Yea that was my understanding with rebuilt title as well. Seems off that just a paint job made insurance company scrap it
Yes, I agree. Pennsylvania uses the "industry standard" total loss fomula - basically if the sum of the cost of repair plus the salvage value of the car exceeds the car's actual cash value, then it is considered a total loss.

On a 100k MSRP car no more than 3 years old (4/17 build date), it seems like it should be difficult for a 18k paint job to result in a total, does it not?
Eccl - any more info here? Maybe that had fear it had more damage? Or damage to the battery?
