a Lotus) and saying, "They'll never be able to improve this, they should just stop trying. There's no market for electric cars."
