After the latest update, I see a notice saying that the premium connectivity expires on December 31. I was under the impression that older teslas are grandfathered. Anyone else is seeing this?
Tesla removes various “lifetime” features on resales through Tesla, including Connectivity. Per Tesla website:

What happens to my Premium Connectivity subscription if I sell or trade-in my car?
If Premium Connectivity is included on your car at no cost, it will be removed automatically at the time of trade-in. If the car is sold privately, Premium Connectivity will remain for future owners for the lifetime of the car.

The grandfathering is only for cars that were purchased prior to July 1, 2018, whether new or used. So even if your car was manufactured before the grandfathering cutoff, having purchased it after that date removes you from the pool. I'm in the same boat.

That information is from the website that was created at the beginning of this month therefor after when we bought our cars. Also included on that page (link: Connectivity) is that used card purchased after July 2018 do not get a trial of premium connectivity which we already have so it already contradicts itself. I think we are all are at a "Wait and see" when Jan 1 2020 comes around to see if it is removed or we are grandfathered into unlimited.

Straight from the mouth of the beast, about 1/3 of the way down the page in the FAQs:
Connectivity

The bottom panel shows a subscription is required even for used cars ordered (not delivered - just ordered) on/after 7/1/2018.

I stand corrected. I heard of this but wasn't aware it wasn't just new cars manufactured/sold beyond a certain date within the last year or so.

The crazy part is we bought not one, not two but three used Model S cars directly from Tesla after that date and had different sales people and delivery specialists for each one and not ONE mentioned this "feature" they sold us on would expire. Quite the contrary in fact; Each one told us that the music streaming specifically (and therefore the other "Premium" features as I wasn't even aware it had a name prior to this) was free for life and transferred from owner to owner free-of-charge if we ever sold the cars. This was explained to my wife and I in no uncertain terms across several transactions by several Tesla representatives.

I will have to review my documents to see if any of this was in writing (one way or the other) but it certainly wouldn't be the only time we were blatantly lied to by a Tesla representative.

Dude. When I bought my used Model S, I was told by every single Tesla person I talked to that I would definitely have free supercharging and free streaming music forever. I still have the supercharging... for now...

I don't think I have it in writing, unfortunately. I personally don't think it would change anything or prove legally binding in court (not that I would ever go that far over this issue).

Same. In fact, after getting burned hard by our first transaction by blatant liar Tesla representatives, I got everything from them in writing during the next two for every promise we were made or change we were told would occur. Well, obviously not everything as I was told so convincingly by everyone we came into contact with about the Supercharging and streaming that I didn't bother. It just seemed as commonplace as the fact that our car would always run solely on electricity and it didn't need to be in writing along with most other things that were at the basis of the whole thing to work.

I guess I learned yet again to not trust Tesla even after I thought I already learned that lesson.

I purchased a used car thru Tesla (in June 2019). I know for a fact that there was nothing re connectivity being under any sort of a trial when I purchased the car. At the time, it was free supercharging for life and premium connectivity. I know shortly after my purchase, they changed supercharging for life policy on used cars. They are constantly fiddling with free supercharging on used and new inventory.

On the website back in June, it clearly stated a new car came with prem connectivity for a trial period (not sure length, maybe a year) before pay for service kicks in.

The used car purchased through Tesla policy after 7/1/2018 is a recent add to the Tesla website. My connectivity also expires 12/31/2019.

It makes me think they're going to pull free superchaging too.
