2018 Model X Totally Dark

Hi @GaryBowler ,

On my 2018 Model X100D I had to replace the main harness.
The main harness was about $625 but the labor to install was $1800.
The labor was heavy because almost every part had to be removed
to reach the different connectors.

It was a customer pay because of rodent damage.
Fortunately my comprehensive auto insurance covered it...
less the deductible of course.

Be very wary of where you park or store the car.
The wiring has a soy component that the rodents just love.

I now have rat size glue traps strategically placed to intercept
any future rodents...

Good luck,

Shawn

Shawn!

Thanks soooo much for your response! It is appreciated.

I believe my issue was slightly different. The part appeared to simply be defective. At least thatā€™s what Iā€™m told. However, I will take your advice and put mouse traps in the garage in the apartment building where I live here in New York City.

Iā€™m very thankful that I took out a third party vendor extended warranty recommended by the New York State Tesla association of which I am a member.

I looked the part number up and it was a $205 harness. There was a special name for it but I donā€™t recall right now. The installation was $905. Iā€™m glad they covered it.

Iā€™m curious to see how many mice I catch as I will place the glue trap under my car.šŸ˜Š

Great comments and suggestions!

Best,
