Yea that was my understanding with rebuilt title as well. Seems off that just a paint job made insurance company scrap it

Yes, I agree. Pennsylvania uses the "industry standard" total loss fomula - basically if the sum of the cost of repair plus the salvage value of the car exceeds the car's actual cash value, then it is considered a total loss.

Source: What is Total Loss and What Does It Mean for Your Car Insurance?

On a 100k MSRP car no more than 3 years old (4/17 build date), it seems like it should be difficult for a 18k paint job to result in a total, does it not?

Eccl - any more info here? Maybe that had fear it had more damage? Or damage to the battery?

Definitely raises some questions

There are two possible scenarios that could explain that the X has autopilot and not EAP. If someone ordered the vehicle before October of 2016 (before AP2 was announced) they could order Autopilot. You could end up with an AP2 X but the features are limited to TACC and Autosteer. Also, at one time Tesla offered an upgrade to get TACC and Autosteer for $3,000 if one had an X without Autopilot.

The best way to tell is if the Autopilot screen has a selection for Autosteer but not for Auto lane change then it is an AP2 with basic autopilot. If it has neither it only has the safety features.
